The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Sorry I couldn't grab pics. I only saw the new track from the Goliath lift and from the top of Scream. It looks like the track leaves the station from the left side (facing the original entrance), veers left, straightens out, veers left a little more, then hits two small humps (maybe five or six feet off the ground), followed by whatever incomplete move comes next. It seems too close to the lift to be a roll of some kind, so I'd assume it's just a turn with weird banking. I don't see how it could possibly take this sequence with any speed as it's barely elevated. Anyhow, I'm sure pics will emerge soon to clarify.

Aside from that, the park was very quiet except for an hour in the afternoon where it felt a tad more congested. We rode most everything by 12:30pm. Skipped Tatsu because no-one in our group really likes it, but the line for that looked quite long. Also skipped Green Lantern. Ninja, Lex Luthor, Full Throttle were all having issues throughout the day. Apocalypse and X gave the roughest rides I've had to date. Over and out.

I don't really see the point of having bunny hops during the pre-lift. On the original Colossus the thing was so flat that the kicker wheels in the station had to practically launch you out of the station to get to the lift. I like that RMC is trying to cram airtime in everywhere they possibly can, but I doubt those hills will actually do anything for the ride.

Bolting it down

I was at the Mountain today and got my new pass processed. I saw the bunny hops from Scream. I have 2 pictures of the guys working on the right side trace which hasn't been used. Seems like they were straightening it out...

Straightening the track.

Did you see the twisted piece at the end, too? There was a pile of bent track pieces next to where they were working, but I couldn't figure out the shape of what that part might be. Again, I'm assuming it's going to be a turn into the lift that's banked in the opposite direction. Why they would do that though, I have no idea.

Different wheels, different trains, different track. And the track takes a dip before the hops. I don't expect ejector air there, but I don't think that's what they're going for. Rather cute little pops of air to make you giggle.

They are really cutting into that structure! Can't wait for construction to get to the point where you can see the profile of the new drop. As for the pre-lift discussion, RMC definitely knows what they're doing when it comes to airtime, and the hills will be interesting and funky for sure, but I think anyone saying "Ooh airtime before the ride starts!" might be disappointed. Either way, the whole of Twisted Colossus will be awesome regardless of what the pre-lift does. Looking forward to more track installation!

Here are some other photos I found from today on Instagram. Looks like the drop is being dismantled and now there are two big holes!

Photo's like theses are why I sometimes feel like people who use instagram should die in a fire. Unnecessary filters aka, all of them on instantgram.
