^But if that's the biggest complaint anyone has going against the Tokyo Disneyland Resort in general, I think they're doing just fine! -

Last Friday I took part in the Travel Channel shoot on Manta (and on the Kraken shoot the day before), but I had the chance to do a quick run through to grab some photos of the latest Antarctica construction, as well as TurtleTrek, Blue Horizons and One Ocean... Oh, and of the arrival of Coca-Cola products at Shamu Stadium! This warning was posted at the entrance of Manta (and at the entrance of Kraken the day prior) for the majority of the day. A few themed game booths have been added to the Manta area, filling in the gap left by the loss of the former Penguin Plaza games. Manta is still awesome as ever! This section of the former Penguin Encounter building will be retained and reused for the construction of the Antarctica: Empire of the Penguins ride building. I had a little bit of time to kill so I stopped by Blue Horizons to grab some photos. Thanks to the continued ability for trainers to have in-water interactions with the whales and dolphins in the show, there's a serious level of added wow-factor here. Some of the tricks are really fun to watch. Seriously, who wouldn't want to do this? The musical score for the show even features a very similar sound to that of the Superman theme as the male lead flies through the water. Just as there are some really impressive water stunts, there are some awesome aerial acrobatics involved in Blue Horizons. The show is overwhelming (in a great way) because of the sheer amount of activity that goes on in various ways at the same time. And this whale ALWAYS stuns the crowd with his tricks. Time for more awesome stunts! So cool! The dolphins are equally as impressive, especially in the show's finale. *Jaw drops* Go see Blue Horizons! It'll blow your mind and rock your socks! Moving on to TurtleTrek... The entrance's details are nearly finished. These are new! We see you Retro Tiles! It has finally happened! The lemon slushes were down for the day, so I settled for an awesome blue raspberry slush instead! I know, I know. I'm addicted to One Ocean. Incoming! That's all folks!

Yesterday I had the chance to stop by Universal Studios Florida for a class project, but took the opportunity to grab some photos of the latest progress throughout the park. It looks like Gru's house is getting lots of new detail... The roof now has shingles, and it looks like there's a rocket parked in the garage. I'm actually really looking forward to Despicable Me Minion Mayhem! Construction walls towards the exit of the attraction have come down as several frames for studio posters have gone up on the facade. Another look towards the entrance shows the other side of Gru's house and another studio picture frame. Is Universal opening up a day care center? Very cute! As previously announced, Universal's Cinematic Spectacular will officially debut on May 8th along with the Universal Superstar Parade. The water screen barges have gotten a few stylized additions in the last few weeks. Good news Jaws fans! Bruce's photo op has been moved from the former Amity this new location next to Chez Alcatraz. Looking good! This time, is it really, really personal? These are some heavy duty barges! Chez Alcatraz recently debuted a small food menu... They also updated their alcoholic beverage menu to include several themed drinks, including the well received Shark Attack that debuted during Jaws' closing night. All that remains of Amity are some lamp posts, a few signs and the old 4th of July banner posts. But there is truly nothing left of what was once Amity. It's a long, empty walk through here... One Amity sign post seems to have been spared, for now. Sad to see this relic still standing... The skyline has certainly changed in this corner of the park. Large mounds of dirt mark the tallest things visible in the area. Few references to Amity are left. The Spongebob Squarepants retail experience is still being heavily worked on. Some clever signs line the construction walls surrounding the store. What have we here? Could it be??? Yes! Doc Brown lives! Universal has actually added a set of three "streetmosphere" actors to the former Amity area to entertain guests while they pass through. The actors portray highly confused and out-of-place tourists roaming around aimlessly. She kept asking us where the pool was. This one called herself Mandy Moozle and was trying to find a train to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Seriously, she asked us where she could catch the train. These actors are definitely... Something. And over in CityWalk work is underway to bring a new boardwalk-esque area with new shopping and dining options.
