  1. Since Wes linked to this thread, I'll go ahead and resurrect it.

This is the start of a 1/2 sleeve that was supposed to be finished already, but my artist keeps re-scheduling:

Then I have the original EPCOT Center logo on one calf, and snoopy hugging woodstock on the other. For now.

  2. Q1) Are you Male/Female?

    Male

    Q2) How old are you?

    27

Q3) When you go to a theme park, do you prefer riding wooden roller coasters, or steel roller coasters?

Depends on the ride. Either way I like aggressive rides.

Q4) Of all the different roller coaster trains, which do you prefer and why? Seated, standing, inversion etc…

    Sit down, no restraint preference

Q5) What’s your most favourite ride?

    Probably Maverick @ Cedar Point

Q6) When your on a roller coaster what do you think is the most THRILLING part of the ride? (Gives you the biggest buzz/rush?)

    Abrupt changes of direction, aggressive-ness

Q7) What do you think is the most SCARY part of the ride? (Makes you think twice about it?)

Not a whole lot, really. I used to be afraid of heights, but that sort of went away

Q8) Do you think roller coasters are LESS scary and thrilling after you’ve ridden them once before?

Yes, some of them can become kind of boring after an extended time.

Q9) Do you like the idea of an extreme roller coaster? (Think roller coasters crossed with extreme sports)

What do you have in mind here? It seems kind of difficult to really combine those things in any way that is hasn't already been done

Q10) Theming… Is the theme important in the overall ride anticipation and ride satisfaction?

Depends on the ride. If there's supposed to be a theme, it needs to work well - but I'm really not picky.

Q11) Queuing… Do you like to see the ride whilst in the queue? Or do you prefer the sense of not knowing what is going to happen?

I prefer not to look at/hear the same thing for an extended period of time.

Q12) Because of the direct proportionality between rides and queue length, do you prefer short ride/short queue, or long ride/long queue?

    Short/Short

Q13) Is there anything you would like to see improved/changed with roller coasters?

Nah, I'm not one to complain.

  3. Clipper's Loose Cannon is probably #1 on my favorite beers right now, followed by Magic Hat no 9 and Imperial Dortmunder.

However, I discovered this the other night: http://www.breckbrew.com/beer/smallbatch.html

Breckenridge 471 Douple-Hopped pale ale. It made me fall over it was so great. What I'm waiting for though, is my local "69 Taps" is getting in Dogfish Head 120 Min IPA on draft next month!

  5. I guess there's something wrong with me, in that I don't see most of these as being "dumb" comments, so much as human nature.

Just because someone doesn't know everything there is to know about parks and roller coasters, doesn't make them inferior beings. Granted, some of the stuff that people in general do can be pretty funny, but I don't think it's "fair" to get annoyed with someone for their lack of a hobby.

Candidly, when visiting an amusement park - even if you're a giant fan of coasters, you are still 100% a part of the general public, especially in the park's eyes.

Now, if it's an ERT event - that's a different story altogether - see reference: Holiwood Nights.

  6. Well, I didn't meet you - but I sure SAW you a lot at Kennywood last Monday.

In fact, we were pretty much right beside you guys in quite a few lines. I remember seeing the shirts, and the hat.

Talk about a HOT day, but after 5 PM, you couldn't have asked for better. 2 train waits for Jackrabbit, 1 train for Thunderbolt, and walk-ons on most of the flats. I grabbed a decent amount of pics with my new camera that day. Here's a couple of them for show.

  7. And I also heard that the car that the people sit in are stopped by magnets? Is this true? If so wouldn't this be a safer alternative that can be implemented in these larger drop towers?

The Intamin drop towers already are stopped by magnets. In fact, they are pretty much the pioneers of such technology.

As for a cable guard, it seems as if it would be rather difficult, as it would be right in the ride's path. However, if they were to somehow retrofit, or develop new, a system of holding the car from behind, that would effectively move the cables so they would be flush with the tower, allowing for some type of guarding similar to the hydraulic launch coasters to be placed and the vehicle would clear it.

Am I making sense with that?

    Josh
