  1. Divv, I know I'm not one to shy away from cameras, but there are a few too many TPPhotos in this TR... Cool report nonetheless, can't wait to relive the awesomeness! I'm waiting for one evening's instalment in articular (and it had better include video!!) Dave
  2. ^ It's also worth remembering that they don't have a ton of free time to spend in chat, running TPR, working other jobs and raising a family takes a crapload of work Dave
  3. Yeah, it does seem more of a psychological precaution! Nice report so far Martin, I enjoyed the little history/politics lesson too. Dave
  4. ^ Ha! I'm sure many people will find that a useful feature! That's great to hear, they look pretty cool, I can't wait to try them out at some point Dave
  5. Wow. I can't tell you how jealous I am of the Brit Crew going out there in a month! This thing looks awesome. I never realised it would be that long, it looks like an epic compact coaster. To anyone who has ridden it, how were the trains? Dave
  6. ^ That's surprising. Legoland parks are amongst my favourites, I've been to thee of them now and I always have a good time. I'd be interested to see what you think after a second visit Dave
  7. Awesome report Elissa! I loved this park when I visited in '09 and it looks like it's just got better. Dave
  8. I'm at university in Bristol and I love having Banksy's stuff around. I walk past one every day I go to lectures, and you see loads when walking around the city. I think it gives the city personality and something a bit different. The work that he does usually looks better than the dirty walls that it replaces. I would say he has a cause, his work is almost entirely politically liberal and anti-corperation. Dave
  9. I'm loving the TR Joey, awesome stuff!! Dave
  10. ^ Nice! I doubt this will be as good as Hershey Park's effort, but fun nonetheless! I'm going to open the batting and say the the obscured word is "Un"...
  11. ^ Ha! I really should have started doing this years ago when I hadn't ridden so much. It's such a massive challenge to do from scratch now that I've been on a fair few coasters!! Maybe if I have a free day at some point I'll sort myself out Dave
  12. Great stuff as always Chuck! I'm suitably jealous of you lot! Dave
  13. I really want to go back to this place! The attention to detail and general uniqueness of the park are amazing. That theming looks brilliant, I can't wait to see the finished product. Dave
  14. OMG!! That's amazing I hope everyone realises what an absolutely HUGE deal this is!! I just did some maths, and if you buy an annual pass with the Club TPR discount you will save MORE than it costs to join Club TPR (and you'll still have $15 credit and all the other perks!). That's just the basic pass, if you get the premium pass you end up with a really healthy profit! And the single day tickets have an even larger percentage discount, this is insane! So basically if you're planning on going to a few Merlin parks this year (and let's face it, if you live in the UK/western Europe you should be!) then you save money by joining Club TPR and still have loads of great benefits! Thanks for sorting this out Robb! Dave
  15. Ha! Awesome Can't wait to get mine!! Dave
  16. I once puked up in someone's suitcase while staying at a park hotel. Oh wait, that wasn't me... Dave
  17. What on earth are you talking about? Dave
  18. I'm loving this report! 1:28 in that video was great Dave
  19. ^^ I think one of Robb's captions in the update alluded to that Looks like you're having a great time guys, I can't wait for the day when I can do a TPR cruise!! Dave
  20. I'm having flashbacks of that Fantasy Land report!! Nice TR, I sadistically enjoyed your efforts to actually make something of the day! Dave
  21. ^ I'm not really sure where a long coaster (that is any good) would go in the UK. At Thorpe, they keep having to reclaim land to build new things, hence the recent small footprints, Chessington has large green belt issues (and the wrong audience for a big coaster), same story at Legoland. We all know the problems Alton Towers have the second they try to push the envelope. My ultimate argument against people simply wanting "long" coasters in the UK is that the two longest coasters we have at the moment are The Ultimate and the Big One. Enough said. Dave
  22. The island has been made in the lake specifically for this project. I love the idea of loads of islands with rides on them in the future Dave
  23. ^ It's the third in the B&M and Merlin deal. The other two being Gardaland's Raptor and Heide Park's Krake. Dave
  24. Thorpe Park to get wing rider coaster in 2012 Planning permission has just gone live and the plans for Thorpe Park's 2012 coaster have been revealed! The theme appears to be a post apocalyptic fly through a crash site or something. Think of Reset at Mirabilandia, but a coaster going through the wreckage rather than a shooting dark ride. Here is some text taken from the planning application: "The proposed ride and associated theming has been designed to provide a flythrough experience through a crash scene. The buildings will be themed with a derelict appearance and the theming objects include a crashed aeroplane and helicopter. These theming elements will be scattered across the coaster site. The theming is vital to the success of the ride and to enhance the unique ride offer at the Park." On to the plans! Plan of the track and supporting structures Outline of the new island the ride will sit on Coaster outline on the new island New island in relation to the rest of the park Side elevation Station plans More toilets!! Elevations Elevations Queue line plan and styles Photo, Retail and F&B units Crashed plane theming Helicopter, firetruck and other theming Bridge connecting the island
