  1. Nice to see it all confirmed, the world needs more of these rides!!
  2. Wow! This is awesome, in 2 days all the members of Team TPR have raised and given almost $3200!! Congrats guys, I need to figure out who I'm going to donate to! Imagine how much you guys can raise by June 10th! Dave
  3. I had genuinely forgotten all about the umbrella. for those of you who don't know, you're in for a treat! Loving it Divv, I liked the Hakata hotel with the massive TV on the outside. Dave
  4. Woo! Can't wait for this TR Divv, memories have already started flooding back!! Dave
  5. No offence taken at all, this is a discussion forum. Different opinions are kind of the point I think you hit the nail on the head there, "If their lifestyle allows it". I'm not sure how large the market is for a car with ~100 miles range and an 8 hour charge cycle. On the hydrogen point, firstly I think Honda do actually have a hydrogen car for sale in the Californian market (it's the only one worldwide that can support it currently!) but the issue isn't making a car that can run on hydrogen, they've been doing that for years and can do it at a decent price. The issue is getting the hydrogen and then storing, transporting and getting it into the vehicle at the other end. Not to get too bogged down in chemistry, but essentially it takes more energy to obtain h2 than it releases in the cell. This means you need a "green" power station to get the hydrogen and then there has to be a mass rollout of hydrogen delivery pumps in gas stations. Certainly not in the next decade or two, but I don't think it's impossible.
  6. But they don't compete in the same market as IC cars. By the time they get battery technology to the point where they can make a fully electric car that has a range of 300 miles, can charge in two hours (without using a "quick charge" cycle that destroys the batteries in 5-7 years), and isn't weighed down by a vast array of rechargeables, hydrogen fuel cells will be able to produce a car that fits in with how we use cars today far more effectively. People want a car that they can refuel in minutes and will last for more than 100 miles. Fully electric vehicles simply can't do this and I don't foresee them doing this in the next 20 years. This all ignores the fact that there's an incredibly high chance that the energy source you use to charge your electric car is likely not very environmentally friendly so it's hardly a fully ecological choice.
  7. ^^^ Nice! Keeping most of the classic style with an aggressive headlight line and a few other twists, LIKE!
  8. Of course I got a stick, no point getting an auto! Yeah the mileage is really low. I'll probably but about 18k a year on it. Pretty impressed with the find, now it's off to see what I can do about Bluetooth, this should be cheap :/
  9. After a few months of searching around, I've finally got a new TPCar. 1 Owner since new, 8 years old, 43000 miles and a crapload of extras. I can't wait to get insurance sorted on monday! 1.6 litres of motoring fun! Panoramic sunroof Sorry about the glare. Nice leather steering wheel and half leather sports seats.
  10. This reminds me a lot of the Premier spaghetti bowl launch coasters. Looks like it could be a laugh. The best bit is you won't have to go to Fuji-Q to ride a launched Eurofighter! Dave
  11. Nice! The theming is the most interesting bit of this ride for me, glad to see it's moving along nicely! Dave
  12. I didn't see this when it was first announced! What an awesome location for a family coaster
  13. ^ As I remember there was a "hospital worker" sitting at a desk with a basket on it that you put the torch into. I actually really liked the use of the torch, it gave the actors a heads up as to where you were in the first half. Far from making you feel secure, it made you more of a target! The attraction was good, but it had been so horrendous overhyped (possibly by people who wanted to say they'd done the "best in the world" knowing that few others would be able to verify!) that it could never fully deliver. I'm glad I did it but I found the room of the living dolls an order of magnitude better. That's how to do a haunt attraction!
  14. Is KD getting the same line pass system that KI got this year? That might be worth looking into.
  15. ^ I'll find other ways! Hopefully this will increase the pickup of Q-Bots in other park chains. I know Merlin has been using them at Legoland Windsor for a while but as far as I'm aware it hasn't trickled through to their other UK properties, shame.
  16. Nice! I would love to have one of these at a park! I could leave my wallet at the hotel and have one less thing to lose. Basically you get a rugged RFID device to pay for things and reduce your waiting time, what I great idea! I wonder if they can get this to market before loads of people have RFID phones that can achieve the same effect? Dave
  17. Thats good to hear! I'm sure he'll lead the design team well! Now, if only we could get more Sally rides in the UK...
  18. ^^ Keep it calm guys, I know he misinterpreted your post but there's no need to get bitchy about it.
  19. Great update! I'm so glad this is back, this needs to get sponsored back to life every christmas! Dave
  20. ^ Waterworld has a huge plot of land that would be easy to develop while keeping the park open, so that's where my vote goes. I assume they'll only want to build this land once (rather than do a USF and extend it later) so I assume this will be pretty huge!
  21. Wow, this thing is proving harder to ditch than they thought! It'll be interesting to see what their next move is. I doubt they'll want to invest in it but they could shoot themselves in the foot by making it less profitable if they don't...
  22. I haven't been to IoA since the Potter overhaul so I'm probably not the best person to comment, but I just don't like the idea of having another Potter area in the other park. No matter how they interconnect the areas and make a lovely story, I just can't see it as anything more than a money grabbing attempt to stretch out the franchise even more. Dave
  23. It would be a shame to see that track go. It was a very quirky little fanboy feature about the ride and the park that I liked a lot.
  24. Aah yes, I forgot about the whole Six Flags late opening thing! I like the theming (and hand/foot/head choppers) on Thorpe's one but I'm excited to see this too Dave
  25. Interesting that they are getting the track a lot later than Dollywood, maybe they paid more or something Can't wait to see this one go up, I want to see how the "THORPE PARK" inversion looks on the other side of the pond! Dave
