XII
I'm impressed with how quickly Twisted Colossus is coming up, considering the usual speed for building new coasters at SFMM. The lifthill is looking good.
singforfood
And a side note. I need to high five whoever had the idea of turning superman around backwards. I love that ride now!!! I agree, and the launch is so much powerful now  I like the sensation of being launched forward better than backward, but I think facing downward at the top of the tower, and seeing how high up you really are, makes the ride experience much more interesting. And the fact that they actually turned the launch back up to 100 mph helps too.
Jew
^Speaking of the launch...roller coaster technology has improved so much since Superman first opened to the point where it's 100MPH launch doesn't even feel fast anymore.
Rotura Violenta
And a side note. I need to high five whoever had the idea of turning superman around backwards. I love that ride now!!! It went from a ride that I'd just skip whenever I visited the park to borderline "must-ride" status for me. I used to ride it imagining how much better it would be if it went backwards as before all you really saw was the sky so there was no sense of height. My other fantasy with this ride (impossible for various reasons, I'd imagine) would be for a brake mechanism to grab the car at the top of the tower, bounce it slightly (enough to throw you forward), and then drop it again. The LIMs on the towers of Premier rides do something like this to a degree, but with less of a grab. It really is a great ride now, though. GCI Wooden
^Like the holding brakes on Impulse Coasters? A holding brake, facing straight down 400 feet, could you imagine!
iloveblueberries
Hopefully they implement a forward facing car on Superman's track. Would make the ride have more appeal to me personally. But they probably just got rid of the second car because it wasn't herring the trouble running both sides when the ride isn't getting as much attention from the gp as it was a few years ago. coastercoaster5
I have always thought that they should have the first two rows facing backward and the last two forwards. That way you get the best of both. Not facing each other but facing the track. Would be sweet.
WFChris
I know people want the variety of both directions, but the fact is that Backwards Superman is a much better ride than it was before. I'm happy for the change and hope to never see a forward facing option on the ride again. When you are facing the sky, there is really no perception of how high you actually are, so if you're craving that feeling, you can ride Montezooma's Revenge and get a bonus loop in the process! laqueefa
I'm thankful that they got through their beef with Intamin and got the ride back up to speed! Forward or backward, its great to get all the way up that spine.
GwaziBSRider1
I would love to see some LSMs carry the train up to the very top of the spine, hold it for a few seconds, and then let it rampage down the track into the station.
JeromyL
If you hold it at the top. Then it would be drop of doom. I like the positive g's straight to negative g's. The feeling is fantastic. If you stop it. It would just be a drop ride
coasterlvr
went by SFMM for a few hours knowing it would be pretty dead today, but damn, it was pretty hot, too. anyway, I can't remember what's been shown lately since i look all over for stuff, so if some shots like these have been repeated, sorry. Â since i haven't been during the week, and today being a holiday, i didn't see much action. there were a few workers on site though, but i'm sure most were enjoying a day off. the crane arm was facing the parking lot when i got there, and facing inward toward colossus when i left, but i have no idea if they were doing anything important with it today. Â anyway, here's some random shots i took today. shot from the kiddy train. i think it's okay to take pics on this ride. shot from the kiddy train. i think it's okay to take pics on this ride. studs added return track. looks like there's only a bit of track in the station. i'm not tall and just held the camera over the fence. came out good though. this dude had to be hatin' life. out in the sun and painting = no fun. worker with a green RMC shirt. i've got a couple black ones. green is probably better for a worksite. apocalypse closed and everyone had the day off, nothing going on at all. tatsu_dude
Good to see them painting wood white. Hopefully that means they'll start rebuilding the damaged area of the lift soon. It doesn't look like they can install too much more track before hitting a big, charred hole! I also wonder when they'll start doing work on parts of the coaster other than the lift, because everything else looks almost untouched still. Â Â seems to me that RMC's plan starts at the station and works through the layout as you would if riding. i never followed any other retrofit builds, but it seems the same with wicked cyclone. Â Just wait until SFMM starts making them use safety scissors to remove the other wood they still need to get down. I'm betting it's due to the fire.
