Top Thrill Dragster
So does anyone have a pic of the new FT station? Really interested in seeing what it looks like... Here you go, YOLOcoaster now has a permanent station cover but lets first reflect on the previous attempts... Still looks like crap. But hey, it matches the rest of the park! simaticable
In keeping with SFMM tradition: According to an inside source, we may not see X2 reopen at Magic Mountain until March at this point. I’m honestly not sure what would keep one of the park’s most unique coasters closed for 6 months, but it is disappointing to be sure. Source: Screamscape At this point, nothing may be better. cfc
So they replaced a temporary awning with a tuff shed. At least you can replicate part of the SFMM experience in your backyard.
CoasterKings908
Full Throttle's new station canopy has to be worse than a majority of the station canopies at California's Great America.
gerstlaueringvar
What? Six Flags Magic Mountain want to compete with the fairs on their coaster stations?
DJeXeL
So they replaced a temporary awning with a tuff shed. At least you can replicate part of the SFMM experience in your backyard. Do you really want trash all over your backyard?
DougMJr
Wow, that's exceptionally ugly. Such Yolo, much effort, wow.
boardwalkbullet91507
That station looks really lousy. What is it with Magic Mountain and their extensive BS-ery on their theming? Do they just invest too much on rides and attractions that any sort of nice-looking theming just isn't financially feasible? It seems like they spend as little as possible on theming; whatever gets the ride open will do.
dylanreich
^That station roof totally made the ride worse. Seriously, why do people even care about this? I will say I actually do like the plaza with it's steam jet things out of the ground and the big screen at the FT line, but that's probably just me.And, I think the nice theming on recent additions like Green Lantern and Lex Luther beg to differ. If this thread spent half the time complaining about things actually worth complaining about, like understaffing, food options, overall cleanliness, etc. maybe they would actually take note. EDIT: and no praise for their ongoing toy drive with free admission. Ok, rant over.
RollerCoasterAwesome
Mini update from yesterday Here's another angle Maybe a new slab of concrete And nothing to report over by the tree So yeah, its for somthing Anyone know what's happening over by Road Runner Express

VTown661
Why can't SFMM be like Disneyland as their rides never go down.
Jew
There's a difference between temporary downtime (which happens at EVERY park) and having two marquee rides down for extended periods of time that weren't scheduled rehabs (most likely in part because SFMM is too cheap to pay for the parts, but I admit that is just my assumption and not 100% fact), which is still the case for X2 and was the case of YOLOCoaster for a few weeks. IIRC, Goliath and RRv also had extended downtimes while SFMM had to "wait for a part" (lift sprocket I think)?
MichaelScottParisi
At Six Flags Magic Mountain right now, while on Viper you can see the lift chain which I can only assume belongs to X2. edit: photo removed, since loose articles are not allowed on the ride.-Joey Edited December 15, 2013 by Jew
VTown661
Okay I won't pound on Disneyland even though Big Thunder was due to reopen on Oct 2013. And don't count my 195 blackout dates. Now What seems to be a mention of "lift sprocket" as that hasn't been mentioned in this thread in about 2/3 years?
XYZ
Be happy that Disneyland is renovating old rides like Big Thunder and isn't letting them rot away like what SFMM is doing.

Jew
The point is SFMM has a history of extended downtimes that were NOT planned maintenance. X2 and YOLOCoaster are just the latest. So it begs the question: does SFMM just have terrible luck, or are corners being cut somewhere?

daveydo5172
So, X2 is now down until March 2014...Why do I have a feeling that they DON'T actually plan on reopening it ever, and instead will come up with some excuse as the coaster is no longer able to be repaired or whatever. I would almost bet that its not going to reopen! Hmmmm...I sense a strong Flashback deja vu here...
_IntaMAN_
^^ I think it would look much better without the big ugly orange walls and with somñé ndscape built around a black fence instead, but SFMM deserves an award that says "At least you tried". SFMMGeek27
^^Don't even say that. I would literally chain myself to the supports like the Save Déjà Vu Facebook guy said he would when Vu was being taken out. Then I would never visit the park again. They better reopen it, or else. Anyone wanna start a donation collection so that we can donate some funds to the park so they can get the ride open? It's seriously coming down to this.
