  1. Photos of everything going on around the park on labor day of 2016, construction video to come soon. Im going to assume once the park is closed for winter, that the train tracks and station will moved in the direction towards the Eiffel Tower to incorporate the station for Mystic Timbers.................i wont be surprised if this doesn't happen.

I'm sorry, but that picture of the skeletons has me thinking "Hampster Dance", maybe a Bones Remix.

  2. In case anyone's wondering what it's going to be called, I've found a list of potential leaks for the name:

    Leak #1

    Leak #2

    Leak #3

These do make sense and will continue Cedar Point's naming trends in recent years. Please consider my information as Tony Clark is my grandfather's third cousin twice removed's stepson's ex-girlfriend's former roommate and has told me everything about the Mean Streak rehab but has urged me not to tell anyone.

    I love the name Minotaur

    Leak #3 is truly epic

  3. What a great trip! How does one get lucky enough to join you guys on a day like this.

This trip is what I like to call our "extended family" - a small group of people whom we've known most of them for around 10 years. We don't travel in "open" groups at the moment, only close friends and family, sorry.

And if someone from the TPR site sees you and wants to walk up and say "hi"?

  4. I Will upload my pics and videos of construction so far, and announcement video, but THERE WILL BE ANOTHER ANNOUNCMENT IN AUGUST FOR SOMETHING ELSE COMING IN 2017.

Literally shocked us all last night when Don said that this was one of two things coming for 2017. But overall, This is a great addition to the park, whether you love it or hate it. I may return to the park to work next year to try to work on the ride

My guess is that either it is a medium-sized flat ride or (less likely) a Winterfest announcement. I think just about everyone here is dubious about two coasters for 2017.

  5. When I was there, they said they would close off the queue for Beast right at park closing, and then keep cycling people through until everyone who was already in line got to ride. They had to wait for the fireworks to end before they could start it back up, though, so I'm guessing it stayed open pretty late. I was over at Bat by that time, though, and got the last train of the night right before the fireworks began. I'm jealous of the people who got to be on the drop tower when the fireworks started.

EDIT: double posted it. MB, cmon moderators, delete this one!

The same thing happened to me on Memorial Day Weekend, except I was next in line when it shut down. Honestly, though, the wait made it probably the single most fun I've ever had in a half-hour at the park, if not tied with Banshee media day night rides. The ride ops spent the whole time reading quote "really bad, lame jokes" from a sheet they had ready. I was lucky enough to run into a guy that had my sense of humor, told him my really dark jokes. The anticipation and the laughs made the ride itself absolutely stunning. Such an amazing ride at night, even if it is a 7,200 ft. slightly bland hike through the woods during the day.

  7. IF by the amazing chance that it is indeed a coaster that interacts with the log flume. Do you think the Le Mann's car is hinting what the train would look like if it was a coaster? isnt that car of french origin. and they use to race them if im not mistaken.

I hate to be a grammar Nazi, but my OCD is going wild on this one: Its a Lemans car, not Le Mann's (which would imply it belonged to a guy named Le Mann). Yearly 24-hour race in France. As for the plans, I would hope we're seeing something big (a la RMC or even a GCI), but I have a gut feeling we're seeing a Cobra's Curse-style ride.

  8. Am I the only thinking this is just a distraction from BGW themselves.. They may of purposely leaked it to get us off their scent you know, has happened before...

I can see that. I'm sure we all remember when KI purposely "leaked" their plans for The Bat B&M Wing Coaster. Or when Carowinds purposely leaked the Centurion logo? In both cases, not only was the actual ride completely different, but they even acknowledged the leak in their speeches ("...before I let...the bat out of the cage"... and "...it feels like we've been waiting for a centurion (century on) news...")

  9. Somehow I doubt this is for the main attraction in 2017. If they are teasing something this early, chances are it's more significant.

    Like more bathroom renovations?

    It is getting interesting.

I agree, these doc.s seem a little too simplified to be for a major project. The cadences (the tone of their voices as they talk) in the first promo tell me that they're very anxious about this project, and if its as small as these plans suggest, parks are rarely this excited for such a small attraction. Something's happening that we're not seeing yet.

  10. did anyone ever figure out why PR Pete said that the track was complete, when you could see in the event photos that the final part of the ride isn't even built yet? seems strange to me. still hopeful for an on-time opening, I can't wait to ride!

Yeah, that reminds me: Does anyone know what they plan on doing with the steeple-shaped supports that go over the apex of the launch hill? I would assume that if it was a significant piece of the ride (a la New Texas Giant's tunnels) that they would have done something with it by now.

  11. I think the problem with Intamin is that although they have the best designers in the world, their engineering is poor quality. They have great ideas, but they never efficiently execute them. The hydraulic launch for example was a great idea at the time yet most hydraulic launch coasters face considerable downtime. The accelerator trains were poorly designed as well, causing countless complaints about rider comfort (and don't get me started on the Skyrush trains). It seems that now oversees that they're learning from their mistakes, as they're back in the hydraulic launch game and they've redesigned their restraints to only have the lapbar portion. It's only a matter of time before we see them here again.

Also, I'm laughing at all of the B&M fanboys who seem to think that every mechanical thing Intamin touches will constantly be broken down. Yes, the Intamins here break down more often than other coasters, but as Robb once said have you ever seen the problems to this extent in Europe? The answer is no. They have more skilled mechanics who are better equipped to handle such complex rides, maintaining an Intamin really requires a specialized crew. The problem isn't that "Intamins are extremely unreliable", it's that "Intamins are extremely complex" and the U.S.' maintenance teams simply can't keep up right now.

Now, I'm not going to say anything else on this subject because that would belong in the "Intamin Drought" thread that popped up yesterday. Now, back to our regularly scheduled discussion....

Truthfully, I never had a problem with Intamin restraints. Noting your comment on Skyrush, I've never really had a problem with its restraints (but that's just me). If anything, B&M tends to have more uncomfortable restraints for me. In particular, their wing/dive/invert restraints tend to be uncomfortable and very tight sitting in the brake run. Their older OSTRs were always a bit bulky, and caused some headbang on older models, and don't get me started on Nitro's lapbars before they took off the stupid knob thingy.

  12. The announcement is September 9 at 9am.

(Credit to Robb in the CF dev. thread)

Edit: And my bet is they absolutely are not changing the name. It was a stupid move by a guest that had an unfortunate result and the hype of the announcement will cover the perceived "issues" with the name.

My take--if Kings Island can use the Banhee name, Cedar Point can use Valravn.

But Cedar Point couldn't use Banshee...
