WFChris
Paint the coaster, enhance the trains and make the entrance look more enticing. Anything more than that and I'll be shocked. I honestly do not care that much about a parking lot underneath a decade old coaster. They'll do all that work, and people will still dismiss the ride as "rough". The only people I ever hear complaining about it being rough are enthusiasts. The GP (and hell, myself as well) find the ride as smooth as any other B&M, and much smoother than many other coasters in the park. I have also never heard anybody complain about the parking lot lines except for the enthusiast world. As mentioned before, Colossus has them beneath it as well and nobody complained about that. I would love some Kumba-esq grass underneath it, but that will never happen with our drought issue going on right now. Some California 'Baja Ridge' style landscaping would go a long way though. If they can put a Chinese restaurant in the Mexico themed land, they can theme the steampunk area to Mexico

Nrthwnd
^^ When Colossus opened, the www didn't exist. So we accepted it, rode the coaster and that was that. Only now when opinion and criticism are more rampant and more immediate around the electronic world... We're just starting to see all those parking lot lines, lol. It's still sad, that they never really considered doing anything below the coaster, once they built it.

MrSum1_55
^^That actually sounds pretty awesome. Fits the YOLO theme really well. I am not sure what it is about Scream, but it seeme to be very hit-or-miss whenever I ride it. Sometimes, it is as smooth as any other B&M, and sometimes it is one of the worst big B&M's out there. It does tend to be worse toward the front, though. I would actually say the same about the roughness on Riddler, only Riddler tends to be worse in the back. However, Scream is just kind of the ride that is just 'there' for me. In fact, I sometimes even forget that the ride is at the park when I am in it. It would be a somewhat impressive ride at almost any other park, but at SFMM it adds little to the lineup and is mostly just tucked away in the corner. I do agree that this corner of the park desperately needs an upgrade, and I am glad it is getting one. (Actually, the entire park less DC Universe could use an upgrade, but at least something is happening). At SFMM, the best thing to do when you hope an area will get in upgrade is hope that a new ride will be built there without YOLO theming.
robbalvey
^^ When Colossus opened, the www didn't exist. So we accepted it, rode the coaster and that was that. And remember, when Colossus first opened, even though the lines were there, they weren't as obvious as they are on Scream. Partially because the structure itself was so massive because it covered them up, and also because I'm sure the paint used to stripe them at that time wasn't as good. By 1980 when this picture was taken, they were gone.
WFChris
^Although I'm hoping that TC will add some new life to Scream, I'm a little sad that my 'Go-To-Big-Coaster' with no line might have a consistent line now! What if they took the white parking lot lines and extended them out so there were just a bunch of random white lines on the ground (but not parking spots!)? Do you think that would help or make it even more chaotic and weird than it is already?
Nrthwnd
^ Maybe there should be a Start Up thing, or whatever they call it online, to raise funds to buy pavement paint and hire an artist? And give me an overhead view of the coaster and the parking lot, and I will design something ScreamPunk around it, lol!
JeromyL
I admit that I was "one" of the oblivious ones. I never noticed the parking lot until I joined up here on TPR. (But I am learning

WFChris
^OMG thats the best idea ever! It would really round out the offerings over in that dead end! ^^That's kind of where I was coming from. When I ride coasters, I am looking at the track itself, the horizon, and the sky. My attention is pretty much never focused on the ground. I agree that it's no excuse for the area to look like crap, but that being said, the ground underneath Scream cannot be seen from inside the park so I can see why it's not a big priority to the powers-that-be at SFMM. Hopefully the 3 month downtime for that corner of the park produces ~something~ under the coaster! Edited January 9, 2015 by WFChris
Nrthwnd
^^ Yes it would! and ^ If the paint job is done right, you'd see it while riding the coaster, I bet.

SimiGeek
I heard they were removing the Full Throttle stage today. IS it just me or does this seem like a complete waste of time to remove it when it will be open again for summer in 3 months.
Vonni
I agree with a previous poster, simply pouring gravel all under Scream would be all it would take to make the ride and its area look presentable. I just don't understand SFMM.
am1500
Here are some pictures I took of the park today! On the construction site, there were pieces of wood and support beams littered all over the scream/colossus area. Most of the work seemed to be focused on the lift hill but I don't know what they were doing up there. The green airtime hill is now finished and both tracks have started going up the first hill. It was an awesome day at the park with almost no lines for most rides. I had a really awesome ride on X2 which actually had one of the flame throwers working. It was a surprisingly smooth ride given the fact that the very same train felt like it was trying to kill me two days before! Gating up the YOLO area for the deconstruction of the stage. Goliath supports. Couldn't get a good picture of the the Steampunk area construction. Pretty much all of brick divider in front of the ice cream shop is gone. They also ripping out all of the bushed and trees, which sucks cuz less shade for the area. Hopefully they will replant many trees. Wall. Empty batman train means many re-rides for me! I really hope the park will open the Sky Tower sometime. I bet you could get some sick picks of the new Colossus from up there. From the X2 queue. The classic trio pic. I'm really digging the profile. Not much has changed since berryfarm's post but I still hope you enjoyed!

Jew
I heard they were removing the YOLOcoaster stage today. IS it just me or does this seem like a complete waste of time to remove it when it will be open again for summer in 3 months. It's not a major undertaking to remove a stage designed to be temporary. I wouldn't even be surprised if SFMM rents the stage from a production company. Edited January 9, 2015 by Jew
leogiglio
Hello Thrill Lovers, I am from Brazil and I will be in CA for a quick family trip but I am trying to go to Magic Mountain either on Jan 24 or 25. It is my first time in CA, although I´ve been to the US many times before. As I will be by myself and I am a first-timer, can you guys give some advice? Anyone going on the same dates? Are there single riders lines on the park? Is the Flash Pass worth it? Is it too cold to ride? How crowded is it in winter? All the best, Leo
