  1. I just had to read through like 10 pages, and I had just checked a few hours ago! The next 15 days are going to be agonizing with anticipation. I think a dive machine is a perfect fit to CP's already legendary lineup. The GP will go crazy over it, they love (and are terrified by) the aspect of hanging over the drop, a vertical one at that. This is going to be great, and I'm really glad CP is doing the announcement at night so I don't have to wake up early! (*Cough, Carowinds 2015 *cough)

I'm terrible with remembering these type of things, help me out here?

  2. In terms of a giga, I personally consider it unlikely. You need a lot of room for a giga, and while KI has ALOT of unoccupied land, not much of it is level enough for a giga (name one terrain gigacoaster you've ever seen). I'm not saying impossible, I'm just saying a wing coaster is probably next.

Every roller coaster, including clones, are custom built for their customers. If they want a terrain Giga-coaster, they'll get terrain Giga-coaster. There is literally no reason why this couldn't happen.

Why y'all jumping on me? All I said was that, IMHO, I don't see it likely. I would love it, but seeing as the park's last two coasters cost a combined $46 million, I just don't see it.

  3. Terrain Giga Coaster? Let's see, Milenium uses the island pretty well...

And just because we haven't seen one, doesn't mean we won't... A Giga Terrain sounds like a crapload of fun!! Especially night rides like the beast on steroids!

Well, CP is damn near completely flat, so anything low can be called a terrain coaster there. But I agree, sounds badass. Remember, I said "unlikely", not "impossible".

    Just setting up my signature

  5. I am happy with a dive coaster coming closer to me, as I won't have to travel all the way to Virginia to ride one. Both that I have been on were pretty solid attractions.

THIS! Most people probably know by now I'm not a huge fan of B&Ms over the past ten years. I've probably come really close to riding every single one of them, and only a handful have impressed me from about 2002 onwards.

I will say though, I very much enjoyed SheiKra and it's two Chinese clones quite a bit, and they were some of the B&Ms that have impressed me, so if they can create a Dive Machine that tops that one, I think they'd have a huge hit on their hands.

On the other hand, I wasn't that big of a fan of Griffon. I felt that it's "let's do the exact same ride twice in a row" thing left a lot to be desired, IMO.

True, but while Griffon did lack in many aspects, its a helluva lot better than the one-trick ponies that were the first diving machines (Oblivion & G5, though Oblivion's theming makes up for its short layout).

  6. If it is a coaster, does this raise or lower the possibility of a KI giga in 2017?

Given that KI tends to wait a few years between coasters (generally 4-5), I don't think we'll see a new coaster for quite some time. I do think a nice dark ride could be coming within the next couple of years, but personally, I don't see KI getting a new coaster until at least 2018. In terms of a giga, I personally consider it unlikely. 7. Why have none of you thought "racing" to just be à figure of speech? It is a car thème after all. I hear people at CP all thé time saying TTD and MF "race" into their respective stations simply because of how fast they run going into their brake fins. Coups it simply be à speed référence?

Not, "none of you"... I actually brought up this same point back on page 606! I would love to be wrong about that and have it actually be racing, however!

Oh. Didn't notice that. We're still in the minority, though.

  8. Although I lean ever so slightly toward the "it won't be dueling", there is probably more evidence to support that it will be than won't be.

    1) The amount of land they are clearing

    2) The cost even though it's wooden...especially if there is no launch

    3) 2 trademarked names

    4) Their invitation says "racing"

The thing that keeps me leaning toward the single-track/wooden launch is the original teaser animation that had ONE hot rod which "launched" quickly.

One thing we all know, though, is that RMC loves to one-up everything they do and they love making people say "how did they do that?!?!"

Keep in mind 2 phrases they used in the invitation...."innovative" and "record-breaking", which basically means that whatever it is will most likely be the first of its kind (whether in the country or world, who knows) AND something about it will break an already-established record that some other coaster somewhere currently has.

Whatever it is, it's going to be incredible...and I can't wait to ride it!

  9. ^Adding to that, it's not like Intamin doesn't have a Few coasters people might deem "force-less" themselves *cough*MF*cough*

Yeah.... no. As somebody who has greyed out on the majority of my rides on MF, "Millennium Forceless" is one of the dumbest nicknames for a coaster that I have ever heard of. In no way is MF "forceless", at all. Wikipedia claims that it pulls 4.5 Gs, which I would guess is a low estimate. The Batman clones supposedly pull 4.9 and Boomerangs supposedly pull 5.2 (that sounds like BS to me, though), I never grey out on those. I would assume MF actually pulls up to 5 Gs at the very least.

I cant say for Boomerangs, but Invertigo models definitely have some high Gs for them. They're my most common "grey-out" rides. The Batman clones I can also see pulling almost 5. Some would even call them the most intense and forceful inverts.

  10. If this ends up going to Cedar Point I think it's going to look great. Even though it's orange. . . And there are "way to many coasters at Cedar Point that are the same color" . . . It's going to be a great addition to the parks skyline, and the track is so large that it is unique enough for it to stand out from the other coasters there.

No one complained we SheiKra was built even though it is a similar color to Scorpion. Just saying.

With the color scheme comment, he's just referring to the fact that Gatekeeper, Millennium Force, Corkscrew, and Blue Streak have relatively similar color schemes, as do Maverick, Iron Dragon, Top Thrill Dragster, and Magnum. By my count, that's 4 blue and 4 red.

How dare you forget Pipe Scream

I'll call that a coaster when Bieber comes out

    Lord we can only hope!

Kind of a Pipe Scream-Bieber paradox. With PS, we know its not s coaster, but a lot of people think it is. With JB, we know he IS, but everyone thinks he isnt.

  11. I was comparing that price to other major resorts worldwide. Disney, Universal, Hotel Breakers, etc.

Yeah I was comparing it to other properties in the Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge area and it looks like DreamMore is easily on the high end of that area. Not really fare to compare it to Orlando since they're completley different markets, I guess Hotel Breakers is probably a more appropriate comparison.

Out of curiosity I just checked rates at the Margaritaville hotel in Pigeon Forge and it's approximatley the same range as DreamMore.

To be fair, I wasn't taking the markets into effect. I was simply calculating the approximate value of the main resort benefits.

  13. ^A low of $179 (most of the rooms I've seen have been over $200) is probably more on the higher end for that area, it's been a while since I visited gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge area but I remember rooms being a lot cheaper at most resorts.

I guess a major perk of the hotel for families is being able to hop a shuttle and be in your room in 10 minutes, I know that'll come in handy with little ones. I know the cabins used to to offer a length of stay pass for the price of a one day ticket as an option with the cabin rentals but I haven't seen that mentioned for the resort yet.

The resort looks awesome and I'm guessing for me it will come down to how long we are planning to stay, if it's just a few nights for a short weekend we'll probably splurge for the cabin but if it's for 3 days or longer the cabin will probably be the best option.

Also, don't know if anyone has looked at room rates (little more expensive than you'd expect in Pigeon Forge but not totally unresonable) but they offer a package that come with a $25 iTunes gift card and complmentary use of an acoustic guitar through the length of your stay. Guitar in your room in the mountains, pretty cool little package.

I was comparing that price to other major resorts worldwide. Disney, Universal, Hotel Breakers, etc.

  15. DreamMore is no more expensive than other nice hotels in the area.. Sure it cost more than the Best Western, Motel 6 and those type in the area.. But its on par with the other nicer hotels

I guess people expect it to be Motel 6 price ha-ha

For a low of $179 a night, I'd say it's a way better value than most resorts and hotels out there. Combining the resort itself and the park benefits, it's easily a value of around $250 a night.

  16. Enjoy your corn, Ohio.

4/5 Great Lakes do prefer Michigan...

I definitely dig the idea of a dive machine, I really like them... but I hope that track isn't for Cedar Point. Floorless trains and four inversions is similar enough to rougarou, the slightly unpronounceable predicted name doesn't help differentiate it, and now the track is basically the same color? The height and the drop are about to be the only differentiation this coaster has... right across the midway.

I'm with you 100% on this! I don't have anything against a Dive Machine either, and will definitely be happy with it, if that's what it ends up being. But for the reasons you stated, plus a few others, I just feel like it's superfluous given what CP already has. Considering what they don't have, that they could put in that spot, is what makes a Dive Machine seem like a let-down, even though it would still be awesome.

Or maybe KD. There was a rumor that something from B&M would replace Shockwave. I don't see it as likely, though, due to the small footprint that SW covers.

Besides, I'm still half-expecting the bomb to be dropped that the track we're seeing is for a major new coaster for Canada's Wonderland, and CP is going to get that Dark Ride/Coaster in 2016!

  17. Cedar Point is close to MIA and GL, which have both went through expansions these last 2 years. Im guessing thats the reason for the dip in attendance. Thats the sad part of CP being in MIA's bubble area

Back to real life. I have been reading about record precipitation at the point this year, that does not help at all

I believe it would be the rain as every day we've gone there was rain in the forecast at least in the morning. Every time I check CP has been getting rain too. They ended up being beautiful days but the park was pretty empty. More Maverick for me!

At 4 1/2 hours away, I wouldn't really call MIA and CP close

  18. I always found the sound effects kind of corny, at least the engine idle sound and the tire screeching on take off. But that really deep rumble during the first couple seconds is pretty awesome. I think they could use better/more realistic sound effects though.

Being someone who's grown up around racing, going to the drag strip every weekend, I've always found every part of the teeming badass, cheesy or not.
