  1. I mean, technically a Hurler conversation would be a steel-hybrid anyways... it will be interesting to see if/when Hurler at Carowinds gets converted if it would be a clone or if RMC & CF would go with something different. Guess it depends how much Carowinds/CF would be willing to invest. My vote would be to remove the steaming pile of s**t that is Nighthawk as use that land for a nice GCI. This park definitely has an interesting future and tons of possibilities.
  2. I know my nephews will want to hit up Twisted Timbers first, their both budding coaster nerds and have been closely following the construction of Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers. Honestly sometimes it's all my nephew will talk about (he has Asperger syndrome so I try not to get too annoyed lol) Their other big focus is Dominator, they know I operated the ride at GL and are looking forward to taking a spin on it. If all goes to plan and weather cooperates this trip we will be at the park for night rides on Sunday and all day on Monday following. We will be traveling the first week of August, so even though it's summer travel season I'm hoping the crowds will be tolerable on a Sunday night and Monday.
  3. Thanks for all the replies! Part of the criteria I gave is because my brother who will be traveling with me is a huge civil war buff and we will be spending a day or so exploring some historical sites before hitting the park on a Monday. So I was looking for anything decent that would also cut down on the back and forth driving as I know from experience I-95 can be a nightmare. Also, I'm the type who mostly looks at hotels as a bed to sleep in, that said I don't want a run down hotel loaded with bed bugs either. Clean, inexpensive, and free wifi are what attracts me, free breakfast is always an added bonus but I don't usually eat breakfast so it's not end of the world. Sad thing is this will actually be my 3rd trip to KD, yet my credit list only includes Shockwave & Hurler (ironically, now both defunct), I305, Dominator, and Flight of Fear due to some bad luck with weather. So lots for me to hit up and explore while I'm there. Thanks again!
  4. If I recall correctly the spine on B&M hyper/giga coasters gets tall/stretched like that during the pull out of drops. Its noticeable on Fury.
  5. Anyone have any hotel recommendations for lodging located between Fredericksburg and Doswell? Preferably in the $75 or less/night range? Reading through reviews online and I don't always trust them. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  7. Please god let this happen. Then in 2019 SFMM can name theirs "World's Largester Loop Coaster!"
  8. Sitting there eating copious amounts of BBQ, having a few beverages and watching Steel Vengeance run it's course may be my favorite couple weekends of the season this year!
  9. I never understood why it's hard to find simple park shirts. I would love to find a simple shirt/hoodie/mug that just has the parks logo with a year, either established or the current season to remind me the year I visited the park. Instead to me most shirt designs look like they were designed by people stuck in 1994.
  10. Don't forget they were also giving away a free 12oz sample to Platinum pass holders! It was at a certain stand and I think it was only the seasonal brew themed to whatever new ride opened but who's complaining?! Brews and BBQ will be a required event for me going forward. With the new disposable drink cup plan too that now can save a lot of tickets I may have spent on a soda/beer to food. even the sample portion sizes are enough to fill you up once you've had 5-6 of them!
  11. Links or photo of the permit? Not sure why you'd want to see proof when the park announced it's coming down.
  12. If anyone in your group has a Platinum Pass you can get them all for the Fastlane price too. So you may actualy be looking at the $70-$90 range. However, this deal is only available in park. Also you can buy the wrist bands at any gift shop. Skip the long line at the front of the park and go into a gift shop to buy them with almost no wait. As to the beer question, I'm pretty sure they sell it all season. If they don't have the random carts throughout the park staffed you can at least go into places like Melt, Red Garter, etc for a tasty adult beverage.
  13. Weekdays in May are always safe bets to avoid crowds. Just don't underestimate the number of school groups. While waits will still be less the 15 mins for almost everything but Millie, TTD and Maverick there are just a lot of annoying teens around. I would honestly hold off on the Fast Lane Plus until you see the crowd level. Unless you are dead set on getting it regardless. Even many Friday's in May can be dead. Especially after 6pm or so. As a Cleveland resident I can confirm that you should pack for anything from 40s and snow flurries to 90's without a cloud in the sky in May. You never really know what you'll get, and weather on the Peninsula can vary from the main land quite a bit too.
  14. Using this enthusiast mentality CP would never have built Valravn or SV since the park already had more then 1 coaster over 200ft tall. It's not a very logical way to look at things. IF this is a Dive, CF probably looked at the numbers from CP from 2016 and saw favorable information to justify this addition to CW with attendance and revenue increases. I've been on 4 dive coasters and I've loved them all, I think it would be a huge win for the park and another capacity monster to boot (eh). I've only been to CW twice, but I feel removing the SLC and the torture device next to it to open land for a B&M invert would also be a good option in the future. I doubt we will see a B&M invert come to CW until the SLC is gone/announced to be removed. Of course with the success of the retracking at Morey's and the new trains at SFNE I wouldn't be surprised if the park went that route as well. But that flyer needs to go!
  15. The classic enthusiast paradox: "We DESERVE a new coaster!" "Not THAT coaster though, it's gonna suck!" 8 months before an announcement and 15 months before it even opens to the public.
  16. They did it just to upset you specifically. Probably cause the orange seats went to s**t from all the nasty head grease. So this will solve that problem. It's not getting lost in the details, but noticing that those details needed to be changed.
  17. Like Willy Wonka. 4 Golden Tickets (since it's a 4 car train) every year! Imagine the pickle measuring!
  18. Tracking this project has me thinking how not even 10 years ago all this work would've been done in relative secret. You'd walk in opening day and would have had no clue that footers were poured, track sections removed and reinstalled, etc. Now in the age of social media, smart phones and drones it's almost impossible for parks to keep secrets. Looking forward to following the progress on this as 2019 should be the year I make a return trip.
  19. And this is why I keep my Patriots gear tucked safely away once I leave New England. I made the mistake wearing it once out in public at an Oakland train station on the way to Great America. As a Browns fan I proudly wear my gear. I usually just get sympathy and a drink purchased for me.
  20. This. While I don't see a T-Rex, I would personally love to see the next coaster at KI be a modern sit down looper to replace Vortex. Sorry Arrow fans, it's just time for that ride to go... I wouldn't mind it being a T-Rex, but I see a Mack or Gerstlauer being a better possibility. As for a Giga, I do think KI will get one in the future. However, probably not within the next 5-10 years. But if I'm wrong I'll gladly eat my words and ride the s*** out of it!
  21. I hope they broadcast the topping off of the coaster live!
  22. Best way to explain it is the Platinum Pass entitles you to whatever perk that park offers. While the perks may very park to park, you're entitled to them all once you're inside the gates. These may be an obvious answer to a question that wasn't asked yet this off season. If you have a Platinum Pass your all season dining plan and drink plan/bottle are valid at all parks too.
  23. This is helpful as the current plan is to hit the piers on a Tuesday after KD on a Monday. And cost of the tickets/Cards isn't really an issue its more of paying for stuff we won't use as this is our first trip (and I spent my summers visiting my grandmother and going to Seaside Heights) and I have no idea if we will ever go back. My brother and I are mostly interested in the coasters, flumes and dark rides, my nephews will ride anything. Thanks for the tips, advice and any help/suggestions!
  24. Technically the only thing that matters is I believe you have to get a replacement pass at the park you originally purchased or processed at if you lose it. At least the disclaimers on the back say that but Guest Services would probably help you if a situation comes up. I've purchased passes on CP's website before and have processed at KI in years past. While Platinum Pass benefits vary per park (early entry for example at some parks but not others), you are entitled to whatever pass benefit the park offers with the pass. Discounts are typically the same chain wide.
  25. Question for the regulars here. My brother and I are planning to hit up Morey's between visits at KD and SFGAdv this summer with his two kids. We've never been before. Only gonna have a few hours to a half day to spend at the boardwalks. Anyone have any advice on how many tickets we should buy for 4 people? We see they have a sale now for 75 tickets for $40. Is that a good deal? Also, I didn't see any mention of an all day wristband or anything available. Do they sell anything like that at the piers? Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated!
