The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Just got off Wicked Cyclone... now I've been on both 2015 RMCs... To my surprise.... I actually think I like Twisted Colossus more I thought WC would get the slight edge. I may feel differently after more rides

I thought the same after my first ride on WC, but rode it later in the day and it was hauling ass. Its much better than TC once it warms up lol.

A 400-foot SkyScreamer on top of Samurai Summit would be ridiculous (in a good way). And it would be every more terrifying considering that the San Andreas earthquake fault is a few miles away...

If, by, "a few miles," you mean 45 miles away in south Palmdale, then sure.

Still, though, SkyScreamers are the most evil ride ever created by man. Bring it.

Hard not to prefer a coaster that rides the same structure twice.

If anyone is at the park today, please let us know how are the crowds.

OH NO!!!! I had the bright idea of going to the park oct 12-13th but after reading I realize it is no longer a year around park with daily operations! Luckly, I see the park is open the 12th for Columbus day . . .so, is there anything else in the area to do on the 13th or should I just fly back home?

I think a warmed up Wicked Cyclone is the better ride also. For me Wicked Cyclone is more intense and relentless, while TC is more "fun".

Disney and Knott's are open year round. Or see the Space Shuttle Endeavor at the Los Angeles Science Center.

I think I'm going to agree (and change my mind from what I said this morning)... WC is def better in the late afternoon/warmed up. Noticeably better airtime... the ejector and sideways airtime is divine

Bizarro is overrated :/

I would definitely check out Knott's on the 13th. The park will be completely dead and there are plenty of great rides, even with the Ghostrider closure.

Today is the day your friends will tell you they did every ride in about 3 hours, yes it is not busy at all.

I just left at 3:30. Looks like perfect week to go.

Agreed. Make your own little West Coast Bash. Knott's is fantastic, in contrast to SFMM it's a lot more than just the coasters, it's a very nice park. That said though, Xcelerator, Silver Bullet, and Montezooma's Revenge are all amazing. Don't forget to eat at Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner and have some boysenberry pie.

I plan on visiting Sunday, September 6, my first theme park in EEUU and I was wondering what kind of crowd I can expect. What rides should we hit as soon as we get there? any suggestion to park the car?
Should be pretty light crowds, doubt you will need a flash pass. Maybe 30-40min average wait at peak I'd estimate. Parking is easy, but does cost $20 USD per car. If you don't already have one from SF Mexico and you're planning on visiting more than one Six Flags park in los Estados Unidos this year, you may want to think about purchasing a Gold Season Pass, which gets you admission (and early entry to Magic Mountain) plus free parking to all Six Flags parks in the EEUU and Mexico (but not La Ronde in Canada).

Was at the park on Sunday. Healthy crowd, with Goliath being over an hour wait due to meh operations. TC line moved pretty quick, but didn't get to duel. Was really amazing going from waiting an hour for Goliath then walking over to X2 and walking right into the station. Also saw a fight break out in front of Food Etc. (arguing was going on the exit side of the Goliath when I boarded). Security was a little slow to respond, but some normal staff members were able to break it up until security got there and they were escorted out. All coasters were running smoothly, even Riddler's which is as intense as ever.

I was there too. Goliath was by far the longest wait in the park for whatever reason. Tatsu' switchbacks were only half full in the middle of the afternoon and X2 was never longer than a station wait all day. In fact, I went right when the park opened and got 2 rides in a row on X2 without having to get out of my seat! I could've gone a third time with I one train wait but I decided to move on. I came back and got 2 more rides in in the afternoon.

I dueled on TC once, and the line was never that bad. I waited from outside the entrance and it was 30 minutes even. After I rode, the line was inside the entrance.

Universal is good too, just not a coaster park.
