The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Page 2228 - Wonder Woman Flight of Courage REAL POV!

Fingers crossed they just plow it for a low capacity, short coaster that'll get constant construction delays but open up just in time for Labor Day next summer.

In all seriousness, I'm glad to see Six Flags has found the potential in RMC... when will Cedar Fair discover it?

If it turns out to get the iron treatment. I hope they stay with dueling sides. I know in the past rumors were saying one side or even converting it to one track. I love to see what RMC could do with a dueling coaster.

Could this mean...?

Kind of interesting, though, how we've seen several rides that were once record-breakers that are being torn down or re-imagined. I sure hope this ride gets the RMC treatment rather than the Rolling Thunder treatment...

Wow!! Looks like RMC might possibly do some magic on Colossus! Can't wait to see what's in store!

Let's take this opportunity to go back to 1978 to check out Colossus in it's prime form. I found this video of a bunch of news reel footage of when Colossus first opened.

Notice the wicked airtime hill coming out of the second drop. If RMC is indeed coming to renovate, I know they'll take Colossus and do something incredible with it.

Wow, what a surprise! This could be interesting though, with Colossus (almost guaranteed) getting the Iron Horse in 2015 (unless it's delayed to 2016...) and Cyclone at SFNE in a similar situation (but not yet confirmed), what does this mean for the other SF parks? Does anyone know the cost of an RMC Iron Horse redo as compared to a complete RMC start to finish coaster? What I'm getting at is whether or not another coaster will be built start to finish at a SF park. The last two or three years it has been one Iron Horse and one new coaster. In 2015 we will likely see two Iron Horse projects.

LOL it looks like the guy sitting next to him at 1:25 during the reverse POV is wearing iPhone headphones!

As for the coaster, I'm expecting a higher lift, steeper drop, restoration of the double up, low bunny hills for negative G's, maybe even some zero g rolls, stalls, overbanks obviously. Maybe the tracks will even twist around one another rather than stay parallel but that may not be the case. A 2016 opening? It took nTAG two years.

I'm all for RMC coming in and doing a renovation. I'm also all for preserving the classics. It seems like RMC has only come in to do something with the not-as-old but broken woodies. Colossus is old and not as broken based on what I've read, so I personally would have tried to preserve it. BUT, there is another wooden coaster in the park and there is a plethora of things RMC can do to make this classic new and amazing and I'm excited to see what they will do! (Assuming we do get it)

I could portentially see a record for steepest drop and an inversion record because of the track length; they have a little more to work with. I'm excited to see what they will do; should be a very interesting, but lengthy project so I can't wait to get an official announcement and begin following progress!

I have family that lives near the park so I may have to make a visit in a couple of years!

The ride, like so many older coasters, has been neutered though. There are breaks where there once weren't, track has been flattened where there used to be good ejector air. With RMC's computer aided design, new trains, and newer lapbars/seatbelts/leg restraints, the coaster will be allowed to do things that it once was doing but have since been discontinued.
