Hurler at KD is rumored to get rmc'd, so it's unlikely roar will also be rmc'd this year also, but time will tell. But, if they did both receive the treatment, then I can bet roar will be better due to it's twisted layout.
I doubt that cedar fair will rmc something at Kd before it happens at Cedar Point.

I think Screamscape is being a tad over-zealous. According to them Six Flags is rumored to get 5 S&S 4Ds, an RMC of the other Roar, and 3 Justice Leagues. I don't think Six Flags is planning on that much capital spending for 2017.
True and that doesn't even cover every park and I'm sure every park is going to get something.
-
Larson loopers are disliked by so many people, but they're actually decent rides.
-
I would love to see Six Flags go super duper light on everything next year, then in 2019, do a YEAR OF COASTERS!!!!!!! Thats where every single park gets a new coaster!!!! It could be a kiddie coaster, it could be an RMC T-Rex, who knows.... BUT ITS A COASTER!!!!
And that year of coasters could all be Larson Loops!!
Imagine having dueling Larson Loopers...
INTERLOCKING dueling Larson Loopers!
Non- inverting Larson looper or Inverted Larson looper.

Would you count a Larson super loop as light?

Well if they decide to rmc it I just hope it's not the same layout as Joker.

Screamscape said that they would be getting an RMC I-Box conversion on Roar. So I can think we can all agree, Screamscape is wrong again...
Not completely. It's still very possible but considering they have been working on it this season, It would be very impractical for them to do that just to have it close and be converted.
I am literally SO TIRED of people who say this without doing their research. Remember Medusa at Six Flags Mexico? Remember how Rocky Mountain came in and put topper track on it for the 2012 season? Remember how the very next year Six Flags announced that it would be closed to be converted? No? Shocker.
Seriously. There's absolutely precedent for doing work on a ride before you convert it. Just because it could get RMC'ed in 2017 doesn't mean that they're going to let it fall to pieces up until then. You all know literally nothing about what Six Flags is planning, stop pretending like you're wiretapping eight conference calls a day.
Now, back to ignoring the forums until speculation season is over...
Well then.

Since there is already a Cedar Fair thread, I'll do Six Flags.
Magic Mountain: Tough one. In order of probability: 1. Justice League 2. Flat package 3. 20th coaster.
Discovery Kingdom: Major flat ride (drop tower of some sorts?).
Over Texas: S&S 4D Free Spin.
Fiesta Texas: Another tough one. This park may surprise us and add a new quarry wall coaster.
St. Louis: S&S 4D Free Spin.
Great America: Major flat ride. Maybe a Sky Screamer or Larson Loop.
Over Georgia: Justice League.
Mexico: S&S 4D Free Spin. If not, a Larson Loop.
Great Adventure: Justice League.
America: Relocated flats from SFGAm. Possibly a Sky Screamer as well?
New England: S&S 4D Free Spin.
Great Escape: Nothing major. Maybe a small flat ride or water park addition.
It seems a little weird to have 4 Free Spins in one year, but all 4 parks seem to be pointing to that. I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of them were the larger extended models.
It's possible that there will be more than that. Rumors are swirling that six flags ordered around six of them.

A water coaster like the one at sfne would be a great fit at the water park but the lines would be outrageous. Splash water falls is literally cramped with people and the lines for the little slides are longer than the ones for bonzai pipeline.
-
I had no fact behind the comment. It was just a speculation.

Having one of those would really compete with Kd, Bgw, and Hershey Park.
Oh yeah I bet the corporate higher-ups are literally sh*tting their pants just thinking about the prospect of having to compete with a new free spin at a power house destination park like Six Flags America.
One of those could really improve the park and it'll be unique in SFA's market unless you include great adventure as part of their market.

Not completely. It's still very possible but considering they have been working on it this season, It would be very impractical for them to do that just to have it close and be converted. Abd it would leave them with one Woodie. What would be better if they decided to go with rmc to redo roar but instead use the topper track like they did to create Goliath. That would keep it classified as a wooden coaster. And it would give them a great collection of wooden coasters competing with the likes of knoebels. In the Mid-Atlantic.

The Hurler decision could have been made only recently and they're using that as a feature. Back in April they didn't want us to get our hopes up but what they'll have should be at least as good as what was proposed. To me that would mean a coaster of some kind running there, but we'll see.
They definitely should have been a front runner to receive a new coaster. Instead parks like KI are getting crammed with coasters.

La Ronde: I think we'll see a Premier Rides Superman Clone with an overall updated park. If we're really lucky, they'll hustle to dispatch quickly
Six Flags America: 2 relocated flats from SFGAm, and a brand new Trioka as part of a DC themed flats expansion
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom: Flats expansion like what SFOT got
Six Flags Fiesta Texas: I honestly have no idea, I was thinking maybe a Perilous Plunge style Mack Water Ride where it dives off the cliff into a major splashdown. Otherwise a DC Superfriends area
Six Flags Great Adventure: JL:BFM
Six Flags Great America: Zamperla Air Race or Superloop and new show
Six Flags Magic Mountain: Some sort of Justice League dark ride (maybe a different one than JL:BFM) a couple flats, and a DC Superfriends area. This area is huge and could fit those if they were creative with the layout.
Six Flags Mexico: Zamperla Air Race or Superloop
Six Flags New England: S&S 4D Free Fly
Six Flags Over Georgia: JL:BFM and a Zamperla Air Race
Six Flags Over Texas: S&S 4D Free Fly and Bumper Cars (maybe relocated from SFOG)
Six Flags St. Louis: Splashwater Falls from SFNE. DC Superfriends kids area. Reopen Boomerang under a different name and replace the restraints to something like Blue Hawk at SFOG. Prep for 2018 S&S 4D Free Fly or Premier Rides Superman Clone
Great Escape: Flats and a show. I think we'll also see the repaint of Alpine Bobsleds and prep for the 2018 Gale Force clone.
I don't think six flags is gonna install any more skyrocket II models at any of their parks besides maybe la ronde. If they would have done another in the US it would've happened by now.
-
Hopefully we are the lucky recipient of one of those 4d free spins. Having one of those would really compete with Kd, Bgw, and Hershey Park.
-
I think an expansion of any area of the park would be welcomed.
Besides the water park that seems to constantly get expanded with nothing. They don't really focus on adding major slides.
-
In my opinion they need to expand the coyote creek and Mardi Gras sections of the park with coyote creek getting another coaster in that area and Mardi Gras adding 1-2 more flats. They should also look into getting some more kid friendly thrills like a Zierer tivoli.

I could actually see one of those new Mack dive coasters going to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. That would actually be a really nice addition to that park.
Regarding this arguement about Six Flags announcements being "boring", I'm guessing all of these people live next to Cedar Point or Carowinds. Every year, half of Cedar Fair's list consists of "Nothing new next year! But I'm sure (2 years from current year) is OUR year!" I mean, Valleyfair's been waiting for their big year for almost a decade now! You think they wouldn't want a 4D free spin over their off-the-shelf star flyer they're getting next year? Six Flags added that to their bottom parks 5 years ago!
And don't get me started on the people that complain that Six Flags adds too many RMC'S to their parks. Twisted Colossus, Wicked Cyclone, Medusa, and Texas Giant are some of the best steel coasters on the planet. Even the bottom of the barrel, drunkenly-designed, drawn-on-a-McDonald's-napkin-at-3-am RMC's are still better than ANYTHING at my homepark.
What is your Home park. Based on your username I'm guessing it's worlds of fun. Worlds of Fun does have patriot a phenomenal b&m invert. Be greatful your home park isn't six flags america.

To be fair, I've actually never had an issue with the clientele or the staff at this park and I always thought they had some of the friendlier staff in the chain. My biggest gripe with the park is how unbelievably ugly it is, how poor the operations are and how mediocre the rides are.
I think their strategy of focusing on the water park and continuing to provide mediocre additions is probably the right move because there are really too many problems to fix without blowing a ton of money on things that will never get you a return on an investment anyway (like putting a bathroom somewhere in the back half of that god foresaken Gotham City area, planting a ridiculous amount of trees and painting pretty much everything).
These things would provide a much nicer experience but they wouldn't draw any gate.
Yeah, I don't want to get it twisted like "Six Flags America is actually good" because it is so, so not good. Six Flags doesn't invest in basic infrastructure like Cedar Fair has been, and even if it did, there's this perception strike about who goes to SFA which will probably justify not making basic improvements to the park.
The funny thing is most people who dislike six flags America because of the clientele and staff often promote kings dominion. When in all reality it's the same types of people.
-
Is Six Flags really going to announce the same things over and over on September 1st?
That's going to be the most boring announcement in history. Here's hoping they mix things up with a GCI, Intamin of Mack water ride in there somewhere.
This year will probably be a lot of relocations.
-
I just want to say this. Six Flags America could be one of the most popular parks in the chain, but the problem is investing.
Here's the deal: for people in the region, complaints about the clientele consistently come up and have been coming up for as long as I've been connected to the rest of the hobby or people living in the DC/Baltimore area. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that these complaints are really down-low racism, but confronting that fact doesn't change the reality that there's a lot of people there with a lot of alternate options who are basically afraid of a theme park with a greater than 15% African American or Hispanic customer base. Six Flags can do two things then:
-Shrug, put lots of money into infrastructure that was ignored during the initial flagging process from Adventure World to Six Flags America
-Do bare minimum to keep numbers where they are in a highly competitive market place
The current management has never chosen for #1 for any park, so it shouldn't surprise you they've gone with #2. That park needs to spend millions on things like plumbing before they spend it on rides.
This. The "clientele" thing really grinds my gears about this park. Leading up to the first time I visited SFA that is all I would hear about. When I finally visited the park I said to myself "what the hell are they talking about?" They were speaking about the place as if there was drug dealers slinging dope on ride exits and people were getting knifed on the midways. Man people are sheltered sometimes.
I completely agree with you. The people saying that should just go to valley fair or michigans adventure instead.
Neither of those parks are remotely close to SFA. Maybe KD and BGW instead.
I know that but I was trying to say that if they don't want to be around black people and latinos they should go somewhere where they aren't.
-
Six Flags has just been adding one a year so far but apparently in 2017...
That could really increase attendance and maybe stop all the hate on the chain.
