The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Ok I got. Twisted Sisters.

Kentucky Kingdom tried that years ago and were sued out of the name. Twisted Twins were originally called Twisted Sisters.

The ride will be based on Dee Snider and his band Twisted Sister.

Maybe if there was some sort of a complicated deal with the corporation that owns the band name. But even then, I think it would be completely lost on 99.9% of the Six Flags YOLO crowd.

Nothing says yolo like Dee Snider.

Dee Snider rocks and is super cool. Yolo is super annoying. But I get what you're saying

Going through some old Magic Mountain footage and I found this! I think this might be one of my favorite "old school" coaster clips. It's just so cheesy, borderline creepy, and the 80s porno music just makes it AWESOME! Check it out...

I still have that VHS buried in a box somewhere! It is very cheesy... but awesome to watch at the same time. If you had coaster friends (remember, this was pre-internet), there were home made tapes going around, so it was nice to have something produced with half way decent quality (minus the creepy content). I think most of the coasters were sped-up in the POVs!

My guess is Ultimate Colossus. Why?

-Well, today Robb posted this video titled "Ultimate Colossus ..."

  • Robb has inside knowledge into the amusement industry.

  • There are 3 pov's of Colossus in the video.

  • Robb previously worked in the video game industry.

  • There are 3 'S's in Colossus

Now what does this mean - Ultimate Colossus and Half Life 3 CONFIRMED

From the site

Colossus Fans! Here are some more details about tomorrow’s (Saturday 8/16/2014) Save Colossus! rally:

Location: The rally is at the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road in Valencia, CA, just west of I-5 and just before the park entrance. The map below shows where we are meeting.

Time: There is an early-bird rally at 6AM, where KTLA television station will film our effort and conduct interviews. If you want to be on TV, this is a great time to go.

Swag: We have Save Colossus! stickers, Save Colossus! car magnets, and Save Colossus! t-shirts. In addition to the 10 t-shirts I’ve set aside for the first 10 supporters, we will also be raffling away another 10 over the course of the 2 1/2 hour rally. Note: I have only made 31 of these t-shirts and these are becoming VERY popular with the news outlets.

Food and drinks. Wendy’s has offered a 20% discount to our supporters. Just bring in a Save Colossus sticker, car magnet or t-shirt and get 20% off. If you want a fancier sit-down meal, Marie Callenders has offered us a 15% discount. These discounts are tomorrow only.

This is a great time to show your support for Colossus. Please come out AND share with friends.

I really want to see all... 10 of these supporters standing out front... Please post the news videos when they come out...

I hope we get a statement from these people when they announce the future plans for the ride. I bet there going to say that they were successful in saving the ride...

*facepalm*

Apparently, SFMM is handing out buttons to the first 5,000 people through the gates that say "I got my last ride on the big woodie." Wow.

On another note, TPR's Twitter is complaining that the ride is only running one side on its final day. Hasn't the other side been left to rot since 2008 or so?

Sorry if I've missed this, but is the rumored Sunday passholder event of thing? I'd like to get one last ride in, but I'm not sure I want to battle the long lines there seem to be today (TPR's Twitter is claiming over 2 hours!). Ha ha

I still don't get what exactly they're trying to save it from. Save it from improvement? From running like it should? From not looking like an utter disgrace with one side totally rotted out and unuseable? From that ridiculous flattened out camelback ever being restored?

Are they trying to save us all from having a huge, brand new, top of the line, insane-looking, very attractive-looking insane RMC coaster similar to SFGAm's Goliath, or Iron Rattler or New Texas Giant? A spectacular ride that would impress today's audiences in much the same fashion as the original Colossus impressed audiences of the 1970s? Is that what they are here to prevent? That's what it looks like to me.

^ Not surprised at all that they're only running one side. That's the Six Flags way!

Well, they've been letting the other side rot for years IIRC. This was inevitable. They can't fix it just now. The problem has been there for a long time.

Exactly! I don't think these people get it. Sure, Colossus may be sentimental to them but look at the state it's in now. Really there are only 2 things that can be done, tear it completely down or improve it. Personally I like the improve it idea better. And who knows, maybe just maybe, these same people will love the new ride even better. But it looks like they don't want a huge, brand new, top of the line, insane looking very attractive coaster, they just want to keep the crap that is Colossus now. Yeah, I love Colossus too, I have great memories riding it as a child. But it's time for this change, time for it to evolve into something new and spectacular, something that will bring the crowds back to it..... it's time.... NOW!

Doesn't make sense.

Or maybe they are just attention whores.
