  1. 3 mile antique cars ride sounds sooo much more interesting, though! I'm cool with this, though I wish it was ready in time for this year's WinterFest. Would make for an especially nice "ride through the lights" attraction then.

I am kind of surprised there's a company that's still making these attractions.

Chance Rides makes new electric cars. I wonder if they'll be the ones that make the Antique Cars for Kings Island.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm actually pretty excited for this. I actually LOVE antique car rides! I mean, they almost always have short lines and it is just plain fun!

  2. And I was fortunate enough to get on their one of a kind German fun fair ghost train from 1972, which has only been open for 2 days! I even talked to the staff about it for about 20-30 minutes, and learned a lot about it, and they have big plans for it (including putting in live actors for Halloween!). It's still a work in progress, they aren't finished with it yet--they just wanted to get it up and running. But the operators have a real passion for it, and have a haunt background (and they got some assistance from a Knott's Berry Farm Haunt designer!). While it's a bit rough around the edges right now (and they know it), I think the potential is pretty clear, and am excited for its future. It could be a real jewel.

This is great--thanks for highlighting it! The park is definitely on my list for my next Branson visit. Someone kindly save me the searching--were there originally whisperings that this park would/might be temporary? I hope it sticks around.

You remember correctly. They've advertised it as this summer only, but they've also dropped hints that if they make enough money on it, they'll come back next year.

Edgeboy, glad to hear it's open and that it's a good experience. I'll have to get down there soon to check it out for myself.

Where have they advertised it as this summer only? That just doesn't seem right since they built a huge, permanent building with a large, paved parking lot and a large LED sign. If they really only intended to keep it open for a summer (or at least just test the waters for a year) then they would just have a gravel parking lot, a cheap sign, and no building at all.

  3. When I think of a car/racing theme for some reason I think of one of those Vekoma Blitz/Firestorm type coasters. Combined with Six Flags loving to adopt a new ride concept (in the US anyway), I wonder if it could be one of these.

I'd love a Lech Coaster style ride. That ride looks super intense and amazing and it only cost seven million US dollars. I feel like Six Flags would love a model like that since it is so cheap. I'd love to see them go with a design that had more airtime though. It seems that the park doesn't have a whole lot of airtime oriented rides.

  4. Is anybody going to Alabama Splash Adventure for opening day? I'm interested to hear some reviews on the park this season. Of everything that is being added across the amusement industry in 2018, this is probably the expansion I'm most looking forward to, and it isn't because it is my home park (SDC is). It just makes me happy to see such a small park that was practically closed make such a large investment. Plus I love the three major flat rides that they are adding, and I always think it is wonderful to add new kid rides. I just bought a new car that gets forty-two miles per gallon, I'm seriously thinking about taking a road trip with my closest friends down to Alabama Splash Adventure.

Also, does anybody know anything about the Freefall slides? I remember they had a speed slide a couple years ago on the tower with the bowl slide, but it was removed. The new park map has the bowl slide as being removed and two speed slides in its place with the caption "coming summer 2018."

  5. Gosh. I kind of really want to get out to Six Flags St. Louis this year to try the new Boss. Maybe I can hit it up on the way up to Six Flags Great America. I wish they had put something in place of Highland Fling this year or kept it open another year. I'm thinking either a Tourbillon or a Chance Freestyle will be going in its place next year. Or, this is a wild idea, but I'd love to see them remove that upcharge skycoaster behind it also and add a second kiddie area with a kiddie coaster. Bugs Bunny National Park is a pretty small kiddie section and the smallest coaster in the park is Pandemonium. I'd love to see them add a DC Superfriends area. A while ago, Six Flags sent out a guest survey asking about kiddie rides at certain parks.

  6. Yeah I am really not a fan of the mandatory photo booth right in the queue line. Hoping they redo it sooner than later. Or at least make it optional to help with flow.

It is optional....but most of us mid-westerners are too polite to not take the picture...lol. I too hope it goes away....I'm guessing it might take a season or two before it's gone. Saw I lot of people with those pics running around the park.

I don't think it is a too polite thing. I think most of them think it is mandatory. The attendants don't ask "would you like to take a picture?" They instead ask "how many?" Then they direct you where to stand.

  7. Well. I just got home from Silver Dollar City. I meant to go yesterday, but I was throwing up all morning. Anywho, I got into the park right at rope drop and ran right to Time Traveler. Everybody else went right to Time Traveler. By the time I got there, there was already an hour long line. I thought it was going to be longer due to the fact that the line was out past the sign, but as soon as you get into the building, you realize the wait won't be that long. The main problem is the photo booth. As soon as get through the photo booth, there is no line until the second floor. And they were having everybody take a picture. I thought you would only get your picture taken if you actually bought it before you got in line, but they pull everybody aside. I almost wish that there was a separate shop or something off of the exit where you could get your picture taken. The line moved really slowly for Time Traveler since they were only running two trains. I thought they would have used all trains today since most of the schools are out for Good Friday and it is the first nice day in a week. I loved the station for Time Traveler. I loved the spinning gears and the lights.

So, I was assigned to the second car. I wish I was assigned to the back so I could get pulled over the drop. But it was fun up there because you hang over the drop a bit before going down. I went down the drop sideways and then I went through the dive loop backwards. I launched backwards and then my car actually started spinning kind of quickly through the next portion of the ride. I ended up going through the second launch sideways and I remained sideways for the rest of the ride.

I loved it. It was SO FUN! It is no doubt my favorite ride in the park now. So, I don't usually like going backwards on rides, but I thought it felt fine on this ride. There's just no other way to describe it other than fun! I really do hope more parks get rides like this. It was just so incredible! It seems like people always complain about that pause before the first launch, I'm glad it is there. It seems like the vehicles start spinning more after they come to a stop and it is fun. My one complaint with this ride would probably be the queue line. It just seems so odd and out of place walking down the hill and then climbing back up to the top, then having to cross a bridge to exit. But otherwise, what a spectacular ride!

  8. Wow, I really didn't think they would pull off a coaster, but that will be a good fit for them. Has anyone been by the property? Are they building any permanent structures such as bathrooms, or is it just going to be completely fair style? The fact that they are making a big permanent sign is a good... sign.

The new water park/white water course is a whole different league though. That is seriously a huge game-changing proposal, and I will be watching closely for news about the meeting tomorrow.

    (To the sign part)

I'm sure they will have a couple of permanent facilities. At least three buildings I think: one for an arcade, one for a bathroom, and one for a restaurant. And I wasn't expecting a coaster either. I thought it'd strictly be flat rides.

I wonder what the water park will mean for White Water. I wonder if they are going to start adding more additions. Before capsule slides in 2014, the last new water slide was in 2007 with the slide tower by the road. Though I don't see how they could expand, they only sit on thirteen acres and they are completely land locked.
