Jerome
Just to warn you, Green Lantern typically likes to beat the livings out of you. Also, X2 typically has a shorter line at around 3pm, so I would recommend running to Tatsu first. This is my thinking also. On a busy day. I head to Tatsu first. Then there is almost no line to Superman. Then it's down the hill to the back side of the park where it's empty.
_IntaMAN_
How busy should the park be Saturday the 19th?
SFMMGeek27
^ Very. 90 min+ for the headliners, 60+ for moderately popular coasters, and 30+ for the less popular/not as thrilling coasters. Right in the middle of LA's Spring Break. Good luck if you do go.

_IntaMAN_
I'm a regular but I've NEVER visited SFMM on a Saturday and just wanted to know. We're going for a friends birthday and are seriously considering buying FlashPass Gold. Are all attractions on FlashPass Gold?

We're going for a friends birthday and are seriously considering buying FlashPass Gold. Are all attractions on FlashPass Gold? All except X2 and Full Throttle. X2 you can purchase rides on for $15/person/ride with your gold flash pass. Normally you can do the same for YOLO with a platinum pass, but while it's on one train they arent selling any reservations, so just run to it as soon as the park opens and get in one ride before it's a 60 min wait. coasternut
Yes, if you want quality coasters good for thrills go to Cedar Point. If you want a trashy park with mild thrill roller coasters go to Six Flags Magic Mountain. I honestly think they are all about records... I beg to differ with you. I feel totally opposite. I grew up with Cedar Point as my home park. I have a great time at M.M. I can't say the same about the Point. Now, none of their coasters are in my top of any of my lists (either steel or wood). My favorite is the now 50 year old Blue Streak. It's my #5 woodie.
JonnyRCT3
Lets not turn this into a fanboy massacre. Both parks offer great coasters (X2, Tatsu, Maverick, Millennium Force). Other than coasters the parks vary, heavily.
aCoasterStory
I'm a regular but I've NEVER visited SFMM on a Saturday and just wanted to know. We're going for a friends birthday and are seriously considering buying FlashPass Gold. Are all attractions on FlashPass Gold? I would recommend it. That being said, I visited on a Saturday last August and was able to get through most of the rides with minimal wait. Used the Gold Season Pass to get early entry at 10:20 and hustled to Full Throttle. Went out on the first train, and I was on my way to X2 by the time the main gates opened. Had nearly no wait for X2 because I was ahead of the main rush. By the time I got off X2, the main rush was just getting up that way, and I was able to stay ahead of it and hit Tatsu and then Ninja, all within the first 45 min. Then I hit Superman (minimal line, but it went down briefly), walked back to see if Apocalypse was open (it wasn't), and then Goldrusher, Riddler's (via the SR line), Batman, Green Lantern (via the SR line). Even with only 1 train, Scream's line wasn't more than 15 min. Followed that up with Colossus & LL:DoD (via the SR line). At that point, it was nearly 2, and Goliath's hour wait was the first line I encountered longer than 15 minutes all day. At that point, I'd hit all the adult coasters that were open except Viper and Revolution, both of which have SR lines. The trick was just keeping up an aggressive pace and staying ahead of the crowd as they circle around the park. Single Rider lines helped a lot (which I know won't be an option for your group), but I just thought I'd share my experience.

robbalvey
Joey was out at the park yesterday since they extended park hours for Spring Break, so here's a bit of an update for you all! Looks like all the work done to the entrance are with the new turnstiles is DONE! Peeps and Six Flags - is this a good combo? M&Ms have been replaced by Jelly Belly! Full Throttle stage being re-built. Full Throttle currently running one train. Here's a quick look inside. Lots of changes from the old Mooseburger configuration. Yay! Painted carrots! More painting and refurbishments going on in this area. The new coaster is progressing...slowly...but there's some sign of work at least. Coaster porn for you! Swashbuckler is still in many many many pieces. I'm assuming they are going to update these 2013 signs, right? Hey look! Colossus is now running BACKWARDS! Yup, those old Psyclone trains live on! Water rides are now open! More coaster porn! Ninja is still a favorite! As is Tatsu! Some work being done on the family raft ride at Hurricane Harbor! And yes! Colossus is backwards again! There's a closer look at it. Kinda loving the retro 1980s Colossus train they went with for the poster! Well, it's official...it's the YOLO Sports Bar! The Carousel is naked! Six Flags Enthuseast
This is reminding me of how badly I need to get to SFMM for the new credits! I definitely need to give Tatsu another whirl since I don't have fond memories of it (riding in the front made my head explode.)

Jew
^^^Actually, using chains for queue is CLASSY by SFMM standards. That means someone took time to cut the chains to the right sizes and properly install them. Has a much cleaner look than rope...
Jerome
Is it just me, or are the surveys that SF is sending lately too stupid to even justify completing them? I just took a survey about possible events in the park. I think Magic Mountains needs events that will get a bigger mix of people in the park. The49er
Hello! I'm visiting SFMM on a Thursday at the beginning of June, and I will not be using any sort of Flash Pass. What kind of crowds should I expect? (Of course, I understand that X2 and YOLO will probably have long lines through 99.9% of days, GL is generally a slow loader, etc.) The following coasters are new credits to me, and I hope to hit as many as possible (in approximate order of importance): -X2 -S:EFK -GL -YOLO -BTR -Apocalypse -Riddler -Lex (not a coaster, but would be interesting to try nonetheless) -Goldrusher I'm hearing that starting at YOLO and proceeding counter-clockwise around the park is a decent game plan, and ditto for riding X2 during a meal time. Your thoughts?
singemfrc
^ Actually I'm assuming YOLO will be done with maintenance by then, so it shouldn't be too bad. Take your pick of either Yolo or X2 in the morning and whichever you don't do in the morning come back between 4 and 5 pm and the line will be minimal. If you're not using a flash pass and you aren't in a big party take advantage of single rider lines, they can make a huge difference on Green Lantern, Lex Luthor, and Riddlers and on really busy days you can also use them on Viper and Revolution (if it's open by then). The SR lines for GL and RR are really great because you literally bypass the entire queue. The SR line goes right to the dispatching ride operator who puts you in the next empty seat. With RR you can almost always walk straight onto a train without breaking stride. GL you may wait a couple minutes depending on how many uneven groups there are. Lex you can still sometimes wait 10-15 mins for, so if the line isn't longer than that it may not be worth it. Lex Luthor is definitely fun, best drop ride out there in my opinion, at least until the one at SFGAdv is open. If you get lucky a SEFK car will scream up the track while you're near the top
