  5. (Concluded) Time to go outside... Here's where the old part of the ride starts. The straight-away beneath the lift hill is the former brake run from the original layout of the coaster. The former brakes were removed and a new s-curve was added to lead the train back to the new station. Slacking on the job... I had no choice but to try some of Granny's Apple Fries! I certainly wasn't disappointed! Definitely a great snack to share with others! Fuzzball? SQUEEEEE! Time to visit the Lego Factory! I was thoroughly impressed with Legoland Florida and can't wait to come back! We definitely will be! It's so nice to see the parking lot full! We see you Flying Island! You certainly are a rare bird! Thanks again for a great time Legoland Florida! This was another awesome media event and a great day at the park! And seriously. Shame on these people! Park at Legoland--it is seriously worth it!
  6. (Continued) The I-Zone Panini dining location opened recently at the park... A nice and simple location... The Hero Factory also recently opened in the Imagination Zone. It seemed pretty busy during our visit. The Imagination Zone also features the WB Games Zone!, as WB Games now publishes all Lego-branded games. There are game stations for guests to try out different Lego games on different consoles. Robb shared with me the story of the Chainsaw Bunny... Do you know why he's significant? Lego Batman and Robin from the video game are featured in the park currently. We see you Chainsaw Bunny! Pirates Cove hosts a water ski show, which we covered previously before the park opened. Time to act all good and historically proper! Legoland Florida has done an incredible job integrating the Cypress Gardens heritage into their new park. Even the logo is a throwback to the old park! She's awfully purty! Stunning! Time to visit the famous Banyan Tree! So cool! This'll be my Hannukah card picture! What have we here? It's the Legoland Water Park progress! The thrill slide tower is getting a new cover and paint job! "Going up the stairs and going down the stairs, and going up the sideways stairs!" Good and proper! A look back... We promised Renee we'd include a trash can photo... Plus they serve Pepsi. There's some amazing landscapes at Legoland Florida! The Lego Friends Shop opened at the park recently. The park's carousel has been updated to include Lego horses. And now they have Lego jesters! My favorite photo op! Time to check out The Dragon! It's all for the love of Larry! The former Okeechobee Rampage underwent a significant upgrade to become The Dragon. The track was extended at the beginning and end of the attraction to allow for new show scenes and a slightly longer ride experience. The ride has an additional train but was only running one during our visit... And here it is! There's a rat cut in half. He's huge! His tail even busts through the wall.
  7. (Continued) Time to check out Miniland for the first time! A few of the Legoland Water Park benches has shown up within the park's borders... It's the Daytona 500 Speedway! The cars even race! The Florida section of Miniland features a scale model of the Bok Tower from Bok Tower Gardens. The Rocket Garden at Kennedy Space Center still exists at Legoland Florida despite being taken down to make way for the Shuttle Atlantis experience. The recreation is flawless! Seriously awesome stuff! Excuse me while I geek out... New York, New York. Mirage with a working volcano! Here's one you should recognize! And the actual New York too... Washington, D.C. features a moving marching band! The Grauman's Chinese Theater sans Great Movie Ride... No Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit here! YAY! If you're going to San Francisco... Tiny details... More of D.C. The Pirates scene was insanely impressive! Moving ships, exploding cannons, water blasts. They went all out with this one! Moving into the Land of Adventure... We love Sally Dark Rides! Theming! Beetle Bounce blends well into the area. The Royal Joust looked like fun, but we skipped it today. The most heavily themed area is definitely Lego Kingdoms. Look out! Coastersaurus looks far better than Triple Hurricane did thanks to the addition of some well grown foliage. I spy fresh wood! Also didn't have time for the Safari Trek, but it looked awesome! Coastersaurus had a 45 minute wait, so we had to skip it, but I look forward to riding it when I return. About a week ago, Legoland Florida debuted a new food item in the form of Waffle Spears! Fresh wood! This was one attraction we HAD to do today! Aquazone Wave Racers is probably my favorite attraction in the park that I've experienced so far! It's kind of like the Flyers you find at most parks (like Knoebels) except you whip the vehicles using water instead of wind. This is a look of genuine terror... As awesome as this ride was, it seriously freaked me out! This was still a concrete pad the last time I was here! Guess where we went next? Lego City Rescue Academy was so much fun, and was quite a workout for my weak arm muscles! Another must do at Legoland Florida! The Lego City Ford Driving School is definitely popular with the young ones... Definitely looking forward to checking out the Legoland Water Park later this year! The former Swamp Thing sports a new station and track color scheme. The Imagination Zone is pretty neat.
  8. On Thursday I along with Robb had the opportunity to attend a special media event for the unveiling of a brand new attraction at Legoland Florida. The Fresh from Florida Greenhouse is an updated attraction that has been a part of Cypress Gardens' history since before the park became an "adventure park." While not a part of the park's opening projects, General Manager Adrian Jones made it clear that the park's ability to greatly exceed their attendance and revenue targets has allowed for smaller projects like this one to move forward. He also made it clear that there's much more in store for Legoland Florida, including the upcoming opening of the Legoland Water Park as well as the soon-to-begin construction on the Legoland Hotel, which he said would likely be the largest hotel in the chain thus far, and would include additional gardens and an expansion of the historic Cypress Gardens mansion still found on the property today. The Fresh from Florida Greenhouse itself is an awesome little exhibit with a great mix of education, interactivity and Lego models embedded in a well designed environment. It truly was a great blend of all that Legoland does so well. Having only been to Legoland Florida during its some of the construction tours, it was quite a difference to see the park open to the public. The place was much busier than I expected, and we agreed that the crowd that the park saw on that day was more than we ever saw at Cypress Gardens Adventure Park. It is truly clear to see a new passion for the park with Legoland and its wonderful staff, especially Adrian Jones. I was truly shocked at the level of detail found in the parks (specifically in Miniland), especially because I had never been to another Legoland location before this. The landscape and design of the park (in part thanks to what was already developed for Cypress Gardens over the years) blends beautifully into the fabric of what Legoland has laid out, and if you had now clue that Cypress Gardens existed first, you'd swear that Legoland must have been around for quite some time. Another interesting note... The park has been receiving minor additions and operational updates since its opening, including new covered awnings for queues and open areas needing shade. They've also opened several smaller attractions in the Imagination Zone plus one more dining venue! To see some of the earlier visits to the park and compare to how things are, check out our Media Preview Report as well as our Park Opening Report. Considering we went on an accelerated tour of the park due to time constraints, I'm eager to get back to the park and see what a full day there could include. There are several attractions I did not get to experience (or experience enough) and I think I could probably spend another couple of hours just taking in all of the detail at Miniland. Plus, with the Legoland Water Park, Legoland Hotel and continued efforts to bring old Cypress Gardens facilities back into Legoland, I truly look forward to returning to this park as soon as possible. I honestly cannot get over how impressed I was with this park! Now, its time for an Adam-sized photo report! Welcome to Legoland Florida! The entrance to the park is very well designed and looks nothing like its predecessor. There's an organic reason we're here today... Theme Park Review was invited to attend the media preview of the Fresh from Florida Greenhouse! This greenhouse has actually been at Cypress Gardens since before it was the Adventure Park. Known as the Wings of Wonder Greenhouse, it included live butterflies within its glass walls. Located right next to the park's historic mansion, the greenhouse is near the main entrance plaza of the park. Fresh from Florida sponsors the revived attraction in the hopes of promoting local agricultural markets and the education of agriculture at a young age. Park General Manager Adrian Jones kicked off the opening ceremony with some words on the exponential success of Legoland Florida since its opening. Notice the Lego mini-figure on his name badge... Adrian Jones welcomes Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam to the podium, giving him the mini-figure from his badge. The mini-figure was a Lego version of Adam Putnam! He seemed pretty excited to be presented himself in Lego form. Looks very nice! Time to plant the last tree near the Greenhouse to mark the grand opening of the attraction! Shovel, shovel, shovel! And with that, the opening ceremonies concluded. He's my buddy! He's your buddy! He's Buddy Lego! We all know who is in charge here! Tiny attention to detail like this took me by surprise. Noted! Here we go! They've got this awesome little game where you guess the seed and press a button based on your guess... Based on your answer, a mouse will pop up to let you know if you answered correctly or not. Very cute! These mice can be found throughout the greenhouse. Lego mini displays are integrated into the greenhouse landscape. The venue itself is pretty large and features air conditioning, which makes for a very relaxing experience to be taken at a leisurely pace. General Manager Adrian Jones took the time to talk to us about the new Greenhouse and about future plans for the park. He's definitely passionate about Legoland Florida, and it was a great pleasure to have the chance to hear from him regarding the many things in store for this fantastic park! Go Gators! I think this illustrates the beauty of the greenhouse pretty well! The little details... Some of the displays feature interactive elements like this one! These Lego oranges look good enough to eat! They have a cow-milking simulator here! Experience +1 There's a section of the exhibit based on beeswax and honey. "Not the bees! AHHHHHHH Ahgarbulagabah my eyes! my eyes!" Name the reference! The bees even light up! There's a wishing well here for donations to Merlin's Magic Wand. A tribute to the history of the greenhouse from when it was open at Cypress Gardens. Fresh fruit anyone? Well there was plenty of it at the exit! They even gave us some delicious samples that made us do this... I covet fresh fruit on wafers... Tis a weakness of mine. We like good fruit! Time to move out into the rest of the park...

  12. I see Bubba Gumps construction work! If I ever get back to Texas, I guess I'll have to come to the Pier, at least to get my new Gumps credit.
  13. So this may be a departure from my normal trip reports, but after having such a great time on Spring Break, I felt compelled to share my experience with the Random Forum (in my first venture here)! While it is widely known that I am a theme park enthusiast as well as a scuba diver, foodie and all-around travel-aholic, a lesser known part of me is my love of skiing. I've been skiing since I was four years old, and while it has been over five years since my last trip, it is something I find personal paradise in. Visiting our favorite mountain about an hour outside of Montreal, Quebec, Mont Tremblant is a ski-in-ski-out destination with a fantastic village and several attached mountains that are a part of the total resort. It is a sister property to Whistler and it is very much Americanized in its operation, despite its Quebecois background. English and Quebecois French are both spoken fluently here, making for a visitor friendly vacation for those not fluent in French or the local dialect. Seriously, everything about the mountain is incredible. The runs are beautiful, challenging and well kept. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The ski village is large and well diversified with unique shops and restaurants. They offer tons of alternative experiences to skiing and snowboarding, including snow shooing, dog sledding, carriage rides, snow mobiles, snow tubing, cross country skiing and much more. They even have an awesome, brand new casino attached to the mountain (complete with a special gondola that takes you all the way there from the main ski village). I could spend a month here if I had the time or money, but even the few days we were here were filled with some incredible experiences. We started off our first day of skiing at our favorite restaurant on the mount. La Diable is a microbrewery and restaurant in the ski village that features some incredible food and some even more amazing beers. This right here is the number one reason we come to La Diable. The Extreme onction is my favorite beer in the world, and for better or for worse, it is only available here. It is not exported or bottled, as the permits for the brewery only allow the beer to be sold within the restaurant's walls. Sheer perfection in a glass. I am in heaven! Our meal started off with some amazing french onion soup... Which you can tell we hated! I got the delicious La Diable burger with an awesome mushroom mayo, served with a side of Montreal-style fries! I seriously want these! Beautiful! As I mentioned, the restaurant brews its own beers here. I love little details like this! The interior of the restaurant is filled with little details here and there, which is a nice plus! The restaurant has several brews, but the Extreme is their signature item. Sadly, you can't buy these. Hop art! So... Poutine is a thing in Canada. Basically it is french fries with gravy and cheese curds. Not my thing, but it is big enough here to warrant a restaurant dedicated to different types of poutine. It was a little cold during our trip, but skiing conditions were perfect! The resort's mascot is a skiing moose. The Cabriolet from the bottom of the village takes you to the bottom of the skiing mount, passing over several of the hotels, restaurants and timeshares on the mountain along the way. Up at the top of the mountain itself, the view is stunning. Say hello to Ninja Adam! The main face of the mountain in the morning looks incredible after just being groomed. Fresh powder to be carved! The ski village is designed to really wrap around the ski runs. At the top of the mountain is Le Grand Manitou, a restaurant for skiings to relax at during their downtime from the slopes. The view from the balcony of Le Grand Manitou is no less impressive! This is definitely not Martin Short's (O) Canada! A zoomed in view of the village from Le Grand Manitou. Despite the sun being out all day, the frost didn't disappear. I thought this was kind of neat to see... This lets you know which lifts are open and the wait times for each. We're pretty high up! The Edge was a run we discovered on this trip, which is accessible only by taking a special side lift on another side of the mountain. By the time we had gotten here, no one else had carved the course yet. Thinking of canvasing this picture... What do you think? For lunch we at at La Pizzateria, another favorite of ours. I opted to start with a plate of toasted goat cheese. Incredible as always! Some of the best garlic bread ever! This pizza has no shortage of bacon! I had the Calzonne de Crevettes... An amazing calzone with shrimp, sun dried tomatoes, green peppers and lots of cheese! Some beautiful weather up at the top! Yep! They sell Coke products up here too! And yes, this is a play on my avatar on TPR. Tire su la neige is another unique favorite of mine that I've loved since our first visit to Tremblant, and it is extremely popular for the guests of the mountain. I remember when it used to be one Canadian dollar to buy this... First, they boil maple syrup... Then they pour it onto a pit filled with fresh (and clean) snow. You put a popsicle stick at one end and let the syrup settle for about 45 seconds... Then you roll... And you get an awesome maple syrup popsicle! "I love Tire." "Adam, are you just naming things that you love?" "I love Tire. I love Tire." Tremblant has hosted some winter sports champions... A monument to those athletes' greatness. The mountain has tons for courses for all types of skiers. I primarily stick to the greens and blues, but my brother ventures onto the black and double black diamonds, as well as the trick parks. I like maple syrup, but I'll pass. Time for more Tire! And more importantly, time for more Extreme Onction! They sell Coca-Cola here too! And they brew even more beer down here! I love Mont Tremblant! Marvel in its greatness! The first and last time I'll ever wear a buret. The Sweet Factory is a candy store franchise that used to be prominent in a lot of Floridian malls but disappeared many years ago. It is extremely popular in Montreal still and has some candies we can't often get here in Florida... Like these amazing licorice straws! A sweet ending for an incredible Spring Break vacation!

  15. Universal Orlando has sent us a press release regarding the opening of the Hollywood Drive-In Golf at Universal CityWalk.
  16. It is the rumored (or should I say, strongly suggested to happen) evolution of the Fastpass system which will complement the existing free system in the form of a paid-to-use or resort exclusive (this hasn't been revealed, so the logistics are still based on speculation) add on to the park experience. This would include the hypothetical ability to reserve your ride time (like a Fastpass) days, weeks or possibly months ahead of your trip. This system would also include show times, parade and firework viewings and dining reservations. That being said, none of this has been officially confirmed, so take it all with a grain of salt. You can see the foundations have risen here for the coaster. I assume you are talking about the path pictured on the map, right? It is still open to guests for access between the two lands. They actually rethemed the lamp posts to transition between the two lands, but I figured nobody would be interested in seeing 200 photos of lamp posts, right?

  19. I've added my POV of the Barnstormer to the original report, but you can also see it here!
  20. (Continued) It won't take long for me to get used to this view! Yep. This is a trash can photo. But a nice one at that. Here's Dumbo's ticket booth. Peanuts have been placed in the pavement to enhance the circus atmosphere by Dumbo. Storks invade Florida in this Dumbo art panel at the lower section of the ride's base. More artwork... Casey Jr.? This is the first Dumbo to fly in a clockwise motion... Plus this is the first Floridian Dumbo to feature water in the ride. In case you were wondering... Seriously loving the Carolwood affection! *Drools* Some energy efficient LED light bulbs have been installed on the side of the Fantasyland Train Station as a test. The embedded rail tracks run along much of The Barnstormer's outer area near the actual Walt Disney World Railway. I find this detail to be pretty awesome! Queue cameras are well themed to blend in. You saw it here first! Survey markings for Florida's version of Journey to the Center of the Earth can be found on the back side of Storybook Circus on the way to Tomorrowland! I can't wait to see the Floridian Lava Monster! Time for some more Dumbo details... This sign was brought over from the old Dumbo location in Fantasyland. #TimothyLives The Dumbo tents feature popcorn lighting that will surely help make the area look even better at night. It looks pretty nice doesn't it? Inside of the standard queue tent. I have a feeling this will become a must-photo moment forevermore. I'm not sure how the interactive queue will meld with the standard queue, but I look forward to seeing the tent open up once it is ready. Unlike the ride's previous location, the new standard queue allows cast members to distribute two groups of guests into two holding areas for the ride. One holding area for each full group of riders, meaning that they load one area onto the ride, and then the other. This Dumbo design is far more ornate than the previous one. Yay for water! More popcorn lighting! It's the first magical feather spotted in the wild! Yum! Peanuts! One fish, two fish, Up, Up, Up? More artwork... Pink elephants on parade! DOV! Dumbo Point of View! Work continues on the reassembly of the older Dumbo spinner. A near miss moment with the Barnstormer. Looking out towards New Fantasyland... A little more clear. Rockwork facing Storybook Circus is still being added. Foundations for the Snow White Mine Train Coaster continue to rise. A food cart from Main Street was moved over here to help serve the Spring Break crowds in passing. Today was the first day to have a Dumbo themed guide map... It was also the first to recognize Storybook Circus on the map. Thanks for reading!
  21. So today I had the chance to attend the first soft opening of Storybook Circus at Magic Kingdom. Storybook Circus is the first section of New Fantasyland to achieve partial completion, with the first half of Dumbo (the newer of the two spinners), the Barnstormer and the Fantasyland Train Station all opening to the public today. The area is set to undergo partial soft openings in the coming weeks, with the area remaining open to guest access even at times when the attractions are not always open; though the area may be closed off at times due to nearby construction. When it comes to Storybook Circus (as it stands so far), the Imagineers made sure this wasn't just a rehash of Mickey's Toontown Fair. The area is filled with vibrant colors in one area, but with toned down, realistic (almost gritty) schemes in others. All in all, the area feels far more "real" than the temporary form of the previous Toontown. Detail can be found in every nook, cranny, section of pavement, posters, signs and other miscellany. While only a portion is open, I think this does give us a great idea of what to expect from the rest of Storybook Circus and New Fantasyland. As somewhat of a skeptic to the idea of reusing much of the former area I am happy to say that my concerns were put to rest with this area's debut. I look forward to seeing what comes next when the Storybook Circus tents, the interactive queue for Dumbo and the rest of New Fantasyland opens over the next year and a half. Due to construction on the Grand Floridian DVC, the monorail is experiencing closures throughout the day. Oh, the Spring Break crowds are here. This new poster can be found on the construction wall at the entrance to the Storybook Circus. It seems Humphrey the Bear will be brought back to guest view when Storybook Circus fully debuts. I'm thinking he'll host one of the food venues in one of the circus tents. And the other stars... Guess what guys? It's open! Extra queue space was prepared to the handle the expected crowds for The Barnstormer. One half of Dumbo's spinners is open, but the interactive queue is closed. Casey Jr. Splash 'N' Soak Station is currently under construction and will debut a little later this year. The Barnstormer has received a fresh look with a new paint scheme, new train colors and a more visible layout. The space next to the Barnstormer is far more open now, offering a great vantage point for guest photos and observation. The Barnstormer is no longer about Goofy as a crop duster, but as a stunt pilot in the circus. The Barnstormer has received an incredibly themed queue that far surpasses its previous form. Previous views had suggested that the back tent had been completed wrapped with its new skin, but the new vantage point has proven this false. More work to be done here. Goofy's aerial antics can be seen in the surrounding area thanks to thematic elements like this. Not just cut out of the target, Goofy's outline has been fringed and singed into the canvas. I spy Imagineering helmets! Goofy's stunt rocket didn't fare so well during its last run. The former exit of The Barnstormer has been converted (and expanded) to become the entrance for the attraction. Casey Jr. weathervane! The Barnstormer's entrance sign features clothing in the wind. It looks pretty great! Carolwood references! Awesome! Anyone know what this hidden tribute is for? It's a reference to Wise Acre Farms where Goofy used to crop dust in the Barnstormer! Another one of Goofy's many props. The fuse actually has fiber optic lighting to make it look like it is lit and flickering. The area surrounding The Barnstormer features some awesome Goofy artwork. The new entrance for the Barnstormer features three entrance paths, one used for standard queueing, the second for Fastpass and the third is currently unused. Could this be for the future XPass implementation? Barnstormer is rumored to be an attraction included in the service. Rocketeer reference! A look at the queue side of the rocket... The Barnstormer's station building was largely rebuilt and rethemed to match the new tone of the attraction. It just feels more real! Much like in the Town Square Theater, posters near the attraction tease aspects of the queue. The Wheel of Peril serves as a visual divider at the merge point between the fast pass and standard queues, making it easier for the general guest to not stare at the Fastpass guests as they move ahead of them. Train tracks leading from the eventual Casey Jr. roundhouse end just before the real tracks of the Walt Disney World Railroad. The redesigned queue offers some nice views of the attraction. The new restrooms are a part of the Fantasyland Train Station complex. I'll say no more, lest I be made fun of on this topic. That means you Robb. I spy a Soarin' reference! While it isn't the ride from Disneyland, it will be nice to have Casey Jr. at Walt Disney World in some form. Luggage from across the globe has been brought to the Fantasyland Train Station. Storybook Circus' pavement features footprints from the various circus animals that roam its borders. It's still wider than the construction paths at DCA! A roads lead to Rome... Or the Casey Jr. Roundhouse. The Barnstormers ticket booth. While Fastpass is not currently available for The Barnstormer, it will be down the line. This clock will show return times when the system is brought online. When can we start buying these posters?
  22. The park already has Back Lot Stunt Coaster and Flight Deck in its arsenal... How much lower can they go?
  23. http://www.wdsu.com/news/30623633/detail.html
  24. ^That looks pretty darn amazing! But you have to remember that TPR is one big family and the cover photo should have a sense of family to it... Might I suggest this lovely portrait (that Bryan had long forgotten about) to convey the message properly... But in all seriousness, I really love where you're taking this! Keep up the awesome work!
