  1. While there may be some truth to that, the underlying point still remains. It really doesn't matter what ate him; a croc, a bunny rabbit, or an ill-tempered shark with a frickin' laser beam on it's head, fences are put in place for a reason. I'm trying real hard to feel some kind of sympathy in this situation, but so far, it escapes me. My only real surprise was that this wasn't some white trash kid in the states.
  2. Sweet! So now the question is, how much of that proposed $120 million will go into it?
  3. I'll take this opportunity to paraphrase Goose from Top Gun. "The defense department regrets to inform you that your son is dead because he was stupid."
  4. At what point does Arthur Fonzarelli start warming up?
  5. Taken from a news report, Feb. 8th, 2007: Just something to consider.
  6. I'm more intersted in Jr. Gemini's top speed. I'm still sporting a black eye from the fight I was in over it this weekend.
  7. Who's killing who here? You set up a poll. It was decidedly obvious what everybody and their brother thought you should do, and yet in the end it's apparent that you probably knew all along what you were gonna end up doing. I'm not sure the opinions of the many well respected posters in this thread would really have mattered to you either way. Maybe I'm wrong, but eh, whatever. Seriously, have a great time in Florida. I honestly wish you well.
  8. Thrillrideseeker, I hope you don't mind if I interject here for a moment, but I'm curious about a couple things. You're still concerned about leaving home, and friends, right? Second, what are your images of Floridians as compared to your local Arkansas "rednecks?" In other words, what are you envisioning your Disney experience to be like? Although working for the mouse as a Disney fan can be very rewarding, I get the sense you're not quite ready to make such a huge life changing jump. As it's been said earlier, there's idiots everywhere. In fact, you may be surprised to know that Central Florida still has quite a few rednecks as well as every other type of person under the sun. Personally, it'd be a no-brainer for me. Take the education first. There's no harm in testing the waters. You may even find you like it more than you thought you would. And yes, there's always the college program that's been mentioned in here. Trust us, WDW isn't going anywhere. It'll still be there for you when you're 100% positive that you're ready to step out and explore what's beyond Arkansas. The scholarship, on the other hand, isn't guaranteed to everyone. Don't pass it up.
  9. Please. It's not an underground nuclear missle silo. It's a freakin' roller coaster. And one that'll be open very shortly. I highly doubt Cedar Point is ready to launch a criminal investigation into this. The only thing they were ever concerned about keeping "top secret" was the announcement of the ride itself. If the videographer was trespassing, fine, that's obviously illegal. But again, something tells me the execs aren't too worried about testing videos getting leaked at this point.
  10. To everyone who hates that group of moronic protestors, there's one tried and true method of defeating them.........IGNORE THEM. If they're affecting anyone, then they're accomplishing their goal (as stupid as it may be).
  11. Agreed. After all the legal problems over the past few years, it's just nice to see them back on track.
  12. ???????????????????? It takes about 3 seconds to actually read the first post in the thread.
  13. Kudos to the parents for taking the bold initiative in what had to be a tough situation to comprehend and deal with at the time. It just goes to prove that there were people who cared, and attempted to reach out in some way.
  14. ^ Understood. I didn't mean to suggest that you were taking that stance. I just know that there will be many that do for one reason or another, and I think it's sad. One thing we should also clarify is that suggesting that no one ever tried to help this kid is just as speculative as guessing the reasons he carried out what he did.
  15. News reports initially reported that about the Columbine kids but they turned out to be pretty popular. All I know is if this turns out to be as melodramatic as your writing was it will probably piss me off. Agreed. I'm not gonna quote that entire novel, but I will say that this was simply a kid with a few screws loose that would never be tightened. I know you were simply speculating, and I respect that, but I'm not buying any of the "loner, and pity party crap for this or any other dirtbag moron who pulls a stunt like this." I find it humorous how some will say he was a loner. He was possibly picked on. He was possibly alienated, etc. etc. It's also been reported that he had terrific parents who are said to be really sweet people. Not exactly the type that dragged this kid to America to mentally torture him. For every nutjob like this, there's literally hundreds of thousands of loners, immigrants, and simple individuals who know where to draw the line. The facts are pretty glaringly simple to me. He was a student at a major university. Cliques exist everywhere, and there's no need to single out the types that would probably never roll out the red carpet to this kid.....we all know who they are. However, with a student body of thousands, and an atmosphere that is worlds apart from high school, if someone is looking to fit in, or reach out for help, God knows, acceptance in some group of his peers shouldn't be that difficult to find. He just didn't want it. The fact is, this kid was hung up on himself. Just like the Columbine kids, and every single copycat to follow them. In an internet world, one-uping the last idiotic stunt has unfortunately become all the rage. Sure, the clock tower and various other public shootings were bound to happen, and they unfortunately did, but now troubled kids who are too stubborn, or lost in their own weird world, find it all too interesting to leave that world as a "somebody." When did standing in front of a train, or jumping off a bridge go out of style? Oh yeah, when 24/7/365 on location instantaneous coverage made selfish jackasses look like "stars" to the unfortunate group waiting in the wings to upstage the latest tragedy. This is truly unfortunate, as will be the inevitable lawsuits from enraged parents over the university's handling of the crisis. I know firsthand what it's like to lose a loved one to an act such as this, and my thoughts and prayers are with all that were affected. Just my 2 cents.
  16. I'm still pretty anxious to hear or see any details on what the queue and station buildings will be like from the inside. If the same folks who worked on IOA are involved, I can only imagine something pretty sweet to rock out to while in line. And let's hope the amps are cranked up to 11.
  17. Well, at least it proved to me that "Rock'n Roll" would've been a better song choice for LZ:TR.
  18. ^ Lack of chick in tight shorts? As always, great pics Ian.
  19. Very nice pics. I wish there was some way I could combine SFOG and SFNE together. Get rid of Ninja, Deja Vu, and GA Cyclone...give me S:ROS, DK, Thunderbolt, and the overall look and feel of SFNE, and I'd have the best Six Flags park around (IMHO).
  20. Well, maybe if it was the Poison:Look What the Cat Dragged In Coaster. I don't remember Zeppelin being very "glam rock."
  21. I agree, being over water is a big plus. I could probably do without the cobra though. I would've rather seen a dive loop or something, but I'm not gonna complain. Also, the color is perfect! The only question I have left is will Paige, Plant, and Jones be riding on Media Day? One can only imagine the lineup of rock stars that could be present.
  22. Yeah, thanks for the heads up, Tommy. I was kinda hoping for the same kind of setup as the new USJ coaster, with the option to select from several different songs. And if it was gonna be one song, I thought "Rock'n Roll" suited it better.....plus they could've let Cadillac sponsor it too. Eh, oh well. It's still cool that the band members worked closely with 'em. And the fact remains that Zeppelin + B&M > Aerosmith + Vekoma.
  23. ^ My prayers have been answered! Already the greatest....coaster.....ever.
