  1. Does running 2 trains vs. 1 train on Skyrush make a significant difference? I made my first visit earlier this year and they were only running one train, so I didn't have to deal with sitting on the brake run waiting for the next dispatch. Totally agree that once you figure out how to ride Skyrush, it's an amazing experience. My approach is to grab a left wing seat and lean outward to the left during the ride. As you pass through the Stengel dives and some of the right-hand turns, it feels like you're getting ripped in half
  2. For what it's worth, today I managed 5 rides on Steel Vengeance without getting a single access pass: 4 straight rides between 11 and noon, and one more in the evening (entered the line around 7:10). This did involve sacrificing the morning wave of access passes for the other rides, but I was able to get on TTD, Maverick, and Millennium once each using the afternoon passes. I'd probably still recommend both waves of access passes if it's your first/only visit of the year, but you can definitely lap one specific ride in the morning if that's your preference.
  3. A night ride on Orion last Friday. Wasn't until after the fireworks show, but it was definitely worth the wait.
  4. ^ I believe it is like Kings Island. During my visit a few weeks ago, the last time they were giving out for Millie was 6-7. Steel Vengeance was closed most of the day when I visited, but they did get it open shortly after 7. By the time I reached the entrance (around 7:20), they had closed off the line, but I showed them the receipt for my locker and they let me in as the very last rider in the standby line.
  5. Sweet - glad it worked out! I've heard night rides on MT are just as good as Beast, if not better.
  6. ^ I will say that a back row night ride on Orion is quite enjoyable. If you time things right, you might be able to swing both Orion and Mystic. Orion's line was pretty consistently ~45 minutes all day, and Mystic Timbers was even longer. Assuming it's more crowded tomorrow - with sunset around 8:40 pm, you could potentially enter Orion's queue around 8 and get on around 9, then head over to Mystic Timbers? Hard to guess how much more people will attend tomorrow, though...
  7. Great view of the fireworks show from Orion’s station
  8. I was at the park today as well - they actually did get Steel Vengeance open shortly after 7 pm. By the time I had reached the entrance (around 7:20), they had it closed off, but I showed them the receipt for my locker and they were happy to let me enter as the very last rider in the standby line. Major kudos to the staff - that was really nice of them Good luck tomorrow - hopefully everything stays open!
  9. I couldn't find any better alternatives, so I went with the BOGO deal. Now I am sitting on the second ticket which expires at the end of September. Not sure if I'll end up using it or not.
  10. ^ I liked Candymonium! Not quite as good as Diamondback in my opinion (only other B&M hyper I've experienced), but still a very solid ride. The first camelback and speed hill deliver solid airtime, and the element coming out of the helix also provides some decent laterals. There are a couple trims that dampen things slightly but it's a good ride overall and a great complement to Skyrush. They were running 3 trains the day I visited and dispatches were very quick, so it's quite easy to marathon if you visit on a weekday.
  11. I noticed the cars for the red train (covered) down below the final turnaround, same as where the extra train can be seen on Google Maps. This was my first visit to DP; is this where it's normally located? Based on my first visit - I would rank the coasters as follows: 1. Steel Force - really enjoyed this one, especially up front! The turnaround is pretty forceful and the airtime hills definitely deliver for me. 2. Talon - very solid invert, which actually ended up being #100 for me. I had planned on Steel Force being #100, but it didn't open up until around noon, so I went with Talon instead 3. Possessed - didn't get to ride yesterday but rode this a ton at Geauga Lake, so nostalgia is definitely an influence 4. Hydra - Definitely appreciate the jojo roll and unique layout, but it's pretty shaky, even up front 5. Thunderhawk - quite forgettable, the braking on the final bunny hills really killed the ride 6. Wild Mouse
  12. ^ Nice report. I was at DP on Thursday and my experience was quite similar, although Talon only had a small wait early in the day. After around 2:30 pm, it was a walk on, with slightly longer wait times for Steel Force later in the afternoon. It was nice to see all major coasters running 2 trains even though the place was a ghost town. Hot take: Steel Force is inherently re-rideable, I may even prefer it over Magnum...
  13. ^ I was at the park on Monday, and someone informed me that they were waiting for clearance from the state and were hoping to have it open later this week. I didn’t see any activity in the station all day, though. But that’s what I was told.
  14. I was at the park on the 15th (also a Wednesday) and was able to get 5 rides on Orion without FL. They will start letting people into the parking lot as early as 10:15, and once you're parked, through the temperature check, and into the park, you can head straight to Orion. They will typically start letting riders on around 10:30 and will start giving out access passes when the park actually opens at 11. I was able to get 3 rides via the standby line before 11, then grabbed an access pass and headed over to Beast and then Banshee, which were both walk-ons. The park was not very crowded the Wednesday I visited, so they did not run out of access passes until later in the afternoon (around 5 or 5:30 if I recall).
  15. I am definitely in the same boat. I only have 4 rides on it so far, but it has continued to underwhelm me. It may be because I've never been in the very front or very back (all of my requests for row 12 this year have been denied), but to me the airtime feels weaker than, say, what I experienced on Lightning Run or Storm Chaser at KK last week. Don't get me wrong, it's still a real solid ride with a great duration and cool headchopper moments, but my front row rides on Maverick and Millennium today were more satisfying IMO. On the bright side - I also had a much better today than last Friday. Got on all coasters except the Mine Ride. TTD opening might complicate things a bit, but for now, you can definitely knock out everything in one day provided the weather cooperates and you have a decent strategy before getting to the park.
  16. ^ I was at the park on Friday, and the opening sequence was slightly different from what I experienced at Kings Island a few days prior. My reservation for Cedar Point was for 10:00. I arrived at the park right at 9 AM and was allowed to enter the parking lot without issue. The lady at the parking booth informed me to wait in my car until 10 minutes before my reservation time. There is a large tent area you will have to pass through to take the temperature check before heading to the front entrance. Once parked, I waited in my car for a little while, but I noticed some people walking over to the tent as early as 9:15 AM, so I decided to head that way as well. The staff there had no problem allowing me to enter the tent area where I was one of the first few guests in line for the temperature check. They started the checks around 9:45 and opened the front gates right at 10:00. I headed straight for Steel Vengeance at this point, which was not opened until 11:00. I'm guessing the other rides weren't opened until 11 as well. There was a staff member at the access pass booth for SV when I initially got to the ride shortly after 10, but I simply entered the general line first thing and did not get an access pass until finishing my first ride shortly after 11 (probably should have asked for one at first passing, in hindsight).
  17. Was at the park today, all coasters were running. Most wait times were less than 15 minutes, even with every other row being used. Would be interesting to see how a mask requirement changes things, as I saw maybe 5% of guests wearing them today.
  18. I was at the park a few weekends ago (on a Saturday), and they were running 2 trains on both Voyage and Thunderbird. Just one train on Raven/Legend. I can also attest to the park running the virtual lines about as well as one could really ask for. Towards the end of the day, as the crowd died down, most of the staff were letting people enter the rides even before the timer on the ride reservations was fully elapsed, which was pretty cool.
  19. I believe it is, based on this post I saw on Reddit from Friday. Also no mention of Storm Chaser on the park's ride closure page: https://www.kentuckykingdom.com/today I'll be at the park later this week, so hoping everything is open as well.
  20. ^Reservations are required for the first week (i.e. through 7/3), and you can find the link by scrolling down a bit on their main page. Not sure if anything is required after the 3rd, though...
  21. Looks like the reservation system for passholders is now live. I was able to reserve a spot for 7/10 without issue. https://www.cedarpoint.com/welcoming-you-back Edit: Sorry Mike, did not see that you had already mentioned this!
  22. Dark Chocolate. One space after a period, or two spaces?
  23. ^ Kings Island is now allowing people to process season passes entirely online, I'm guessing Dorney Park has the same option.
  24. Kings Island will be open to passholders from July 2-11, and will open to the public on July 12. There will be a reservation system and masks will be required. More details can be found here: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/park-update
  25. Cedar Point will open on July 9th, just for passholders. There will be a reservation system and masks will be required. Source: https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2020/06/cedar-point-will-open-july-9-kings-island-on-july-2.html
