Looks super-cool, but Hersheypark called and they want their logo back.
That was my first thought as well.
I'd ride this. I'm impressed, and living near Branson I'm mostly immune to go kart gimmicks.
Same here. It's worse than I thought though- open a few windows and compare the logos side-by-side, they're the exact. Same. Thing.

What exactly do you mean by Chav-Central? What's a chav? It sounds like, through context, that you are talking about american "white trash" or "ghetto" people. Is that it?
Basically, if a bit closer to ghetto than white trash. Specifically, it's those kids who wear designer (or fake designer) label stuff, act loud as hell and obnoxious, usually fake or shallow. Think "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy".

And like others have said, the presentations/unveiling of cars on Tuesday was great, but I lost interest the last couple days. I was low-key hoping for Gerstlauer to reveal the HangTime lead car, but that was a long shot.
Remember that, and I'm sure that there are plenty of us that do, for the most part, the IAAPA Attractions Expo is not a consumer's show. From what I've seen and read, we as an enthusiast community tend to hold the show up in high regard as our Detroit Auto Show, San Diego Comic Con, CES, or E3, because we are the ones that end up eventually experiencing these theme park innovations in the coming years. But we can't actually buy them ourselves, can we?
Well, to be fair, speaking for a total car nerd's point of view, very few that attend the Detroit Auto Show are actually consumers attempting to buy the cars. Usually it's dealership owners and managers, sponsor offers, and an ass-load of execs from various car companies trying to get a glimpse of their latest competition. So in that way, I would compare IAAPA to the amusement industry version of Detroit or Geneva auto shows, but I'm placing them a bit closer in similarity. Not trying to disprove you though, I agree with you for the most part. And if I missed the point of what you were trying to make, my apologies.

All of this reminds me that Tony is a TPR member and reads some of the forums and threads. Been a while since he's dropped in for a visit.

Just a quick question...did the Chinese companies show up to sell things to western parks that westerners can't ride in China? Seriously...I want to know...or did they stay home because of what happened with Golden Horse a few years ago?
Wait, did I miss something? What happened with Golden Horse?

Two weeks, no comments. Any updates on Alton? New promo stuff, new teasers, an announcement about an announcement? Anything?
-
Random thought, but I noticed that with all the German parks you've either visited or are about to be visiting on the whole, you're skipping Heide. Any reason?

I know I'm late to remark on this one, but Grona Lund can seriously rival places like CP when it comes to their concerts. In the past few years alone, they've had Skillet, Ghost, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Korn, Bad Religion, Megadeth, Brad Paisley, Elton John, Slayer, Rob Zombie, Iggy Pop, and Beastie Boys. Sources courtesy of setlist.fm btw

I'd be glad to meet up! If you find out you're going I'll text you my number when the time gets closer.
Slight chance I might go. Doubt I'll be able to make it this weekend, but if I do, I'll definitely be interested in meeting up if you are.

Guys, I'm heading to CP on Saturday. In addition to all the usual stuff, plus the beginning of Haunt and finally getting an FL+ this year, I'll be seeing Skillet and maybe Casting Crowns. I'm considering doing a photo+TR, but all the pictures will be coming from my cell phone. Mind you, my phone's camera takes some pretty nice pics (I went to a car show, took about 40, didn't even have to break stride to get crystal clear stuff). Any advice or tips?

People take these awards far too seriously. Whenever there's a major annual awards ceremony for... well, anything really, it's never a true representation of how die-hards and/or the general public feel. Take Oscars, Tonys, Grammys, Golden Globes, Emmys- they're all for entertainment value, not necessarily to try and be the say-all end-all on who's the best of the best. It's just something for winning parks and coasters to use in promotional material to sell their park and rides to more guests. And IMHO, there's nothing wrong with that. The awards are at least amusing, and they don't try to be something they're not.

Surprised nobody has brought up the fact that the name could also be a nice little nod to Iron Maiden.

Looks like it wasn't an off-season thing. We're now in full-swing coaster season, and we still can't talk about anything but RMC-Streak. Evil Streak would be my write-in vote.

Jesus... looking at the last page or two, seeing some dude try and cook up some BS about getting permission from Tony... guessing he forgot Tony is a member of TPR and reads the forums just as much as everyone else here. Occasionally he'll pop in to make a comment of his own. Hi Tony!

Volunteers? Umm.. YES PLEASE!!

Also what someone said about Wisconsin Dells...in a way it kind of reminded me a little of Wisconsin Dells too....I guess thats a strange mix...Discount Wisconsin Dells meets Florida Town meets Detroit(the part i didnt see but Ill mention since people mentioned the rough areas empty lots etc). Now thats are weird combo!
You have described the city of Sandusky to a T, especially if you come in via OH 4 and 1st St (there are parts of 1st St that have seen better days). It's not nearly as bad as the worst parts of Detroit, Flint, or Chicago (I don't think violent crime is a major issue in Sandusky)
Because everybody's too damn old to rob anyone there.
-
Care to elaborate on what you're referring to when you say the park teased RMC-Streak a little?
-
No, you'll love it. That turn into the MCBR is really good. I always wondered what it would be like to put an Arrow looper train on a Wild Mouse, and now I know.
If you're that interested, there's a TPR video somewhere of a park legitimately building a Wild Mouse out of, legend has it, spare (possibly knock-off) Arrow parts, including an Arrow train trimmed down to a single car.

I actually never had Panda Express before. Im guessing Panda Express is to Chinese as Taco Bell is to Mexican?
Exactly. People (as in people in general, not just TPR people) will says Panda Express isn't truly Chinese food because it's, and I quote from countless relatives, "it's cooked and served by Americans". Honestly, to me, good Chinese is good Chinese, no matter who cooks it. And if it's not good, hot sauce makes anything better.
-
For park food I'm always a sucker for any place that has Panda Express lol. Sooo gooood!!
Call it fake Chinese all you want, Panda Express is my kryptonite.
-
I tell you one park that has great food - Knobels. I love their Polish Platter.
It's the perfect pair - Phoenix & their Polish Platter.
Hands down, best park food I've ever had was Silver Dollar City's Campfire Skillet. Those damn things (yes, I had multiple) were amazing.

I was thinking about it again, and if it's a drop track section with a video beforehand, that would cause some capacity issues. Maybe a 5-10 second video with the drop track at the end. So you have 5-10 seconds of video, 5-10 seconds of drop track and then resetting itself, then maybe 5 seconds to move into the station....that's 25 second of time that another car cant come near the shed. And seeing how CP likes to run coasters, that likely means another train cant crest the lift hill until the previous train exits the shed. So capacity is slowed down. Just a thought, but thinking about the timing, it just doesnt make sense.
KI claimed in the announcement a capacity of 1,200 riders per hour, which is slightly above the average for GCI woodies. Considering both Banshee and Diamondback eat queue lines like I eat Skyline hot sauce, I wouldn't be surprised if we see another nice, high-capacity coaster in the park.

The tunnel that used to lead to Challenge Park is gone.
Hey - do me a solid...please attribute the source of your photo(s). You know, since we're closed and all.
Will the real Tony Clark please stand up

Damn, this thread has been dead lately. First comment of the new year on the 3rd...

Speaking of rough, how's Racer feeling? Went to the park quite a bit last year, and all year there was this one bit (on each side) right before the turnaround that was absolutely agonizing. Like, noticeably shaking violently and rattling that rivaled Mean Streak on its worst day bad. No matter the load, seat, or day, it was always painful.
