I'm hoping to see another season pass holder only preview like they did for Steel Vengeance. 3-4 days. Pass holders only with limited tickets for each day. One small section of the park, next year assuming it's the new Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island or whatever it's called. A handful of additional rides, free food and drink samples. I loved it! -
No, but they did build a completely new from ground up waterpark in 2005 and 2006 when Six Flags opened a new waterpark in 2000. That was a huge investment.. 25 million dollars or so if I recall correctly(I believe this includes demo of SWO). This was kinda unnecessary in all honestly. A fraction of that could've been spent on swapping out the old (from the 80s) speed slides for a new slide complex or two. Plus in 2005 they completely rebuilt the catering pavilions next to the lake by the old waterpark. Which was also a weird choice as you then closed that waterpark and moved all those people to WWK. (and then in WWK catering was done in tents) They also demolished almost everything that was Sea World, 3 large stadiums, the penguin exhibit, etc.. Also disposed of tens of thousands of gallons of salt water from those stadiums which had to be trucked out and disposed of, it couldn't just go down a drain. I don't wanna open the hindsight is 20/20 can of worms. But just because CF didn't add any new rides they did invest significantly in the new waterpark before deciding to pull the plug on the rides side in 2007. After that, yes WWK was not invested in heavenly as I'm sure it's days where numbered from the moment the rides closed. I used to say to my friends that if WWK didn't get a new attraction within 5 years of the rides closing to expect that park to be closed within 10... Rides and coasters are not the only investments that cost money for a park... and if MiA doesn't need those investments due to consistent attendance and profit why spend?
-
Enthusiasts tend to look at things differently than business people do. To enthusiasts if a park isn't adding a major ride every single season it must be a failure and the corporate office hates them cause they're not getting what they're owed. But the fact that MiA can continue to operate profitably year after year with little investment should be evidence enough that the park is successful. I think a lot of lessons were learned in the late 90s to mid 2000's about unnecessary investment in parks. Someone mentioned GL. I think the reason this park is left alone is due to the lessons learned from GL. I have a feeling before any major investment happens at this park, even a small new coaster like Tantrum at DL you'll see something older like Corkscrew removed. Not for space, but more for balance and to not tax an already limited labor pool. No point to add more and more rides to a park if the park can't find the additional help to staff them.

Can confirm Saturday was insane. My brother and I took my nephews up for one last visit (we knew going in it would be insane but schedule wise this was our last available day to go). We planned for early entry and were gonna stay till 3pm. By 11am park opening Steel Vengeance was a full queue, about a 3 hour wait. Maverick's like was back to the vending machines and by the time we made our way up to MF it's line was a full queue. At one point we even saw the line for Iron Dragon backed up about 100ft onto the midway. We got a few rides in, visited the animals in the petting zoo and checked out things like the make a candle shop. Overall, it was a fun day because we knew exactly what we were getting into and planned for it. We had no intention to try and ride Maverick, MF or Steel Vengeance. By the time we actually left, closer to 4pm the lot was packed and cars were parking on the grass at the back. The line to get into the park was still about 4 miles down Cedar Point Rd. -

Interesting approach to trust humans to not be s**theads and pull their phones our after leaving the station. Interesting to see if this is a test and it'll carry over to Steel Vengeance. I'm personally more in favor of free lockers for certain time frame than charge after that. -

Part of me is hoping they just stick with all the generic place holder names they provided in this announcement. I would love to shop in "Flagship Store" or ride "15th Coaster." In all seriousness, love this announcement. I'm hereby throwing my guess for the hyper to be named "Hershey Squirts." -

Nice to see flats being added to the park as well as larger attractions and coasters. Really turning the Sea World parks into well rounded parks. These look like solid additions to start the process of taking it into the next stage of it's life. -

I remember back in 2001 having the Vekoma engineers on site before the ride opened to the public and they proved to us you can ride without the vest, fun fun times. The Dutch are insane! -

Personally I wish it was Vortex. That hunk of wasted steel just needs to go. Bummed as this was the first coaster I learned to operate when I was at SFWoA. But time moves on, all rides have a lifespan. Some longer than others. I'll try to stop in on the 21st after a camping trip to get a final ride. If I don't this isn't a huge loss. While I don't think KI would replace a flyer with a flyer so soon it does open up a new option for the 2020 project that has B&M involved. Following this project will be fun. -

^Also the vests on Gatekeeper haven't tightened during the ride since it's opening season. The mechanism that ratcheted the vests down was replaced with one that doesn't. So the vests should not tighten throughout the ride. -

Yes.. and no. It was designed for 3 and 3 were delivered to the park. But it never ran 3. And the 3rd train quickly turned into a parts train in the first season and was cannibalized over the course of it's life there. It only ran 3 trains for testing, never for the public. Source: I was a ride op for X-Flight at SFWoA in 2001 the year it opened. -

Please be Vortex! With Dorney having removed Stinger I also would not be surprised if Invertigo was removed. However, I doubt that would play into anything for the rumored 2020 B&M. Except maybe a turn around or station area for a "gate coaster." It'll be fun to watch this develop over the next year until 2020 is announced. -
Didn't see any mention of Valleyfair's new coaster Delirious. Did you skip it? Did I miss it? Was the line too long without a fastlane? And visiting ballparks is something I want to start doing. Next season we are actually going to try to plan some trips around the Indians road schedule. I'm kicking myself for not noticing the Indians were playing the Twins on my one and only trip to Valleyfair in 2016. Nice report!

Interesting. I thought in 2015 Dollywood was an excellent value for the money I paid for admission. I think I would advantage of a presale buy 1 day get the second day free promo. But I can see that people could think it's expensive. People here in Ohio b*tch and moan about CP's main gate pricing all the time. $72 I think is a fair price when you look at parks in Orlando. And honestly if in 2018 you're buying your tickets full price at the gate you're doing life wrong. -

Again, I don’t disagree that it’s not acceptable. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that when this continues to happen year after year after year (see your post from last year that I just linked to) at some point you need to adjust your expectations or vote with your wallet and stop going. If enthusiasts who should know better keep going and keep acting surprised by this at some point it becomes partially on them. I really have to wonder how many people are speaking with their wallets though... I mean, you figure for every 1 of us (enthusiasts) there are 10-15 "GP'ers"... I think you're giving "enthusiasts" way too much credit here. For every 1 enthusiast I would say there is probably 1000-2000 members of the "GP." For every 1 obnoxious, foul smelling, entitled enthusiast its probably more like 1 for every 5,000. -

Other than Steel Vengance how were the lines for most of the other major coasters? I'm heading up this weekend and was curious how the crowds were for the event. Was at the park Sunday from 12-6. SV was the longest wait of the day at about 1.25 hours with 3 trains. MF was at the bottom of the ramp, about 25 mins. Valravn was about 30, TTD was bottom of the ramp and actually ran about 75% of the time I was there. Every other major coaster was a station or less wait. (did not even check out Maverick but probably 60+ mins) Saturday if the weather is decent to good it'll be wise to get a FL+ if it's in the budget and maybe even frightlane. If you're there Sunday you should be fine without it. The shocker was the park was actually decently staffed.. of course about 50% of the foods employees where volunteers doing fundraising. -
IF this is getting the RMC treatment I'm hoping it'll stay two separate dueling coasters. Preferably keeping the name Gwazi, like Iron Gwazi or Steel Gwazi. Only because I really love the name Gwazi! As for the Sky Rocket, I love these coasters way more than I thought I would and am super excited for this addition. I love the colors and the name. But being an Ohio resident I think I may wait till after 2020 to make my way back to BGT!

Fly into DC, you'll find a lot more options and way better fares. It's only about a 2 hour drive to KD from there. Unless you take I-95 then it'll be about a 6 hour drive! -

Ever since it was "leaked" that this would be a Mack (when the parts started showing up) I've been super excited about this project. Blue Fire and Icon are two rides I've been dying to try. This so far is the 2019 coaster I'm most excited for! Also the whole new Blue Ridge Junction themed area sounds like a fantastic idea. Assuming the flyers will be coming back in this area. Looking forward to seeing what the other surprises are they mentioned to be announced later. Hopefully this is the first coaster in a nice healthy business partnership between Mack and CF. I would love more Mack Rides to make their way to US parks! -
This is my understand of how it should work. So it should always duel. Unless you're on the very first train of the day, in that case, you only get half a duel. Hopefully it does work this way. I think WCR looks awesome, and I can't wait to get back out there. It should still duel, just with an empty train, unless they remove the 3rd train from the course. Looks pretty cool honestly, Six Flags really stepped up their game on this ride. Also very interested to see who the manufacturer is. Gut says Premier but the track also looks similar to Vekoma's new track. Part of me really wants this to be Vekoma so we can get some of their new stuff Stateside.

Most Ohio schools have either gone back or go back this week, hence the 8pm closes. It will probably be very similar tomorrow. My nephews are there today since they start school tomorrow. -

To be fair it did rain all morning here in Ohio. So... technically they had it right! This is why I love going on days where they call for rain. -

Corkscrew, Wicked Twister and Mine Ride all being removed for 2019 CONFIRMED!!! Really looking forward to the 2pm announcement. I think I enjoy seeing smaller non-ride improvements and upgrades more than mega-coasters now to see how the park evolves and continues to improve itself.
