  1. Nice report. I wish these next 11 days or so would go by quicker. I'm pretty anxious to finally get there! Glad you mentioned that because I was gonna ask.
  2. Eh, I say let him enjoy his soon-to-be tainted record. His body will repay him soon enough for the abuse he's "unknowingly" given it over the years.
  3. Enjoy: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18562479/?GT1=9951
  4. I've read so much, I'm starting to get confused. Can someone point out to me where it indicates that you'd actually be hitting the heartline at precisely 70mph? Honestly, the more I stare at the pics, the more innocent it appears. To the naked eye it doesn't seem any more forceful than a B:TR wingover. Obviously I'm not a engineer, but I'm just so intrigued by this. Maybe that high tech dummy ("Frank" is it?) contradicts all logic, and proved it to be a harmful element to human riders. Right now, I'm having a tough time believing it just by looking at it.
  5. Are these the same water dummies that came back with no heads, loss of limbs, or thrown 3 miles from KK's top hat? Scott "I call conspiracy" B.
  6. They've still got a long way to go to catch up to The U. On a positive note, you redeemed yourself a bit with "Bruce Springsteen: The Ride." Great report, man!
  7. You obviously haven't worked on many 20 million dollar projects. --Robb Well, actually, to be fair, the only thing I was guilty of not doing was proofreading my statement before I posted. Scott "calmfully " B.
  8. It's one thing if the delay was due to weather-related issues or bugs concerning new technology, but something really stinks here. While it's true that we don't know who to point the finger at yet, the fact remains that somewhere, there are executives who are pulling their hair out right about now. You don't drop 20+ million into a project, and then calmfully announce just before media day that the opening has been delayed, with a possible huge alteration to the track itself in the works. As said earlier, there are plenty of possible culprits in why this has happened, but regardless of who, where, when, why, and how, tempers have got to be high behind the scenes. Personally, I smell lawsuit over this blunder. It'd be like me contracting you to build me a 3 story house, and then telling me the night before move-in day that the third floor may have to be taken out because of miscalculations on someones behalf. You bet your arse I'd be talking to my lawyer. Scott "hope it's not another lawn ornament during our Coaster Mania visit" B.
  9. As a B&M fan, I believe I'm required to say "eh, leave it to Intamin." Perhaps they should start building any projects slated for '09 immediately. That *should* give 'em enough time to work out the bugs.
  10. Hey, I just got this great stuff from TPR in the mail. It was totally random and unexpected since I never ordered anything! The delievery guy said he thought it was supposed to go to someone in Apt. 2, but there was no name on it, and decided to leave it with me instead. Score!! Anyway, I feel sorry for the sucker in Apt. 2.
  11. I only made it through about 15 or so, and although some were decent shots, I really only needed a few to realize this park still sucks. Scott "just my .02, I could be wrong" B.
  12. With the Queen of England in attendance, was I the only one thinking this? lol
  13. Concerning the track exiting the tunnel......the wild west has never looked so, um, industrial before.
  14. No "angry rhino" trip report from you guys = a loss for us all. And btw, great report Erik.
  15. That's funny you mention it. There were actually two distinct thoughts I had while riding. 1) These kind of chair lifts always make me feel somewhat uneasy. 2) It's really not that high up. It'd be kind of cool to jump from here into the lake. So instead of thinking about anything else, I just kept taking pictures.
  16. Affirmative. And thanks again for the compliments guys.
  17. Nice pics, man. So how were those flume things. I've always wondered about 'em. Did you come off soaked, or what?
  18. If you don't mind me asking, um, why?
  19. Yep, I was impressed that they've spruced it up a bit. It's such a great little park, that I hated to see it look so ghetto from the outside. Yeah, I guess I just managed to find the two lamest cars on the floor that day. I believe it was around 11-3:30ish. I saw your TR, but didn't remember seeing you guys. Glad you liked the place. It really is a great little park for families. For someone who doesn't do well with flats anymore, I talked myself into trying 'em out (risking going home sick). They may be old and seem like a steel cage of death, but they were actually pretty fun. Nothing ground breaking, but fun. Thank you, and thank you. I guess I lucked out then. Are LW's the only ones left?
  20. Since Shannon's employer was offering a free "family day" at Lake Winnie, complete with picnic lunch, we just couldn't resist. Free is always good, and the day turned out great. We arrived around 11 am, ate at one of the three thousand picninc pavilions onsite, and then headed out to the rides. Not much has changed from years past, but the park has a newly paved parking area....well, sort of. Cannonball was running great in it's 40th anniversary year and the Fly-O-Planes were back in service! Ride ops were friendly and effecient, and the place was clean as always. Enjoy the pics. Which looks like this at that particular moment in time when the photo was snapped. And a lap around the park for good measure. Naturally, you have to hit the slide on the way out. Pov of said swings. Wave Swinger. Boat chute. If I'm correct, this is the only one of its kind in America, and is 80 years old this year. Happy birthday Boat Chute. Anyone know why this place is named Lake Winnie? Chair lift over lake. Rib cracker. Lame bumper cars. And one more to drive the point home. Again. Closer view. Fly-O-Planes are back!! Cannon Ball pov. She still runs great! YES!! There was a battle of the bands competition being held there on this day. High school bands from GA and neighboring states made me long for a beer and a football game. Joe's right, kiddie credits are fun for everyone!!! Extreme wacky worm pov for Joe who wasn't actually here this day. Well, besides headless penguins, kiddie credits of course! What makes Joe happy? The high tech ride vehicles. Uninspired "haunted" dark ride name. The effects weren't very special. Very campy, and good for a laugh. Round Up. Pirate ship. The park's new entryway. Derek? Newly paved parking area. Well, except for the spaces themselves. Still, a very welcome improvement. Park Map.
  21. Yes. Disney sounds like a perfect fit for you then. Anyway, I guess I should ask something now huh? Um, are you at work right now?
  22. I'm glad they put Firehawk up so fast. That just gives me one more reason to drive right past this park on the way to Cedar Point in June.
  23. The fact that the Yankees are currently worse than the Devil Rays makes me happy. If only it could stay that way all year.
  24. I don't think that's a very fitting analogy. A better analogy would be "You douse yourself in lighter fluid and light a match, you will burn"
  25. First off, babies don't climb fenced crocodile enclosures. Secondly, a 9 year old should know better, period. And yes, if I were there, it would most certainly be traumatic to some extent. Also, it is a sad event regardless how we all feel. However, when all is said and done, it's just another example of sense not being common afterall. You play with fire, you get burned.
