4th of July

Recommended Posts

I like to "play around" with fireworks.

I live about 30 minutes from the largest Neptune Fireworks store in America, and I go there when they have buy on get one free of anything.

So I stocked up and didnt have to buy anything for about 5 years.

I got thosands of bottle rockets for about $5.

Plus, I found these cool little individual waterproof firecrackers.

These are a ton of fun.

You light one, throw it in a puddle, and it makes a huge splash.

(I'll maybe upload a video if I can get around to filming it)

Yeah, I like to fool around with fireworks, but remember kids

"When you work with explosives... it can be dangerous!"

So, what do you like to do on 4th of July?

I love to "experiment" with fireworks. I LOVE fireworks, and I love to find new ways to shoot them off. However, I can only do this when I travel to places where they are legal. They are illegal here in California, even the safe and sane ones.

In florida, they are for the most part, illegal, except for occasions.

Some are legal, however "If it flies or explodes, it's illegal".

On certain holidays, like July 4th and New Years eve, it's okay, but the law is quite a lenient one.

I like to experiment with fireworks too.

I haven't been injured yet... the worst thats happened was I got hit in the leg with a piece of a firecraker.

What have I done?

Stuff like tying 3 bottle rockets together and launching them at once, putting firecrakers underneath an empty soda can and watch the soda can fly up into the air, and, my favorite:

Find a long, level street, and makesure there are NO other people nearby.

Lay a bottle rocket parallel to the street, light it, and watch it shoot about a hundred feet down the road.

Another fun thing to do with bottle rockets it to find a piece of long pipe (about 3 feet), put a bottle rocket in it, and aim it into the sky.

Those are some of the fun things I've discovered over time.

Whatever you do, be careful, and don't try anything really stupid.

^I like to play with bottle rockets too. I push them down into dirt piles and watch them fly out of them, I throw them in water, I shoot them off backwards, I go into fields and light them off level to the ground. One time (I feel really bad for doing this) I lit a bottle rocket off at a low angle and one of the kids that was with me was standing in front of it, and it fired off and hit him right in the arm!!

I had a bottle rocket in a bottle (interestingly enough) and I decided to hold the bottle. Well my mom said something to me - and I turned to her, lowered the bottle and said "what?" - forgetting about the lit rocket. It went off, hit her in the face, went to the ground and popped. That was it for the bottle rockets that 4th...

I like to, as was said on a classic episode of The Simpsons; "celebrate the birthday of my nation by blowing up a small part of it."

Though all the celebrating this year will be done on Monday the 3rd as one will be able to sleep in on Tuesday since the me and many others have jobs to tend to again on Wednesday morning the 5th.

Good times will be had by all.

Injuries should be minimal.

I think.

I'm going to SFMM!

and later I can get the "Big Boom" I've wanted all year.

I went to a Six Flags park on 4th of July before and it was the worst experience ever. It was at Great Adventure and to say the park was packed is an understatement. EVERYONE in the park was lucky to get on a maximum of 5 rides the entire day. Even the flats had people waiting outside the ques.

Good luck if you do go. Maybe the weather will be less than spectacular and not as many people will go.
