fpsphil
Just got back from the park today and man it was hot. YOLOcoaster was down for over 2 hours in the afternoon due to overheating which worries me for the upcoming summer season when it comes to it's reliability. Finally got my first run on lex Luther and what a drop (kinda weird I haven't been to the park since wcb and there were 2 new rides. Overall pretty fun, got super crowded later in the day with all the YOLOers started showing up. On a side note, the full throttle plaza needs a lot of work still. It's like they just threw up shit last minute to get the damn ride open, kinda sad looking. The YOLOstage was temporary, there were still footers for log jammer on the hill. And what was funny I saw a few construction workers working in the area still doing landscaping and work on the fences. Hopefully they clean the area up and make it look a little more permanent but I highly doubt they will. Rides great though, the hangtime was great, way above what I expected. jray21
Currently at SFMM. YOLOcoaster, Tatsu, and X2 are all broken down and it's not looking good. Update: Oriental Express and Lex Luthor are also broken down, but with people stuck inside. This park really kind of sucks. Sounds like there might have been a power outage/surge. Is is really that tough to continue the successful practices of a predecessor who set a good example? No, it is not. I know whenever I started a new job I always made sure to keep constituents happy which what had worked in the past, instead of just stopping a practice because it was not my idea. Honestly, Jay may have set a good example, but I got the feeling no one bought into what he was trying to sell after awhile. I felt like things reverted back to their historical (crappier) levels after his first year. But lets be honest---until Six Flags decides to invest real money in their employees in the form of real perks/benefits besides free tickets, a better employee cafeteria, pays them more than minimum wage, offers competitive salaries to their management, etc...nothing is going to change. There has to be an actual support system in place for a culture change to succeed. To me, the perception of Bonnie as "the ice queen" is just her conceding the fact she will make no change to the culture because that's not their business model. A perfect example: the mechanics/electricians responsible for the rides seem to bail on SFMM as soon as there are openings at other theme parks. Because the pay and benefits are FAR less than what they can get at USH or DLR...even after they had to fight hard to unionize 10 years ago. I absolutely agree. Until the culture and support structure changes, it doesn't matter who is park president because it will be the same. As for the Yolo website, they are still showing the animated video with the "You Only Live Once" beginning. You'd think since the ride is actually open they would put the real video up. SFMMGeek27
Am I the only one who had a good day at the park today? I got there at 1 and only waited 30 minutes for FT (90 minutes posted). New station cover. And there is music in the tunnel now. It's the Crazy Train audio that was heard on some of the POVs. Also got a ride on Lex Luthor and Riddler with no problem. Then walked up to Tatsu and happened to be some of the first people on after in reopened (1 train running, other train parked on the other side of the station.). Then headed up to Superman. Both sides were running so there was only about a 20 minute wait. Then saw X2 was open so headed down there. Waited 30 minutes and got on. Train #2 is now on the track and smooth as ever. However, there is a strange squeaking going around the large curve to the right in the middle of the ride. It sounded like it was coming from the wheels. It was loud and noticeable while waiting in line. Train #1 (the other one on the track) was not squeaking. Not a bad day. I guess I just had good timing! jray21
I can't believe they have them as walk around characters, but it's SF, so I guess I can.

I know whenever I started a new job I always made sure to keep constituents happy which what had worked in the past, instead of just stopping a practice because it was not my idea. Sounds like laziness or jealousy to me. Without seeing the financial statements for Magic Mountain, I can't necessarily tell you if Jays methods were successful or not. Catering to the enthusiast market does not make a park successful. Although the enthusiast community is small they are influential. I know people ask me all the time for advice. If you piss off the enthusiast community you lose potential customers.

ernierocker
^I believe you are confusing the generalized term of "coaster enthusiast" with Ace Member.
AnonymousReed
Went in the park early today and got on Full Throttle. Great Ride! Awesome hang-time and some pretty awesome tunnel music in my opinion! I also noticed they've updated those murals under the X2 bridge with all of the current coasters including Full Throttle and Lex Luthor. Would've taken a picture but my phone was dead. I managed to take pictures of all of them during my visit to the park a few days ago.

Jew
Yeah those murals are one of the nice little touches in the park...wish there were more cool little things like that in the place! Agreed. If they showed the same care as they did with the murals through the rest of the park---I can only imagine how nice the park would be. XYZ
^It's strange on how Revolution is not on there, but it's no big deal as I like how SFMM refurbished their sign.
_IntaMAN_
I'm also happy SFMM updated their murals, it's these small things that make the park nicer than what we are lead to believe, I just wish SFMM could pay more attention to other things at the park... One can only hope.
Tmcdllr
Maybe Colossus is there because "something" is going to happen to it? Maybe Revolution is not there because nothing is going to be done.
