WFChris
Any promotions outside of getting yourself into the park are only valid at the park you purchased the pass at. So, in short, no, you cannot use the friend coupons at SFGAdv.
The49er
^ & ^^ Okay, thanks. That might have been a misinformation; the lady selling tickets was upselling really hard, so I'm not sure what happened there. All I know is that the 3 of us with season passes successfully brought in the rest of our group as "friends".
Canobie Coaster
I found the restraints to be fine...though I will say the ride can still be a painful mess because of how it operates. I had a perfectly balanced ride (barely any rocking) and it was one of the worst coaster experiences I've ever had. Rode a less balanced ride the next time, and while not as bad as the first, the rotation still felt really limited and put all the wrong forces in all the wrong places. Gröna Lund runs Insane really well (at least so I've heard)...everything I hear from it makes me wish Green Lantern had the same ride experience.  I loved Green Lantern's intensity, but some of the abrupt motions were painful down below. It's one of those rides that I would make sure to ride every visit, but rerides would be difficult.

In fact, my friend and I found the ride to be suprisingly thrilling! Yes, I know the first thing you'll say when you see this is "YOU'RE KIDDING, RIGHT?! GREEN LANTERN, THA-RILLING? TELL THAT TO MY PELVIS!" I'll admit, my pelvis did get somewhat of a thrashing, but it was still a fun ride! And we rode it at night, which made it a lot more awesome (night rides are always better than day rides, even on an indoor coaster.) I'm sure MANY MANY MANY of you have different opinions but hey, that's just me!
coasterlvr
i see, from a friends pics from today, they now have one of those picture boards where you insert your face in. i think it's the Griswold's with farewell Colossus and the date. Also, is a replica Griswold station wagon.
ZeroG001
Has anyone been to the park this week to see how crowded it has been? I'm going on Friday (tomorrow) and want to plan accordingly. Flash pass is a no-go. We'll be there right when the park opens and probably leave a couple hours before closing. Could we get all the major stuff done? I was planning on starting at Full Throttle and working our way around the park counterclockwise, hitting Tatsu and X2 last. In the past (before Full Throttle) starting at Goliath and going counterclockwise always worked perfectly for me, but I haven't been at the park in a long time so I want to know if it still would. jray21
To me, the seats for GL were fine, but the ride itself was pretty boring. I've ridden it three times, and have only flipped one time on each ride. It seemed like whenever it was going to get really good, it would slow down or just not make it. GigaG
Why did SFMM neuter GL? And is Insane really THAT much better? The POVs I saw looked little more intense than Green Lantern. Â By the way, as said in the Scandi trip thread, never believe a ride op who says balancing is needed to ensure a train comes back right side up. On Insane, I was told that they just have two ops flip it back.

SFMM should restore GL. And Revolution.

Basically boils down to the fact that American's are lawsuit happy wusses who the park realized would not be able to handle it. Which is funny, because their neutering the ride made it terrible anyways!

It's not like Americans are made of butter or something!  I do think manually turning the cars like Grona Lund allegedly does is a bit dangerous. Someone will end up being kicked if they do this improperly. think there needs to be handles for this purpose on the outer edge of the car.  On another note, restoring GL would go perfectly with the YOLO audience. I could handle another YOLO ad campaign if it meant making this ride better.
Normalaatsra
So it finally is time that I make my way to SFMM. In 1 week I'll be in the States for the first time! Oh wait, does anyone know me? I've done a Photo TR here (click), but I have been inactive in like.. 2 years! Â Anything I need to prepare before getting there? Buy tickets early? Get the Flash Passes? Should I actually book a hotel in Santa Clarita? Especially that last one. I wanna make the most of the trip riding on as much of the coasters that are open on a good day, but I'm also coming along with a family at hand, they want to see Hollywood as well. Â Since I haven't been here for a long time, I'm rusty around the forums, so maybe I should be asking these questions elsewhere?

If your talking about a visit to Six Flags on July, 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7. (you are brave) by all means what ever your budget could handle should be your choice. If it just a 1 day visit a Flash Pass for sure and buy your entrance tickets online @$44.99 (plus some fee around $5-8 for entire order online). If its multi day your doing then perhaps just get a season pass @ $79.99 and buy 4 and get a free parking pass. If you have no budget get the VIP tour and just destroy the place with rides and photos and grub and just plain lots of VIP perks.  For hotel the area works if your doing multi day at Six Flags others wise the area doesn't make munch sense. Hilton Garden hotel offers shuttle to the park. Embassy Suite, Courtyard, Hyatt, Holiday Inn Xpress, Best Western are all on the city operated Hometown Trolley route and its the best kept secret and the trolly will drop you right at main gate of Six Flags and pick you up and all at NO CHARGE (so you avoid parking fees).  Good luck as it will be a warm time at around 38 Celsius

It's a shame but it's true. The fact the park neutered this ride to 'tone it down' just proves that even more.  I agree though, it's really stupid to buy and install a ride that was designed and meant to be intense only to immediately take that element away from it. There might be more to this but it still sucks they did that.... shame on you MM.

Tmcdllr
It doesn't have to happen, that's the point. It's the possibility that it could happen that has theme parks doing things like this. Â If this society wasn't so hell bent on trying to sue everybody for anything I guarantee you we would have awesome rides here that did not have crap like this or OTSRs that were not needed (Revolution) like they do in other countries that have people that do not try to sue everybody because rides would be more intense and run more like they were truly designed to (not heavily trimmed either). People in this country ARE wusses, yet another reason we have so many 'safety' restrictions here. Â And even so, if MM did run GL like it was designed to run with more flips the fact that, as Tim said in so many words, they would have to staff just for that means they would have to also budget for that. Not willing to budget for staff to run a multi million dollar ride the way it was designed to --- well......

singemfrc
I don't think the issue with staffing people to flip the cars still exists. I know it did when the ride was new, but in the last few years when I've come into the station upside down and been automatically rotated right side up, and when I'm sitting there waiting facing out, I see cars come in upside down and then rotate. I believe some kind of mechanical catch was installed at some point that catches the cars as they come in and rotates them if they arent right side up. I never see anyone stuck upside down anymore. This would be a good quesiton to ask someone from Intamin (whether that is correct, and if not, if it could be implemented).
Tmcdllr
That mechanism has always been there. It ensures the cars are positioned correctly but sometimes it just can't flip the cars so a staff member is needed, unless they recently improved this device it's still gonna happen.
