Best ending would have to be Oblivion. I mean, that vertical drop right before the brakes! Wow! (That was a lie; I have never been on Oblivion.)
Worst ending would have to be a tie between The Village and Rockin Roller Coaster. Both left me expecting a little more. You get to the concert? With all that driving, I'd at least like to get somewhere cool; I'm pretty sure we at least took a wrong turn at Albequerque.

Is it just me, or does that train seem ridiculously long? 32 people in one train with 2 accross seating? Maybe that's normal, but it looks long to me.

After Holiwood Nights, we were exhausted so we slept in the morning after before making the trip down to Beech Bend for Rumblefest. There was quite a turn out for the park's first event (480 people when they expected 200.) Despite the crowds, none of the waits were horrible and there was enough food. (I got food at least.)
It was a nice smaller park, and like many small parks, had some cool flat rides. The SCAT 2 was probably the most intense spinning ride I've ever been on. It's the cheapest alternative to a face lift.
The reason I was there, the Kentucky Rumbler, was a surprisingly good coaster. The ride is in a different league as the Voyage. It has really comfy trains and rides very smooth. Despite that, it is still fairly intense and delivers a hearty amount of airtime. Unlike most woodies, however, the ride is by far the best in the front of the train.
The coolest part of the event was that the guys from GCII were ther operating the ride. My mom asked them a ton of questions while I just listened to their answers. It was really great to hear about their rides from them directly. They also brought along headlights for the ride which although they didn't light up a ton, created a cool effect. As they were designed to do, the headlights light up a small section of track in front of the train and make you focus on a point much closer than you normally would making the ride seem faster and more intense.
At the beginning of ERT, they also ran the mouse and Looping Star. I really hope there wasn't a line at the Looping Star; there was one at the mouse.
Later the sun went down, the GCI guys came out, and ERT began.
You can even ride the cock. Behind the cock, is one of the most confusing dark rides I've been on.
You can also ride in this mouse. If you're unbalanced enough, it even spins (very fast).
They even have a scenic sky tower. This drop ride inches up and provides a cool view of the raceway. It also drops.
They also have a portable log ride. People always look goofy when they don't want to get wet.
They also have Scat 2, most insane spinning ride. It's just cruel, but fun to watch.
After the Rumbler, we rode a few of the flat rides like this mix between tea cups and swings. There is never a lock on spinning so you can start spinning the second you sit down.
Mmm...signature GCI beauty.
Even though it has one train, the wait never seems bad because the train is always hurdling past the station during the ride giving you something to watch from the station.
Next up was the Rumbler and a chance to take the photo everybody has.
The next credit, something you also don't ride for fun. Unless you love pain.
Add an influx of enthusiests and you have a line made up of credit whores. They're definetely not riding it for the thrill.
Unlike many rides of this nature, there is no maximum height.
The first ride we rode when we got there was this beast.

This weekend Holiday World held a little event called Holiwood Nights. Since I had heard how amazing their woodies are at night and I had been aching to take a spin on the Voyage, I convinced my mom and neighbor to join me on the 16-hour trek out there.
While it was tiring just getting there, from my first ride, I knew it was worth it. I first engaged in the blasphemy that is stopping at Raven and Legend before the Voyage, but I didn't see much point in walking right past them.
As far as the ERT went, the lines were much shorter than I expected with my average waits being 20-30 mins for Voyage, and 1-2 train waits for Raven and Legend. As far as the rides went, Voyage is a great ride that really comes into its own during night rides. With the only light on it being one on the brake run, much of the ride is in pitch black. The brakes under that light seemed to only be there for show during ERT as the train didn't even slow down through them. All of this made it one of the most intense rides I've ever been on.
Raven and Legend were both running great for ERT as well. The Legend seemed dull during the day but became very intense at night. It was the only ride where by the end of it, no riders still had their hands up. On Saturday night, we got about 5 straight rides taking up the second to back car of Raven.
By the end of the two nights, however, I was spent. I lost my contacts Saturday night due to allergies. I had bruises on my legs from Voyage's lapbars. I was sunburned from the morning water park ERT. I was exhausted.
On to the photos!
After one long drive, two days of intense sun, two nights of intense rides, and an added bonus of allergies, I was exhausted. Nonetheless, I had a ton of fun.
The Raven still delivers at night and had short lines, a great combo.
Best night ride I've ever been on.
Soon, the sun set over Santa Claus and another night of insane ERT began.
While it probably wasn't a great choice late in the day, the rapids ride is a great break from the coasters.
The most interesting thing about this photo is that the people in the second row have their Nights name tags on. They got the best view of the photo walk back.
Sometimes, I also found what was behind us more interesting than the Voyage. I bet no one else has this shot.
I found it more amusing to take picture of the other people taking pictures, because a good deal of the shots of Voyage will look identical.
Most of the obvious good picture places had at least ten people with cameras pointing at the track.
During the walkback, they had orange lines painted on the ground to keep us safe.
It just does that up and down really fast.
Like many roller coasters, the Voyage goes up then down.
It would have been quite interesting to see the army of cameras from the Voyage.
If you're tired of pictures of the Voyage, skip a little bit.
Whenever a train came near, everybody would stop in unison and point their cameras toward the skies.
The Voyage towered over all of us.
By that time, it was time for our exclusive walk back. As you can see, not many people showed up.
We did head back to an operating Voyage. I bet you haven't seen this picture before.
It is also home to a credit. Unlike the Voyage, they let you go around twice. (I'm not sure I'd survive going around Voyage twice in a row.)
It is home to the world's greatest see-saws.
We decided to take a voyage to Holidog's Fun Town instead.
As we walked out, Voyage was temporarily broken down, which was a common sight. On Friday, I sat on the brakes for 10 minutes. At least they were nice enough to send someone to let us know what was up.
In the hunt for more food, we headed to Gobbler Getaway, which is a really fun ride if you're competative. My top score is 1930, anyone beat that?
I thought these looked more tasty. #3 on the list of threats to diabetics. Right behind the oversized Pixie Stick and 40 oz. bottle of Insulin.
Apparently they make their own fudge or something.
The next day, I didn't bring my camera to the waterpark, but luckily I did have it when we stopped by the fudge shop. I told them to look like fudge.
After Raven, we headed to get some food. Unlike I had feared, there was no line for food. There was, however, a large line for fudge.
We opted out of following the crowd to the Voyage and rode the Raven first. Once it got dark we did end up on Voyage, though.
Once ERT started we walked past the Holloswings. Too bad they weren't up for ERT.
We then headed to the picnic grove where I got this exclusive shot of the Voyage including hot volleyball net action.
We ended Friday off with a ride on the Spider which like most Spider rides was not a short ordeal. It was still fun, however.
Once we had ridden all the coasters, we started in on the flat rides like this S&S that knows what country it's from. (Voyage photos omitted untill later.)
After the Raven, we hit the Legend which was sort of a let down, at that time at least.
It wasn't.
The next day we arrived at Holiday World. It looked pretty crowded.
After that, we started in on our long drive through beautiful Kansas scenery.
We started the trip off with a stop at McDonald's (the first of many stops at one). There I got out of the car to take this picture of flowers my mom liked.

The "sidewindin" sign makes me think Cedar Point is going to break the inversion record with a lot of zero-g rolls... making this more of a flat ride than a coaster.

The park looks a lot nicer this year, which only really set in as I looked back at the pictures. I'm starting to like this "Under New Management" Six Flags.

I'll be making the 16-hour drive out there for both Holiwood Nights and Rumblefest. I don't own any TPR shit other than the movies, but I guess I'll say hi to whoever I see in TPR attire. There probably won't be an easy way to spot me other than I'll probably be the only guy wearing a shirt from http://www.threadless.com.

After having the luxury of taking finals this morning, I decided to hop along with my Aunt and check out SFEG for the afternoon. We got to the park and noticed the parking lot was almost empty except for quite a few busses. The only ticket window that was open was Custumer Service, so it was looking good already. It turned out that there were lots of people in the park but almost none of them seemed to be riding rides. No coaster was more than a two train wait. They even closed all the rides that left the ground due to a nearby thunderstorm for 30 minutes, leaving the only ride open to be the teacups. They were still a walk on, unlike every food stand or game at the time. Now my little cousin was scared of most of the rides so we just went on a few. I took a break from them for a ride on Twister II and to give Mind Eraser a shot. Mind Eraser is still working on making every part of my body hurt and Twister II, while slightly smoother, is now completely neutered by its new trim break. Anywho, on to some pictures.
Too discouraged after my defeat, I didn't really take many more pictures, so I'll leave you with something for Derek.
Yeah, I got killed, just like in those video games. (My live screen name is MaryMooCow if you ever want someone to pwn.)
After that, we went to go play Whack-a-Mole. I figured all my night of playing video games had to give me an edge...
It was right under Sidewinder, and the chance for more of an up-skirt shot for Derek.
Right next to it, however, I found what I was looking for. Flowers and coaster supports in one shot, OMG!
Their sign for Spider ain't got nothing on Lakeside's.
I then caught up with my Aunt and cousin for a ride on the Spider. (That's them getting off, which is a very long process on the Spider.)
I did, however, take a ride on Bob Barker's Twister II. (Nerdy Caption: Robb's lap bar release also found on the Voyage)
I then waltzed to the back of the park where my injured mid-body-section...area...place told me to skip on this.
Seeing flowers put me in a good mood, so I got in "line" for this. As Gob Bluth would say, "I've made a huge mistake."
I left them to go find more flowers, but all I saw was this big ferris wheel. Boo!
But the real attraction was these pretty flowers.
My little cousin was really scared at first so the first place we stopped was this little train.
Some hot tower action. Mmm...tall.

As much fun as that sounds, it really doesn't seem like a great idea. Six Flags must be doing horrible to have to go after the Roller Coaster/Drug Addict crowd.
Anyway, nice TR. I'll always remember SFA as the only major park that has closed early on me.

As a response to one of the dorky coaster photos, if I'm thinking of the same lap bar release on PTC trains, PTC has been putting them on for at least a couple of years. Twister II at SFEG has them on it's trains it got a few years ago. The photo below (from today) shows that release.

Thanks for the comments. As you all said, Lakeside does have that reputation of being the "bad" park and that's why I never visited it. I had always thought, "Why bother?" After going there, however, I realized how wrong that really was. Sure it is in a worse part of town, it's cheaper and less structured, but the rides and the atmosphere are so much better. I'll definetely be headed back there sometime soon.

Do the woodies at Indiana Beach count? They didn't have space so they just built them right on top of everything that was already there. So, in a sense, they do save space...

Living in Denver for 5 years and watching my coaster count skyrocket from under 30 in that time, I had never been to Lakeside despite being so close and hearing such great things about it. Last Friday night, I finally decided to head down there, after all it was only $12.25 for an unlimited ride wristband. Now, none of you probably read this and it was the photos that brought you in here so here they come.
It came out backwards so read from the bottom up. Sorry, I'll fix it on my next Photo TR. EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot.
Lakeside truely is a great little park, and if you're ever in Denver, don't miss it.
Unlike other versions of the ride, it actually gave airtime if you got the up and down timing right.
It was one ride that looked really cool at night.
It's right out next to the lake.
Right next to it was the Satellite.
The Rock-o-Plane was a pretty fun ride as well.
Some of the cars were fairly slow, while others were fast, making the number 13 car a very fun car to drive.
They even had some good bumper cars, with a cool sign, of course.
Next to the Roll-o-Plane was the World's Most Exciting Ride!
They had a Roll-o-Plane, which has to be one of the most insane flat rides, ever.
Like pretty much all the rides, the Spider had a cool sign.
After eating, we checked out some of the many flat rides. (Take note Six Flags)
They made it fairly fast, but that was probably because they forgot the crust.
Once we ordered our pizza, they had to make it. Meanwhile, this guy taunted us with what we could not have.
After seeing that, we were stangely compelled to eat. It was definetely not a $12 slice of pizza. (More like $1.75)
Under the sign, SUPER swirls.
Little did I know this ride has SUPER thrills.
The third "coaster" is this double-helix of a beast.
The other larger coaster is the Wild Chipmunk which is like a backyard version of a wild mouse and 10x as fun.
Later at night.
It has a really cool station that looks amazing at night.
The Cyclone was the real reason I went.
When you arrive at Lakeside, your greeted by this beautiful tower.

I've only ever had a contact fall out once. Strangely, it was on Superman: Ultimate Flight at SFGAm. Ever other coaster I've been on has been fine on the contacts, even when they make the tears roll down my cheek. I've never been on TTD or KK, though.

1. Check the official site for special events. The only one that really matters is the Denver Grand Prix (not sure when it is though), not because it attracts more of a crowd, but because it's just cool to watch from SFEG. The track is set up right next door.
2. There's really not much difference in wait times, but Half Pipe usally gets a longer wait. Tower of Doom is really the only other line to worry about. Other than those two, the lines will be fairly similar. Sidewinder, however, is the "do not miss" coaster at SFEG.
3. No. It's not hard to do SFEG in a day, plus not many of the rides will have you dying for rerides.
4. Batwing always struck me as boring, but it's worth a ride if you have time. The flat rides you want to hit are 1) the tea cups which are always fun, 2) if it counts as a flat ride, Tower of Doom, and 3) Rainbow which, although not running a great program, can still be fun.
5. The food isn't great in the park, so if you've got time, hop on the light rail over to Union Station and check out the restaurants either toward downtown or right accross the Platte River. SFEG gives handstamps, but I don't think has an option like that for cars, so you might as well take the light rail (located over a pedestrian bridge, by the Pepsi Center).
6. From my experience, the Sky Tower is open sporadically. The only days it is guaranteed to be open are the days of the Grand Prix. Other than that, there's not much telling if it will be open.
7. It has never been intolerably crowded in the summer when I've been there. The crowd shouldn't prevent you from doing what SFEG has to offer in a day.
Hope that helps. Oh, and if you have some extra time, Lakeside is a very short drive away.

- Cedar Point because it's been more than a year.
- Fantazy Land because 1 rotting coaster just isn't enough anymore.
- Paramount's King's Island to succeed in it's war on trees by building Grandson of Beast, who, due to being fed better, is 10x the size of the origional.
- Neighbor James who spilled all over coffe table last New Year's.

I have to say Kumba. It has that relentless feel to it that makes for one hell of a ride, every ride. Also up high on the intensity would be B:TR (never noticed a diference on any of the ones I've ridden) and Deuling Dragons.
Riddler's, for me, doesn't do much. It was cool the first time a few years ago, but getting off it last time I really didn't feel anything compeling me to go back. It felt more like a catologue of inversions than the rush that Batman provides.

Just for a little bit of input, I've had the same problem with the DVD's playing in computers. It will play the first time but stops after a couple seconds. The DVDs will then not play until ejected and reinserted into the drive. My discs, however, work fine in normal DVD players. Seeing as there's no shortage of DVD players in my house, I'm perfectly fine with my DVDs, but I just figured I'd pass on what happens because it may be part of a very widespread problem.

I have yet to get on Hades, but that looks to be one insane tunnel. The short tunnels they use to extend drops have never done much for me, but when there's a bit unexpected happening, that's when they're good.
My honors go out to DLP's Big Thunder Mountain and SCBB's Dipper.

It sure has changed there since my last few visits. When I was really young I used to go up there every Presidents Day. Kids got in free for drawing a picture of their favorite president. Then' Six Flags bought them and tried to use the clone tool off of other Six Flags parks. It's nice to see that they finally realized that Marine World Africa USA was and remains to be in a different league. This addition seems like what they really need to bring back their real market. Now if only they'd return the Presidents Day deal.
