Tmcdllr
Went for a quick visit yesterday and finally rode YOLO, it's actually a really fun ride but wish it was longer. Wanted to ride Namtab and Colossus but surprise.... both were closed. . Rode Revolution a few times and besides the logo (forget which company it's for) I really like the look of the black train, this must be the recently rehabbed train. I rode in both trains and you do notice a difference between the two.
i<3coasters
Any word on how long Colossus will be closed while they switch back to the forward/Morgan trains?
Tmcdllr
Also noticed the colored 'stripes' on the top of YOLO's loop, they looked intentional, not like a repair but like they were put there for some other reason as they seem to be perfectly spaced and different colors. What are they for?

I rode in both trains and you do notice a difference between the two. Weird, wasnt aware that they had rehabbed either train, I will have to try that. The extended closure was reportedly due to a large tree limb that fell onto the tracks and was dragged through the brakes by a train causing major damage to the brake run. Â Namtab definitely will be closed for at least a few days while they switch back to the forward trains and relabel the station (back to 8 rows from 7), but Im not sure why Colossus is closed since the trains are completely separate and they are used to going back and forth for Fright Fest, there usually isn't an extended closure for that. Maybe it has to do with them removing the B&M trains from the track since they will never be used again?
Tmcdllr
A tree limb? Wow, that must have been a mess. Â It did look like they had been doing work on the 3rd revolution train. Â We did see maintenance working on the Morgan trains on Colossus and the Psyclone trains were also still there. Â One major difference between the two Revolution trains was the black train would stop hard at the final brake run, almost to a crawl, where the other train did not- I assume from new parts on the black train. I rode the black train several times and it was like that each time.
adamd
Any word on how long Colossus will be closed while they switch back to the forward/Morgan trains? Â Why didn't they just close it down and gain the extra 2 months to start converting it (if indeed that's what they're doing with the ride)? The reason probably is so everyone gets a final farewell, but I think people would welcome the ride opening on time, or even early as opposed to being delayed which seems to be a trend with Six Flags lately. coasterfreak101
^Good point - they totally could've started clearing it so that maybe, just maybe they would've had a slim shot of opening it on-time (in a full year from now).
The49er
I was watching a video of SFMM's old Deja Vu ( ), and there were plenty of hilarious comments they shut the ride down cause there was a aciddent where ur lokking down some one let go there seat belt and die This is exactly like the Roller Coaster at Silverwood called Aftershock but the DeJa Vu one is way bigger and faster and better And the golden error... i can't believe they moved this to england! CPSFMMCW
According to CaliforniaCoasterKings, construction walls have appeared in the déjà vu area. Here's my thoughts: Six Flags announces a 400 foot SkyScreamer and iron colossus this year, but colossus doesn't open till next year and SkyScreamer opens next year in déjà vu's spot. Please tell me we’re finally getting a flat ride!  Something to keep our eye on when people visit. so we can see what changes between now and Aug
Superbatboy
If MM gets a flatride I doubt it'd be a sky screamer, aren't they like $6 mil? (the same price as Yolo) doubt they'd spend such an exorbitant amount on yet another observation deck

RissaBooBissa
Thanks for the input on the FP, guys! I think we're just gonna go ahead and get the flashpass anyway. It'll my honeymoon and I want to make the absolute best of it. Would love to ride the rides over and over until I'm sick of it. Â It's been years since I've visited the park! I think the last time I've been was 2008? Crazy. Glad I'll be able to - well, hopefully - ride Colossus again before it goes bye-bye.

transfo
Hey guys, I'm planning to go to MM the week of the 22nd. Not sure yet, all dates are possible except the 26th. How will crowds be that week? We want to hit Yolo, Tatsu, X2, etc so what time do we have to get there? Also I have a friend who's coming who's scared of roller coasters, what would be the best for him to start on? Thanks, -transfo

Thanks,-transfo  It's summer so it will be busy. Saturdays are busiest followed by Sunday and then Friday then weekdays (barring events/deal days) Best to show up at least 45 mins prior to park opening to get far ahead enough in line that you have your choice of first ride with no line. For making the most of your time I recommend starting with YOLOCoaster if you arent purchasing a platinum FP and a $15 YOLO ride. If you do that you can come back to X2 at about 4:30pm when the line will be minimal. Tatsu can be ridden anytime using a flash pass (if you're going on a weekend, get a gold flash pass).  I like using this site to kind of monitor the crowds for a few days to guestimate how crowded it'll be. If that makes sense... www.isitpacked.com/ And if they're scared of coasters... I think SFMM is the WRONG place to be. LOL! But, to answer your question... X2. (totally kidding!) If the person is literally afraid of all coasters she may be right..he might be in for a boring day. Ironically back when I was still afraid of "extreme" coasters I was dragged onto X as my first ride of the day. I wasn't happy about it as I was going up the lift hill, but I was pumped up when I got off and ready to ride again. It certainly is a good trial by fire. If you think it would be wiser to warm them up on something first, Colossus and Gold Rusher are the best non-kiddie starters. I would say Revolution, but pain can turn people off of coasters and that thing is nothing if not painful. (Same reason why I wouldnt recommend X2 even though I started on it, its very painful right now)  Whatever you do, don't put them on Green Lantern first, they may never go near a coaster again! lol  Oh! Also, there is a phone app on iOS and Android called "RideHopper" that can sometimes give pretty accurate info on wait times. It's user input based, so there's always the potential that someone misjudges time or trolls bad info, but the more submissions they get it averages out and SFMM gets more input than any other so it's usually pretty good. Theyve taken steps to make it more accurate by only allowing those in the park (checking GPS) to input times and it also has a built in timer so you can start your time when you get in line and then post the time it took when you get to the station. Recently the Android version also added alerts so you can set it to "Alert me when the ride has a wait of < or > # of minutes"  Just don't take the times literally, use it more as a guide to see whats busy and what isnt (or whats closed). I believe its 1.99 on android but free on iOS.

XYZ
Honestly, Knott's is a great place to have people get over their fear of roller coasters as they have 4 family coasters there. Â If you aren't going to Knott's, then Ninja is a pretty good starter coaster for those who have a fear of coasters.
Tmcdllr
Yeah Ninja is fun, but it's not scary fun. It's really a good acclimation coaster. Â And then maybe Revolution, it's like a leisurely trip through the woods with a loop, which is fun and not scary. If you keep your head back you don't get bashed as much.
