Harry Potter is a tween phenom. Like it or not, you have to accept the audience. It's like saying Twilight is an intellectual art film. It just isn't. From a marketing site I also frequent:
"The core demographic of Harry Potter are kids between 7-16."
This is their bread and butter. That's where the money is, and the biggest reason Daniel Radcliffe is the richest kid in Britain. I'm not bashing anyone who likes Harry Potter who is older than it's target market, but you have to realize where the true popularity lies. Every halloween I see a bunch of kids dressed as Harry Potter characters. The market is still strong, and that's why this was such a good move for Universal. Even though the popularity of the movies are waning, the books are still a great way for parents to get their kids to read when they otherwise would only watch television and play video games.

Anything that is fantasy involving kid protagonists is a "kids" movie. Just because the actors are now older doesn't mean kids don't still relate. I agree that the newer films are reaching a broader audience, but I enjoy Spongebob Squarepants shows from time to time. It doesn't mean that Spongebob isn't geared towards kids, it just means that when done right you can reach a wider audience, like Shrek... Personally, I never got into the Harry Potter thing, but this new area looks pretty unique to any other theme park area, which I'm excited about.

^ Well, when they did it with the ACE members, you could get your family in, etc. As long as it's only a couple people, I don't think the PR department at the park will put up much of a fuss. They want to keep people happy. If you try and get a busload of people in with your card, you might have a problem...

^ The agency in charge of amusement rides differs by state. In Ohio, it's under the Department of Agriculture, for example...

I'll be hanging around DCA quite a but waiting for Ariel to open!
Just sounds a little creepy

^ Just adapt SoB for King Kobra's trains. If you're going to injure people, why not make it an artform...?

^allegedly of course. Each year it sits it gets less likely it will ever reopen. Everytime this has happened to a coaster, where it's sat dormant for a while, it doesn't bode well for its future. Just my couple pennies...

Dear Kings Island:
CUT YOUR LOSSES!!!! Seriously, just move on. SoB doesn't love you, she's only out to hurt people. Move on with your life and find something new. There's that hot little Predator down the way. Gravity Group has a bunch of little pretty ladies just waiting for a good park, and they're right here in town. It's time to play the field. Let it go!

^ So you've been on Tatsu? I just think once you've ridden one of the newer B&M Flyers, the old Vekoma's seem archaic and rough.

John Peck said, "as guest favorites still remain to be the Beast, Vortex and now Diamondback." I would also add Flight Of Fear and Firehawk to that list. Those rides always have huge lines on them too. FOF I love and understand the reason for it's popularity, but Firehawk...I just don't get the love people have for that thing.
Firehawk doesn't usually have a huge line, but the capacity is so low and the cycling times are so bad that it has huge waits. Huge waits and huge lines are different things. A lot of people who don't know better seem to enjoy Firehawk. I am not one of them.

I approve. It's nice to see Woodstock Express being made of wood for a change... And I like the idea behind The Great Pumpkin Coaster. Cute. I'm actually liking the transformation more than I thought I would.

This is to settle an argument... I think it's a great boys name, but my fiance thinks it sounds like a girls name.
-
Hey, so I was wondering, without looking it up, do you think the name "Luca" sounds like a boys name or a girls name? Thanks in advance

^ Or what they evolved into as GG: Voyage, Hades, etc.

^ Why is there a petition? What's the point? The park was dying, lets force it to open up and lose even more money? We have no right or claim to the park or the rides, only the owners and/or creditors do. One more thing: Pave Magic Mountain....

I don't want it to succeed because I don't want any chance that SoB could be given a new lease on life. It just needs to be torn down...

No matter what Six Flags might feel, it's definitely steel...

Didn't Indiana Beach move to a similar system last season? I seem to remember having to scan my wristband at every ride when I went last summer.
