  1. How did Valleyscare go this weekend? It had to of been better than last week, that’s for sure!

Wasn’t able to make it out there myself this weekend but am looking forward to the next couple weekends!

On another note, is Cedarfair going to break the 5 or 6 year tradition of getting something new every year for Valleyfair? Cedarfair has been doing such a good job with Valleyfair these past few years with area one, and I was really looking forward to seeing what they had planned for Valleyfair next year, but I’m kind of disappointed with them. Are we the only park missing an announcement for the next year, and if so is Cedarfair just giving up on Valleyfair all of a sudden?

  2. I’m curious how did the knife get through the medal detectors or pass security? After last night I would think they would have more security and police officers at the park the rest of the Valleyfair/Scare?

The security guards seemed to be doing fine when I went through the checks, so I don’t think the problem was through that, but then again all it takes is one person having a security check done wrong to cause something like this. I’m leaning more toward the idea that the knife, or any other sort of weapon, may of been just tossed over the dinos alive fence, and retrieved once they were inside the park. Once the guests were evacuated from the park, all it took to spread the issue were people reaching into their cars and pulling out whatever weapons they had inside their cars. That was one of the things that I heard someone mention in a video I watched on Facebook, is that people were pulling out weapons from their cars and getting involved. I’m very thankful that I parked near Steel Vnom and was able to get out of there before things just got awful. According to what I had heard there were about 100 police officers there and a helicopter with a searchlight. I feel really bad for Valleyfair, they never would of been able to see something like this coming. I just hope nobody sues.

On a more somewhat positive note, is Dark Harvest/Hellside Farm not making a return? I really loved that maze and it was even one of my favorites, even though it was typically understaffed. And is anyone else disappointed by the scare zone that used to be where the blood creed cemetary used to lie? I had gone through there to pick up some Chick-fil-a before the park had evacuated and found it to be pretty lame. It was more of an entertainment attraction to me. That was the only thing I got a chance to do though, as I was heading to Beserkers Unleashed when they announced through the speakers that the park was being evacuated. Overall, with the cherry on top being Hacks Live not returning, Valleyscare is off to a bad start with me. Other opinions?

  3. I just saw this on the Valleyfairs web app. It says something old is going away...Something new is here to stay? Ideas what this might mean?
humane habitat is being removed and undertakers is taking its place

So undertakers is going in where humane habitat used to lie. Sounds like it’s Essentially a maze version of blood creek cementary, but what will happen to the space where blood creek cemetery used to rest? (No pun intended)

Plus is anyone else really disappointed that they won’t be having Hacks live back this year? That show was always the sole reason I went to Valleyscare. The mazes and all were great and all, but Hacks was just an amazing funny show.

And does anyone else feel that Picnic Point would be a great place for a maze, or route 76 would be a great place for a scare zone? Or that they could fit in another maze in where the waterpark lies? Valleyscare could have so much other potential; if only they could get the staff.

  4.

Also, on the subject of the land clearing by Excalibur, I just rode it today and could not see any land clearing that was allegedly said to be there.

Yeah when I rode it before, the only thing I noticed was a land clearing located next to the grain elevators. I don’t know if that was there before, as I had never really paid attention to that area, or if it was recently cleared away, but is it even on Valleyfair’s land?

  5. I take back what I said about the games area needing a makeover. I was at the park a few days ago and realized how weirdly themed the area by Renegade is. They have attractions themed to the Wild West, Pirates, vampires, and surfers all right next to each other. It's like the park couldn't come up with one theme so they just did every theme they could think of. I really hope this area of the park just gets one overall theme.

I think they’re doing fine, as I’m guessing Looping Starship will soon be removed for a waterpark expansion eliminating the pirate problem. Renegade is the dominant ride in the area, so of those themes it should remain a Wild West area. The vampire Chateau is only used during the Haunt, when everybody is mainly focused on the mazes and not rides, so I don’t think there is a big deal there. Not to mention that during the summer it just looks like a normal storage building. Compare this to how Zombie High is just sitting there, even more visible then the Chateau. Nobody complains about that being there, so why would people care about the Chateau being where it is during the summer. As for the wheel of fortune ride, well that kinda relates to the Wild West theme, but could be replaced with a better Wild West themed thrill ride. I always thought that the whole Wild West back was cool, and feel that while they expand the new land in the back, they should continue the theme past Renegade. I don’t think that the Soak City “Surfer” theme is all that bad, because they have a gate and entrance separating it from the Wild West section. Not to mention if they move the entrance over to Mad mouse eventually, and use the current space plus Looping Starthip for another slide complex, maybe a mat racer, or sideways funnel, then that would further separate Soak City from the Wild West section of the park.

  6. This thread has been inactive for awhile, so I figured I’d post a few things as I was at the park today.

Does anybody know of Chick-fil-a will be there the entire summer, and if so then will we be seeing them put up a permanent walk in building if they make enough money? Thoughts on this idea?

On the other hand, I rode Excalibur today, and the only clearing of trees I noticed was near the grain elevator thing. Is this work that Valleyfair did, or is it work that was done by the owners of the grain elevator? I also didn’t see any heavy machinery in the employee parking lot that could be used for removing, or making room in the back, so are they really starting on this? I mean correct me if I’m wrong, but it honestly doesn’t look like they’ve shown any effort in following through with the permit that was approved last year. Especially with the old white slides being painted.

On a more positive note, Delirious is a great ride!!! Anyone who trash talks it just doesn’t have any hope in Valleyfair. People just need to look at what VF has done with area one and see that they will eventually spread what they did with area one to the rest of the park. I believe that this was mentioned earlier, but I think that the next area of the park that will be focused on is the games midway, with so much potential for that area of the park. Removal of the arcade, Panda Express moving over there with a new walk in building, new rides fitting into new spaces (I’m looking at you empty field near Wild Thing where Tilter used to be). Although there is an uneven balance between Route 76, and the rest of the park, this will slowly change as Valleyfair updates the rest of the park while expanding onto the back. I personally am looking forward to what Valleyfair does throughout the next 10-15 years!

Anyone else have any predictions on what they could do to even the balance between Route 76 and the rest of the park? Speaking in regards to lighting packages, pathways, rides, etc. Or even better, what do people hope to see come to the back of the park when Valleyfair begins to expand into the land focused on in the permit?

  7. One of my earlier posts was about a $120,000 buildng permit for a Coke Refresh station at VF. Just checked again and now there is a building permit for plumbing valued at $16,000 where the project name is 76 COKE REFRESH so the Route 76 area is getting a Coke Refresh station it looks like. Can’t imagine one Coke Refresh station is $120,000 so I expect to see them placing a couple more of these around the park in area’s that have the plumbing infrastructure in place already. Should help with souvenir drink bottle sales.

Man when are they ever going to get a coke freestyle station instead of the refresh ones?

  8. I overheard a rumor from employees that since Panda Express is so successful then there will be a new permanent building built in place of RipTide to let in more people. Also, if they do end up updating that area of the park, then I'm totally down for that. Maybe see a new refreshed games midway, something to replace Supercat, maybe a dark ride in place of the bumper cars, or something to go in the place of the arcade, because how much does that really draw in? They also need to put in a ride in the field where tilt-a-whirl used to sit, as it is so empty and would be a perfect place to put in something. The question now is what would be good rides to put in here?

I think something should also go in place of the old Cosmic coaster place because it hasn't been used the past few years for much. Since Chick-fil-a is such a big success here in Minnesota I think that would be a cool thing to add in.

  9. One thing that I've noticed is that in these past 4 years it's been all about emphasizing area one, and since there's not much more they can do in that area except maybe put something in wild thing's helix what area of the park do you think is next? I think the games midway could use some updating with being able to move the games area back since there's plenty of space behind the midway stage, or I think removing supercat and putting the enterprise there would be nice, or even a new restaurant would go good in there. It's also just so wide at some points, and I feel they could utilize that more and put something creative in.

Another thing I know they'll get started on soon is the waterpark expansion. There's a lot potential there for it to grow! Since we now have delirious I would like to see looping starship removed, and see a mat racer go in its place. The current entrance can be moved over by mad mouse and the current one we have now could be utalized for something else. I also feel like the old area of the waterpark could be updated with a brand new big kids splash pad. Some brand new body and tube slides would be nice, however I think that they should keep the raging rapids, the lazy river, maybe making it longer when they furthermore expand the waterpark, and the family river raft slide. The new slide complex in the old area I think should be a really nice one with plenty of slides so we don't have a backup of lines. Another thing I would love to see in the waterpark is a tornado slide but i don't know where it would go. I personally don't care if we get these slides used, maybe from wild water kingdom, as they are just sitting there, but I don't know. Of course we'll also see the new parking lot with this with a new entrance but one thing I'm wondering is would there be any room back there for other waterpark attractions?

  10. Let me describe my disappointment in this way, I'm actually surprised that I guessed it right! It's interesting how they'll be moving tilter to in between North Star and flying eagles, but that just leaves even more space in wild thing's helix, maybe for a new and improved Enterprise?! I honestly hope we have big expansions coming our way soon though because honestly these past few years have been a disappointment to me. We've been receiving good rides, however they haven't been what Valleyfair needs most.

  11. Here's my final prediction for next year. I think they'll end up moving the tilter to wild thing's helix, as I don't think it makes sense to move it to its old location where it would be basically all alone. I don't think they will give us a slingshot as they said the new ride will be a classic attraction. Knott's boomerang is a possibility I think, but highly unlikely. Otherwise other things that could come are a sky warp, but would it fit? It could be the enterprise but it doesn't look like it will in my opinion based off the previous hints. It could be a top scan which is likely as it would be a great ride to introduce into area 1, and is a very nice thrill ride, but overall, as much as I hate to say it, I think it will be a super loop because in the hinted photo the support looks a lot like the supports of a super loop.

On a side note the que line we see in the hinted photo is probably just the que line to Steel Venom, as that is where the new ride is supposedly supposed to go. Anyone know what is on the bottom left though? Maybe a fancy exit sign?

Since we won't be seeing Excalibur removed this season probably, when does everybody think we will see the waterpark expansion happening? I think it's possible we'll end up seeing it be removed end of next season hopefully, and if not maybe the next. One thing I hope they do start doing for sure is removing trees in the back of the park by the end of this season.

  12. This is HUGE! Though they got the MN wetland conservations acts approval they still need permission from the state, city, and federal agencies. Hopefully they will approve soon so this will go into play soon! On the other hand I had no idea they were also wanting to do work near the river at the guest side of the parking lot! I'm guessing it will be something to prevent flooding so they won't have to close down the parking lot if it floods. This would also mean they could redo the parking lot without the worry that it will flood the next year.

Going back to Excalibur I think that they will end up replacing the older part of the water park with something newer, and then add in a new park entrance with it then being near mad mouse and not looping starship. The parking lot entrance to the water park would have a split entrance possibly, with one leading to the water park and one entering over by thunder canyon. This could go where the current employee access road is. I could also see looping starship being replaced with a mat racer, or something like that in the near future also, with the entrance to it being by the new park entrance over by mad mouse.

Hopefully the start of the back of the park project will begin next year with just the parking lot and entrances. Then the following year a few changes back there. And the year after that could be the hopefully new rollercoaster where Dino's. Alive is now. Lastly the final changes are made back there and we begin to see the start of a brand new awesome area back there with maby a rollercoaster, flat rides, and many other hopeful things!
