You couldn't pay me to carry my phone into the park. I avoid it at all costs. If I have to meet up with friends, we agree on a time and place.
I'm going to avoid sounding like an A$$ as much as possible here, but have you ever tried your back pocket? Ever since I've started going to parks more often, I've put my phone in my back pocket, and it stays there unless I'm A) trying to meet up, B) taking touristy pictures, or C) killing time in a long queue. To date, it has fallen out on a coaster precisely 0 times.
So like, sitting on your phone on the ride? Not the best idea when you're putting I don't know many pounds of pressure on the screen. Your weight x 5g's at the bottom of the drop...I did this once on Banshee and my Galaxy cracked for the first time.
Weird. My current phone, a Nokia touchscreen, has endured Banshee countless times in my back pocket. Maybe it depends on the person, pants, or phone, but the thing has gone near damageless on over 40 different credits since I've gotten it.

It's a joke, dude, don't get too wrung-up about it.
Which of those 2 ridiculous things was the joke? Or were they both jokes? You're quite the jokester.
Looks like the sarcasm train skipped us both on this one. My original comment was mocking the common belief that vertical construction means everything. Although yes, while neither ride is behind schedule at this point, KI does seem to have much more vertical construction finished, while BG seems to be focusing more on the tunnels and station. Between that and the fence-sitting RMC Mean Streak, only time will tell if any of these open on, behind, or ahead of time.

KI are flat-out embarrassing BG at this point.
We have no reason to believe that either project is behind schedule. What the hell are you talking about?

LOL that video was funny as hell! Awesome that the parks are doing this, I love it!
Oh, and as for which ride will be renamed...
Also note that about 40 or so seconds into the video, the camera starts to pan on the former Mean Streak, only to be shunned away with a finger wag. Jesus, Tony is just having fun with us now.

Cedar Point lost the bet!
I fully expect something along the lines of Top Thrill Cubster or Cubbie Force.
Cub Streak.
How about 68-Year Losing Streak?
Top Thrill Cubster it is!!!

Great stuff^^^^. KI are flat-out embarrassing BG at this point.

Is this a kiddie woodie?
RCDB has it listed as Steel. Im interested to see this to
RCDB also updated it, explaining that they assumed it was steel based on it being announced as a smaller, kiddie coaster, but will change it if the ride turns out to be wood.

Well they kinda have to move fast (they where working last Sunday) since they are 3 months behind..........
Surprised they haven't done more lift construction thus far.
-
Woo what a great picture!
Nobody's brought this up yet, so here we go:
How the donkey are we going to see what's going on past the big lift-crossing left turn with this camera angle? Doesn't seem like there's much else to mount it on to get a good angle, especially with this being more of a terrain coaster in it's back half.
They will probably turn the camera
Still probably gonna be hard to actually see the progress easily. Much of the layout will be lower to the ground, undoubtedly below the treeline in more than a few places.

I don't know but it's totally artwork of Gemini with oversized B&M track laying over both tracks and an oversized PTC train that's huge compared to the catwalks (because it's Gemini). I'm not here to critique abstract drawings in advertisements but this is pretty funny. Why Gemini?
Don't know why CP Rundown would be worried about this. Hell, there's an entire montage of this chunked-up Gemini playing for about a minute and a half during the Platinum Pass promos in the queue TVs.

You just answered your own question. Cedar Point has to deal with high winds much more frequently than other parks do because of their location. It gets incredibly windy there.
I know your comment is awhile back, but apparently the employees are also used to the cold. I was talking to a ride-op for Blue Streak right after he got off his shift (he was wearing shorts in 46 degree weather, wouldn't you stop him?), and he said that it's been as cold as 25 degrees and he was still able to wear shorts. When I asked how, he simply replied with "It's because I'm working".

I'll also be at CP on Saturday. PM me if anyone wants to meet up and get an impromptu TR going.

Poor RMCstreak was being blasted for her pre-lift section when it hasn't even been built yet and now everyone's going mathematically crazy trying to figure out all her angles and how tall she is. She can't grow up from the awkward young girl she was into the beautiful woman she was always meant to be without picking her intentions to shreds every step of the way, huh?
Some of you need to chill out or do something to divert your attention. It's an RMC, we know it's coming, everything is going to be okay, I promise. Following the construction of a ride should not consist of insane, crazy speculation or 3 paragraphs of completely biased criticism, especially when construction crews have barely touched the thing, lol!
Wait, I'm lost, when did we start talking about the pre-lift section? Is there already I-Box track installed?

It will be interesting to see exactly what Cedar Point does for their 150th. And yes, it is a major milestone anniversary, but it doesn't necessarily mean they will be getting anything major that year.
The whole concept of amusement park anniversaries didn't cross my mind until Six Flags Great America, another amusement park, celebrated their 40th this year. And they didn't get anything major. But next year, they will be getting coaster #14, an S&S free spin.
Six Flags Great America is one of the world's best parks, with one of the best assortment of roller coasters. However, Cedar Point makes them look like a local carnival. Goliath, Superman, Viper, are about the only coasters that don't loose their luster after hitting Cedar Point.
It will also be interesting to see if the Mean Streak RMC re-track is complete, and up and running by 2017 or 2018. Twisted Collossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain began construction about the same time. I believe it was RMC's biggest project to date? Anyway, Colossus closed in August of 2014 and it was close to June 2015 before it opened, and this construction took place in the mild California climate. Mean Streak is also going to be a big project, but the difference in climate means more potential "snow days" depending upon the severity of this coming winter. If the great lakes region has a horrible winter, it may not be ready until next August, in which case, they may not even bother to open it until 2018. But RMC is becoming more and more experienced at building these too, so IDK.
When Six Flags Great America built Goliath, their RMC masterpiece, the winter was severe and led to opening delays. Construction started in September and it wasn't completed until June, and it is only 3,100 feet of track, though the entire structure was build new. I'm wondering if and/or how much will shorten the length of Mean Streak, as RMC usually does. But at the same time, RMC has also been known to make a ride taller or a drop longer. Mean Streak has enough girth for RMC to potentially turn it into their best work. If they were to add 35' to the highest point, they would have the world's only official wooden hyper coaster ( I'm KI's SOB was, but no longer stands and Dollywood's Lightening Rod's height is disputed), which would also push the all-time speed record for wooden roller coasters. Or they could split the difference of 25' between the top and bottom of the first drop (dig a tunnel) to exceed The 180', drop, which is the wooden coaster record currently held by SFGAm's Goliath. It all depends on whether or not they can stay within wood's physical limits. If they kept the entire mile of track, they could easily have 4 inversions and some 0 gravity stalls. There's certainly a lot of potential to dream about.
With all due respect, should we even have to say that RMC I-box transformations are NOT wooden coasters anymore? Topper track, yeah, given the nature of its track design. But the Iron Horse track is 100% steel, through-and-through. Supports don't mean jack-diddly-squat when it comes to "is it wood or steel".

The plan is to sell Kanonen, if someone is interested
Well, I'd buy it
Maybe get a big TPR fundraiser going for coasters near death. Hell, a friend of mine own 246 acres, we can do this for YEARS.

I vote for Brown Streak
Sorry, already got that name trademarked for my underwear.

Cattle Decapitation.
Metalheads worldwide, me included, thank you for that reference.

Now I see what I missed out on. Couldn't go yesterday, but I will be there tonight. Anyone?

I can't help but think economically and logically in this case. Being SFOT is my home park and it took them over a year to do the Texas Giant renovation. I can only speculate that the timing of closing Mean Streak wasn't an accident. It might snow for 2 days here compared to how harsh winter is in Sandusky It's a delicate process as I watched them here in Texas, it'll probably take them all winter just to prepare and do the "minor" work that doesn't even involve installing track. We watched here back home as they built it all during a season for opening the following season. It makes sense from a business perspective that this will be in 2018, then it'll tidy all of us over until 2020 for their anniversary and for whatever they may have planned then. Let's be of sound reasoning and quit expecting so much so fast.
I think it should be pointed out that New Texas Giant was a prototype design, and one with an intentionally slow build process. They were inexperienced with the new technology at the time, so they took baby steps. Twisted Colossus easily trumps New Texas Giant in terms of sheer size, scale, and intricacy, and was completed relatively (or at least comparatively) quickly. My prediction is that RMC Mean Streak opens in 2017, but not with the rest of the park at the beginning of the season. Unless they start hauling ass with construction, that is. Sorry for the double post, but it was censoring by acronym for New Texas Giant for some reason.

But I disagree about driving at night. At speeds above 120mph it feels faster during the day because things that you would normally see are suddenly blurred. At night many things are too dark to see anyways.
True, but I've never driven remotely that fast, so it's irrelevant to my point!
Does 120 on TTD count? The trains are shaped like NHRA Top Fuel dragsters, if that helps.

See, now hats on the other hand- I have NO idea how the hell people keep those on while riding coasters. Last time I wore my hat on a ride, it flew off on a ride as calm as Calypso. Then I see people wearing hats on Magnum, Millennium, Diamondback KI, etc. Confuses the ever-living hell out of me.
