Odd looking supports
TPDave replied to TTDluv123's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They have to work without failing, but I'm not aware of any universal codes that have to be adhered to. There might be something in the structural eurocodes that could be applicable to coasters that go up in the EU, but I'm not sure I want to spend a day checking! There's TUV, but I'm not sure that covers structural things as much as the systems and mechanics of the ride. Actually on the subject of crazy supports, Dragon's Fury at CWoA has some interesting supports that allow it to navigate Land of the Dragons: http://www.thorpeparkguide.com/archives/dragonsfury/page2/photos/jan04-20.jpg -
AHA!!! You said you weren't! You just need to do more mazes, the sense of accomplishment grows every time you do one We'll take you through Alien Wars at christmas, it'll be a laugh! Dave

^ We had to stretch the truth a *little* bit to get him to go in willingly, at the cost of him never trusting us ever again. Dave "Well worth it!" Wilson

TPDave replied to Divv3k's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I'm sad I missed the random puzzles that you cheated your way through! This was a really nice park, and I really want to go back when they've done the developments that they were talking about. I like how they opened the eurofighter this year, and they're finishing the theming next year (when the existing theming is better than most rides in the UK!). I like the idea of having one really great ride rather than a couple of mediocre ones. Great update Divv, and yes, there were by far enough TPCaptions Dave -
You should e-mail Dan about this problem, he might have some advice for you...

I'm guessing it's from the airport firstly because I think I recognise the shop and secondly because this is the arrival update... -

Tele2 Insane, Intamin ZacSpin for Gröna Lund
TPDave replied to Loefet's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I believe they said the starflyer would be 150m tall which is verging on insanity (especially near open water...) These guys seemed to really like Intamin, so I'd assume that they will try and go with them again if they can compete with whatever B&M/Vekoma are offering. -
I much prefer SCBB, it might even be ahead of Terminator for me. BP was nice, but lacked forces and airtime (it was a little too shaky as well!). Wow. That ride beat the crap out of me! Once was enough and I was in a supposedly "good" seat. I could tell it would be a great ride if it was smooth (which I'm told it used to be) but seemingly a lack of maintenance has made it pretty much unbearable.

IKEA was fun! The pillow I got for 19kr is really good as well We probably should have eaten there too, but I think we just had 6 cans of beer for dinner instead
-
Chuck, for no good reason whatsoever I haven't been keeping up with the updates, so it's been a great read going through all the parks!! Great TR's as always Can't wait for the rest!!

Boulderdash Is Trimmed!
TPDave replied to megamatt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good to hear it hasn't been trimmed... yet! Since there is actually no trimming going on, I'm going to lock this thread as it will just become idle speculation, but please speculate in The Rumor Superthread. Dave -

I'd say they're the best at using EC brakes at the moment. But yes, until client pays them to, they wont build over 239' 6"
