1. Today was a pretty light day at the park.

Kind of annoying that Goliath, Superman, and Blue Hawk were running one train today, but hey, they only have a two month turnaround to maintain the rides.

TC, Mindbender, Batman, DDD were all running 2+ trains, so the wait was little if not nonexistent.

Scorcher is looking good though the red paint and grey supports are looking really good and WAY better than the old paint job.

Also, the general was running again today. The Texas was in the R.R. parking building.

  2. I just looked at some videos on youtube of GASM running backwards and noticed they were using the old cyclone trains. Are these a replacement and what are they going to do with the old buzz bar trains that I loved so much?

Yes, according to the park they are a permanent replacement (they will stay even once they switch back to the forward operation). After experiencing GASM backwards last weekend, I found the ride to be smoother than I expected. I still got some pretty good airtime even with the different trains. I’m not completely sure why the park decided to retire the old trains in the first place.

Yea I wish they never retired them in the first place because they were great especially with the buzz bars and now wish I could have gotten a few more rides on it with them on. It’s great that the airtime is still there. Is it smoother with the cyclone trains or the old ones?

  3. I think that as a construction company, RMC will likely be competent enough to acquire the necessary equipment to construct all the things they have contracts for.

I agree with that but I thought they might just have an extra crane taking off some of the track and then an RMC will show up a few days or weeks from now. I thought they would come over when they can take some pressure off the mean streak construction, which is a huge deal and probably the largest project they've ever done.

  4. The final teaser has just been released. It looks like they may be putting the emphasis on JLBFM because it was a "dark" video with the occasional scene of the previous trailer. They could be totally throwing us off because I know that it's an RMC coming especially since only track has come off and they are lowering some supports for a pre lift section. The ride wouldn't have track removed from the coaster if it was getting torn down. The areas I noticed the track off were the pre section before the lifthill, the station, and the turnaround before the last section and the turn around that led into the crazy 4th drop. And correct me if I'm wrong that they were also removing track from the brake run?

  5. I want to the park today and all I can say is RMC confirmed. Everything is running extremely well today. There were at most station wait at every ride except JLBFM. GASM was running especially well today and I marathoned it 5 times without getting off. Similar story on Goliath with staying in the station and riding a total of 7 times without leaving the station. There is no question Cyclone is getting RMC'd.

  6. I'm going to the park tomorrow, and I will see the story on Cyclone. Based on the pictures, it looks like an RMC conversion at this point but I have yet to see the construction happening in person. I'm confident in my response that it is an RMC especially considering the fact it's not torn down and it looks like they're not tearing it down anytime soon. Hopefully I can report back with some good news from SFOG.

  7. Visited park today and not much happening on Cyclone.

First thing, there are 2 cranes still onsite.

The stress or tie cables on the first drop side are removed from the center ties down. They are just hanging down.

They removed 2 small sections of track to let the cranes inside. There is a section of wheels that is sitting on top of the track between the storage shed and station. Also, it appears track has been removed from the station.

    RMC? Maybe?

Yes, this looks like an RMC. If they were tearing this down, it would already be gone. If they are removing track from the station and removing only parts like stress cables and tie cables, then it will almost definitely be an RMC conversion. They need to rework all of the cables plus put all the new steel track in to make it an RMC. I don't think that crane was an RMC one but since this park has the advantage of not getting snow in the winter unlike SFNE they may wait for RMC to come in after August 31st because otherwise people will know what is going on since this is at the front of the park and you can see the layout of it from all different angles inside and outside of the park. It would suck if we had to wait until August 31st- 1st week of September fo RMC crews to show up. This is looking great!

  8. Oh FFS

    Georgia Cyclone

    Mean Streak

    Hurler

... eyes on the prize people.

But then there's the footers in the background with no markers which means that it looks like all the footers won't be torn down so horray RMC Cyclone is coming. For some weird reason I think the green will either respresent the track color or something to do with the theme but I could be totally wrong about the green part. Hurlers and mean streaks are marked differently in a slightly different color so I hope this turns out to be a very good, intense, compact RMC. Yeah, also to mention the first commet on the page, talking about the teasers about thinking that it started with hurricane harbor, then this, then D.C. Super friends, then Justice League right before the announcement makes total sense, it's just there to throw us off.

  9. Yeah, I'm still convinced it's a RMC conversion, but we'll know for sure in 2 weeks.

I completely agree. I think that if they were to tear this thing down, especially considering that it was built in 1990, similar to Mean Streak, Texas Giant, Rattler, and Hurler, that only makes it seem more realistic. If they were to pull another rolling thunder which was torn down for zumanjaro and instead but in a 4D Free Spin that wouldn't be "innovation at its finest", especially since this is on a master plan created in 2013-2014 when six flags started to get lots of RMC's and even Gene Petriello said in his video to coaster addict that you could almost tell by his wording it would be an RMC. Also, referring to older information about one person who said that the cyclone would preserve the same wood it has for 27 years seems pretty accurate because he knew they were closing it because insiders from the park knew people didn't like this ride so they closed it to convert it to an RMC. The teaser is just to throw us off especially because of the red arrow but I also noticed there were also 2 green fidget spinners and 2 purple fidget spinners that resemble the joker 4d coaster which I swear if that replaces Cyclone I will literally never go to six flags over Georgia again and then all those bobble heads were there to throw us off.

I meant put instead of but on the 3rd line lol autocorrect

  10. Yeah, I'm still convinced it's a RMC conversion, but we'll know for sure in 2 weeks.

  11. Just guessing, but I immediately thought of a Cyclone closing announcement when I saw this. SFNE pretty much did the same thing and did an early morning announcement. Especially with all the markers on the ride I would bet on them announcing it's closure tomorrow.

RMC Georgia Cyclone is happening!!!!!!!!!! Very well may be the best ride in the park and will bring more crowds to SFOG!!!!!

  12. I just recently went to the park this weekend and the operations were decent. I noticed scorcher has awful operations and very very bad paint job, which I hope doesn't lead to a floorless. I think this may be the best and most comfortable stand up out there, but if SF were to start converting, I think this one would unfortunately be first. Also, Georgia Cyclone got stuck on the lift hill quite a few times and I didn't ride because the ride is unbearablely rough from all my experience. Please come RMC! I think that the floorless conversion, any kind of RMC, or a S&S 4D coaster will come here next year. I really hope this park also eventually gets a GCI so we can finally have a really good wooden coaster. The GP were crying and shouting on superman, "I want to get off... ahhhhhh!"

  13. ^They are off and I hope they stay that way. Intimidator was at the very bottom of my B&M hyper list, while Goliath is likely the best (I've been on all except Mako in the US) but honestly the way Intimidator is running is comparable to Goliath now. You get sustained airtime and get kind of whipped over the last bit of each drop. Night and day compared to when they trims hit hard.

I totally agree! Intimidator is great without the trims off, and IS comparable to Goliath at SFOG, Diamondback, and Shambhala. The only reason why I don't like it as much as those top 3 hyper coasters (3-1 Shambhala is the best IMO) is because it doesn't constantly have the trims off. If it didn't have the trims on, it could possibly rank the same as Goliath for me. Goliath might be #1 or #2 for me if it always had the trims off after the helix because of the crazy ejector airtime. I really hope Intimidator stays like this.

  14. Is anyone going not this weekend, but next weekend for opening day? I'm wondering about VR, the trains (and hopefully paint) on GA scorcher, Superman repaint and 3 trains?, and JLBFM. I'm really hoping that the "new" area around superman and JLBFM looks nice, too (but it's six flags, guys).

Acrophobia is getting the VR! YES! Not a coaster, But, unfortunately that means one of the best drop rides in the U.S. is basically gone because of all the long lines.
