adamd
^Good point - they totally could've started clearing it so that maybe, just maybe they would've had a slim shot of opening it on-time (in a full year from now). I'm betting that we don't see Colossus open at all next year. I think this ends up being a 2016 debut. They redid Iron Rattler and Medusa in less than a year, however thise rides are around 3300 ft. I don't see if they go with the one continuous 8000+ ft of track being done in a year, and if that is indeed what they do I agree this will probably be their 2016 attraction, although I hope we are proven wrong and they can get it done in 10 months. Manic Monte
Yeah I was thinking July of next year as well. August seems an odd month to close a ride that would be closed nearly two years. Then again it's SFMM so who knows.
VTown661
Any word on how long Colossus will be closed while they switch back to the forward/Morgan trains? Colossus was reopened as of Wed afternoon and running forward.
singemfrc
I was hoping to get them over their fear. Green Lantern first it is [emoji14] Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I'm not kidding, if you put them on that first you may never see them again. If you really want them to jump in the deep end just take them on Full Throttle first. It's short but the hang time, the backwards, launch, and the end brake run will jump start their adrenaline.

Heard that ride is painful.
Superbatboy
I say Ninja to start, maybe Apocalypse or Colossus. Yolo might be too much, launches are really intense if you're not used to them.
XYZ
From my experiences, Green Lantern has a ton of head banging and isn't enjoyable at all. It is my least favorite ride at SFMM.
adamd
I'm 6'2 215LBS and Green Lantern is brutal IMO worse ride in the park. My girlfriend, and friends all various heights (between 5'8-6'4) and weights (between 150LBS-250LBS) all agree it's the worse ride there and all say it's just painful. The restraints for this type of ride are terrible (the same type on coasters even Intimidator 305 are great) and when you get off the ride your thighs will be red and hurting and if your over probably 5'11 those shoulder straps REALLY dig into your shoulders and you'll have marks for sure. If you REALLY want or need the credit go for it, but don't say there aren't enough warnings

coasterbill
My girlfriend is much shorter than me (I'm 6'4' and she's about 5'4') and we both agreed that out of over 200 coasters we've been on Green Lantern is the worst coaster we've ever ridden that's still in operation (Viper at Great Adventure was the worst). The head banging is amazingly brutal and the last drop feels like being uppercutted by a boxer. I don't think height is a factor... the luck of how you spin may be but in my opinion this ride just sucks.
Superbatboy
I love Green Lantern, it's so intense and feels like your soul is being ripped from your body. The restraints could be better though, I feel like they dig into my shoulder muscles usually causing soreness the next day. That being said, I feel like X2 bangs me around much more than GL but it's fun enough where it doesn't matter

It looks so tame from the ground, and then it just does with you what it will, and then dumps you like bad milk. I get why people hate it, but I think it's terrific. Mater
It's beyond me how anyone's head can be "banged" on Green Lantern given the restraint system it uses.
adamd
It's beyond me how anyone's head can be "banged" on Green Lantern given the restraint system it uses. I think they mean your head going forward and back (hitting the headrest) not side to side as that's not possible with the restraint.
The49er
I'm a skinny dude and I also think GL hurts, just because you tend to get body-slammed forward and backward on the drops.
WFChris
GL is awesome. It could be more awesome, but clearly most people cannot handle these things called 'forces' and therefore we can't have the nice version, like Insane.
Mater
I, for one, have never had a bad ride on Green Lantern. And I've been on once where we were upside down pretty much from the second drop down onwards. Probably in the top three coaster experiences of my lives. Honestly it's all about ball placement. Once you guys figure that out, it'll be a lot more comfortable for you.
FeelTheFORCE
I love Green Lantern, it's so intense and feels like your soul is being ripped from your body. That's probably the most accurate description of GL I have ever read.

I love Green Lantern, it's so intense and feels like your soul is being ripped from your body. That's probably the most accurate description of GL I have ever read. I liked that too. At least on the really good unbalanced rides thats what it feels like when you go forward and them immediately backwards again and it rips your face off. I love it! To me X2 and Revolution are both way more painful than Green Lantern, I can't explain why for sure but discomfort has never even crossed my mind while on GL. I have a feeling that how people sit in the seat (posture and/or position) may play a big part. I'd love to be able to sit there and watch how people ride and ask them how they feel when they got off and try to figure it out.

MayTheGForceBeWithYou
I found the restraints to be fine...though I will say the ride can still be a painful mess because of how it operates. I had a perfectly balanced ride (barely any rocking) and it was one of the worst coaster experiences I've ever had. Rode a less balanced ride the next time, and while not as bad as the first, the rotation still felt really limited and put all the wrong forces in all the wrong places. Gröna Lund runs Insane really well (at least so I've heard)...everything I hear from it makes me wish Green Lantern had the same ride experience. I am the same size too and the only part that hurts my crotch is when I actually get into the seat. I find the lift and lay method works really well on that center piece of the seat. Its like I'm putting it on display, and that makes him happy.
The49er
Okay, I have another SF season pass question. I mentioned that my family had bought season passes at SFMM. Let's say we decide to try to use our season passes at SFGAdv in the fall. The bring-a-friend option is available once per month, and we have 5 people and 3 season passes. Would the bring-a-friend perk work at SFGAdv, or would we need to buy 2 more tickets?

Would the bring-a-friend perk work at SFGAdv, or would we need to buy 2 more tickets? By all means I have no idea. But in cross checking the dates available at SFMM compared to SFGAdv. SFMM bring free friend dates your asking for is ticket #6 9/25 and ticket #7 11/24-26. SFGAdv is not open on any of those dates so that angle is mute point. I see no where on either SF site the mention of option of "bring a friend free once a month" so no idea where you see this? I would say your SOL and need to pony up for a cpl tickets.
