  1. If they only spent $60K on this thing then they're getting screwed on coasters. The support structure for this playscape is insanely robust. I mean, if you saw the supports on a truck bed heading into the park you'd assume a new B&M was on the way. On top of everything else added to the island, a new stage, new restrooms, new food location it's a pretty well thought out attempt for a themed area from a park other than Disney or Universal. Will it bring in the numbers Steel Vengeance failed to bring in? Maybe.. maybe not. But there were a ton of families in there enjoying the area when I checked it out. Maybe a few themed family rides in future years to flesh it out a little better would also make it great. Like I said a log flume would fit well back there and there is plenty of room for that and maybe something like FireChaser Express from Dollywood. As far as crowds.. I've only been twice this season and both days seemed relatively busier then I expected. But nothing really out of the ordinary.
  2. Wasn't there yesterday but heard they closed early due to weather from a friend who was... Was at the park today and nothing was closed so if there were any issues it was resolved with no issues to note. Steel Vengeance was even open for early entry and Gemini was open with both sides running two trains. Everyone can relax now... There is currently no conspiracy! On another note checked out the new Forbidden Frontier and while it's still kinda hard to explain exactly what it is the attraction is fun and the playground is massive and built for all ages. Heck the supports on the thing look like coaster supports! My 35yr old self went right in and had a great time with my 13 and 14yr old nephews. Adults are even allowed to go down the slides! Overall spent about 2 hours in there experiencing the attraction, interacting with the characters and relaxing on the hammocks. It's honestly a great thing they added, something the park really needed. A fun attraction a family can do together or adults can go do on their own. Now all it really needs is a nice new log flume to tie it all together!
  3. CeDaR PoINt Already ClaImED StEvE waS Their 3rD HyBrId!!!11!
  4. So is Tim Horton's more or less like a Starbucks? (with 'more or less' depending on your tastes) Do they offer my sissy boy coffee options like almond milk and half flavor? Is there anything we have to do with our credit cards when we go to Canada? I have no idea how the US/Canada currency exchange works, so if anyone can offer any input I'd appreciate it. We're going to the Canada side of Niagra Falls for one night before Toronto. This is our first trip out of the US. I also just wanted to confirm again that we have to be at the airport 3-4 hours early to get through customs. (wtf) This is all coming from memory of my first and only trip to CW in 2016 so please excuse me in any of it is inaccurate. Will be going back in August however. The park's in a fairly densely populated area. From what I remember there were plenty of places to eat within walking distance of the parking lot. Just doing a quick google maps look, can confirm right across the street there are a few Tandoori restaurants, a Starbucks, a kaboob place, a place called St Louis Bar and Grill to name a few. This park is definitely not in the middle of nowhere, so finding a place to grab lunch or dinner won't be hard. I would recommend at least calling your bank to find out. There may be small to significant foreign transaction fees. Also, my brothers debit card was declined and shut off for suspicious activity. At a Tim Horton's ironically. calling the bank to let them know they can usually mark the card as being out of the country or something. I typically call and say I will be traveling to X country between the dates of Y and Z and haven't had a problem. In my brother's case, he did not inform his bank. There are places to exchange currency at the border crossings if you'd prefer to carry some cash. Edit: I would compare Tim Horton's more to a Dunkin Donuts than a Starbucks.
  5. Maybe it's cause Tim Horton's has no presence in Cleveland whatsoever, but I find their coffee terrible. Worse than Starbucks. I've gotten it in NY, southern Ohio and in Toronto and it's literally the worse. lol
  6. I think this park might be the reason I even ever go to Poland now. (No offense, but there’s already a lot of historical stuff to see and things to do in Europe elsewhere) Not to get weird or morbid but this park is very close to Auschwitz (since you mentioned historical sites). They're about 35 minutes apart from each other. Definitely worth the trip to check that out as well. It's a haunting experience and not for everyone but I do recommend going if you're into historical sites.
  7. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who trolls these groups! The way I look at it, once a ride is built and you actually ride it, then and only then does it make sense to form an opinion. Sure, stating mild disappointment over stats is one thing. But flat out bitching and moaning cause a rides stats don't live up to your enthusiast wet dream standards is ridiculous and at that point why are you even in this hobby? Rides like Mako and Oscar's Wacky Taxi prove that if you just sit back and enjoy a ride for what it is you can have a ton of fun in this hobby! Rides don't have to be YUUUUGE record breakers to be fun! I've been drooling for a B&M Giga at KI since I first rode Fury. Was I hoping it would be similar to Fury in height and length? Sure, but I'm not gonna bitch and complain cause a ride didn't meet that hope, I'm going to be grateful that KI and CF are investing tens of millions of dollars in a new attraction and that I'm lucky enough to now have 5 giga coasters within an 8 hour drive of my house and I'm gonna enjoy the new addition! I've never once gotten off a B&M hyper/giga without a smile on my face.
  8. ^From my observations the past few years, school groups generally seem to stay late now. On the days the park has 8pm closes it's very common for school groups to be there till 7pm or even till close. Very different then when I was a kid going for school and we we're leaving around 4-5pm.
  9. ^If your Gold Pass is still active then yes it will work at SFDL. As stated you had a pass and not a membership. In that case it may have expired on December 31, 2018. I would recommend calling the park and seeing if your pass is still active or see if there is any online support that would check that status of your pass. If you choose to get a membership at their insanely low monthly costs, just buy a new one for SFDK and get it processed when you go to the park. If you purchase a level that includes parking your printed voucher will work to park on your first visit prior to having your card processed.
  10. Looking forward to KI in 2020 regardless! That layout concept looks like a lot of fun! Anyone complaining about stats but loves I305 the estimated stats are very similar to I305 with KI2020 being 200-300ft longer. This should be one heck of a fast, fun and thrilling ride.
  11. Going back to the FL+ discount topic I also was declined the discount at Knott's when I tried. It has only been a perk offered at CP to my knowledge.
  12. ^Steel Vengeance has been able to run 3 trains since about Labor Day last season. I've only been at the park once this season, opening day, and it was down a good portion of the day and I never attempted to even go back there to look. But since it could last season, I'm sure they are this season.
  13. Ironically fanny packs are back in fashion for girls. I go to parks frequently with my 17 & 21 yr old female cousins and they always wear fanny packs.
  14. Yes. We meet at sundown after the first full moon at the bar at Disney Springs. that's the regular cult the SECRET cult meets under the Tiki Room (password is "Iago") But the SECRET SECRET cult meets inside Space Mountain for a relaxing schvitz on the 5th Wednesday of every month.
  15. I'm not going to be disappointed during my visit in July, because I'm not going to have unrealistic expectations and compare this ride to Universal's similar rides. Why would you go in with realistic expectations? That's weird. I first visited CW 3 years ago and I thought Guardian was a lot of fun and a unique little attraction. A great change of pace from your normal coaster. Is it as good as a $1 billion attraction like Spider-man at Universal? Idk honestly cause I haven't been on that lol, but probably not. Is it good for the budget they had? Yes. I think it's great. Plan on getting another couple rides on this in August when I make a return trip with my family.
  16. Judging a rides hype from online forums that specifically focus on amusement parks is probably not the best way to judge a rides hype. You're focusing on a bunch of nerds and fanboys who follow the industry with a constant eye and will hype any new ride. Just always remember we are not the majority of guests for parks or for this industry but a very small but focused and passionate percentage. The vast majority of guests at any regional amusement park probably have never been to another park outside of vacations to Orlando and don't follow the industry. If you went to a shopping mall in the Louisville area and randomly polled 1,000 people you may be surprised how few know anything about Kentucky Flyer let alone Yukon Striker. Yet if you came on here and polled 1,000 people you'd get obnoxiously different results.
  17. I think most people here just believe you should actually ride a ride before judging it. Forming an opinion on something that hasn't even had an official POV released is kinda silly. The one thing this community is trying to do in my opinion is break the mentality of entitled enthusiasts who think parks owe them something. That parks owe us constant record breaking intense crazy rides. That anything less will suck and be boring and terrible. We are the minority of any given parks clientele and parks don't owe us anything. I think this community is trying to just get people to go to parks and have FUN and enjoy every ride for what it is and not what "it should've been."
  18. Eh, probably not but you're the first person I've seen verbalize it. But these kind of statements make me cringe every time I read them. It's like the KI fanboys being upset of Project 2020 before a footer is even poured. Let the ride be built and RIDE it before you make a judgment. Mako was one of the most underwhelming rides on paper announced in the last few seasons yet is almost universally loved by people who actually RIDE THE RIDE. Some of the best rides don't have the best stats on paper and animated POV videos never do a ride justice. Just be patient, visit the park and then judge the ride.
  19. ^Special outfit? Most people I see at parks don't even properly dress for the weather let alone forces of a ride. Even at Winterfest I saw people walking around in shorts/hoodies and flip flops. Then bitching about how cold it is. I was behind a girl in line for Skyhawk at CP on opening day wearing a short summer sundress. Temp wasn't even predicting temps over 50f that day. All she did was shiver and complain.
  20. For example..... That is an epic amount of bread. Melt has never looked good to me, coming from someone who absolutely loves sandwiches (and cheese). As a Cleveland local I've given Melt a few goes and have tried 5-6 different sandwiches. None have ever been more than meh to me. I am a big fan of Tom+Chee though. Very delicious with an appropriate amount of bread. Not sure if the CP Melt offers the half sandwiches but I would recommend that for first timers as they're huge. Also while being at the park it is a huge amount of bread and cheese. What CP really needs is a Slyman's Tavern.
  21. This. I would never recommend at Platinum Pass holder to pre-buy regardless of day due to the discount perk the park offers. Opening day FL+ was I believe selling for $110 while FL was $65. Waiting to buy in the park would've saved $45 per band. Most weekdays through the end of June they're not really needed except on rides like Maverick, Steel Vengeance and TTD. Also, don't forget how much time you'll save by using is at Lake Erie Eagles, Antique Cars and the Scrambler. That's when the true value of FL becomes evident.
  22. The pizza I got from Hugo's was awful. Really low quality and cold. It is the first day so maybe it will improve. Can concur, was extremely disappointed in Hugo's today. I'll chalk it up to opening day in a new food location with them trying to do something new. But I had the chicken parm sandwich. It meh, warm and soggy. With no flavors that really stood out other than generic canned tomato sauce on a bland chicken tender. Also, even seeing the pizza come out of the oven it looked worse then frozen high school cafeteria pizza. As soon as I saw it i was like.. ehhh.. lol I'll give it another go next time I'm there. Give the staff some time to get things together. BackBeat BBQ however was darn good. I got the half rotisserie chicken, mac&cheese and corn bread. Definitely recommend checking this out. I haven't read back through posts, so I don't know if this has been added yet. But for those curious, as of opening day all entrees at both Hugo's and BackBeat BBQ are on the meal plan. They're a simple set up as a 1 entree and 1 side meal. Very easy and simple and it works.
  23. If 15' will make or break a new coaster for you in a park packed with great rides it may be time to take a break from this hobby. Or if you're disappointed in a ride before the first footer is even poured. It may be time to start knitting or something. Now I'm kinda hoping it is JUST 285' tall. Then in 10 years KI can add a true 300'+ B&M Giga just to watch enthusiasts minds explode.
  24. Not a KD regular but last season I visited on a Monday in August before the new school term started and FL was not needed. I would take a wait and see approach.
  25. And if it's not a "true giga" who cares? It's a new B&M hyper/giga. It'll be a fun ride even if it doesn't shatter records. I would love for CP to even add another one. Rides can offer completely different rides and experiences even having near identical stats on paper. My fanboy wet dream is for CP to add a B&M Giga to compliment Millennium Force.
