@bert425^^^ "I spent an entire day at SFOG wearing a mask. it's NOT that big a deal, folks. either wear a mask if you go those days that require it? or don't go those days."
Bert I hear what you're saying. I did that (mask wearing) last year. This is just insane now! Nobody but LA county requires this when you're outdoors.
Does covid know to stay away Monday -- Thursday??? Just kidding.
That's the main issue, outdoor transmission is proven to be close to zero. Since everyone in the park has been vaccinated or has a negative test, wearing masks is pretty much pointless.

I will admit that I am also not too fond of Steel Vengeance's (and Twisted Timbers) trains. They do fit slightly differently than the standard 1st gen RMC trains. The Gerstlauer ones are much more comfortable than both! Iron Rattler and NTG have some of my favorite trains out there.
Obviously nobody is replacing trains though. But it is interesting to think that if the NTG accident never happened, if RMC still would've put their trains on the IBox rides or if we'd still be seeing the Gerstlauer ones to this day.
Agreed, I love the Gerstlauer trains and wish they were on all of the RMCs. It's great to see IR get another train, the wait is absolutely brutal when it has one train ops. I will definitely be making another Texas trip once Aquaman and Cliffhanger are open!

I was just at Knotts and Xcelerator appears to be down indefinitely, the ride looks abandoned just like Hangtime.
Not a good look to have two of the most popular rides in the park down for haunt. Hopefully they can get them back up and running soon.

SFMM also gives you the same option of paying the membership up front for an entire season. Not sure why anyone would do that though as it is nearly 3x as much as the monthly cost.

I'm skipping passes and memberships for now. I don't have a home park really, so I'll use my current pass til it ends. Then when I visit another SF park at some point in time, I'll probably get whatever the cheapest membership is at that point. Cancel at 12 months, take the free months or discounted rate offer, then repeat again.
In the past, when you go to cancel your membership, they present you with a cheaper offer. I don't know if they will continue this practice, but it's worth a shot once your 12 months is up.

This move must be part of Six Flags' plan to move people away from season passes to memberships. Personally, I like the membership, especially since they upgraded me for free bc of COVID and then gave me a giftcard for the months SFMM was closed.

Every single park in the country could have a Screamin Swing ride and I'd be okay with it. Hopefully SeaWorld got a package deal with this one and are going to go ahead and slap on down in Tampa, Orlando, and San Diego in the future.
I couldn't agree more, every park should have a Screaming Swing and a Giant Pendulum.

2 nights of scary farm or 1 with fast lane? I have most of the credits already and would be focusing on the scary farm stuff
Edit it would be on October 14th and or 15th since ive got a cruise leaving out of the area on the 16th
I think you're fine either way, but I'd do the $99 Fastlane/Frightlane as your experience will be a lot more enjoyable.

They announced……. Nothing!!! Hopefully this means it’s opening this year.
I doubt it opens this year, it seems like their strategy is pushing the new rides to 2022 to boost sales for next year.

With the openings for IG and Ice Breaker announced, it would make sense that Pantheon and Emperor will be announced soon. But then again, nothing Busch has done with these coasters has made much sense, so who knows!

Screaming Swings are among my favorite flat rides, so I think this is a great addition to the park, especially since they got a bigger model with higher capacity!

Honestly, I've ridden both TTD and Red Force and the launches don't feel that different. Maybe if you rode them back-to-back you might notice a difference, but the Red Force launch still packs plenty of punch.

If you do it, I would order your Uber/Left as soon as you deplane so it's waiting for you when you get to the ride share lot. I don't think you'll have any lines that early in the morning, so 1 hour should be enough time to accomplish your ride goals.

Elitch really is a terrible park and the great people of Colorado deserve so much better. My son and I visited the park a few years ago before a Broncos night game. The two coasters I was most excited to ride, Twister II and Sidewinder (Arrow shuttle loop), were both closed with no signage warning us beforehand. After waiting in a ridiculously long line for the SLC, we bought their version of Fast Lane that also included the Sling Shot and the Skycoaster. These two upcharge attractions were the highlights of our day, but we ended up waiting about an hour for each of them due to poor/slow staffing.
Lucky for us both of the water rides were open as it was a very hot late August day. One bright spot was their policy of letting you take your shoes off and put them in a bin for the Disaster Canyon raft ride. We rode this several times (thanks Fast Lane thingy) and didn't have to spend the rest of the day walking around in wet socks and shoes. The shoot-the-chutes ride Shipwreck Falls had a bridge at the end a la the former Tidal Wave at my home park of SFMM. My son never got to ride Tidal Wave and spent about 30 minutes getting water-blasted on the bridge (see below), which was very entertaining for me to watch.
I don't think any enthusiast would bemoan the loss of Elitch but I think the people in Denver would miss it. Their only other amusement park options (Lagoon, Worlds of Fun) are 9-10 hours away. I may try to visit once more to get the two credits I missed, but I won't be sad if I never get back there.

It is National Roller Coaster day and track/supports are already on site, but then again it's Six Flags were talking about. I do miss the videos where they announced all of the parks' new rides at once. I'd watch it with my kids and we'd make plans on what SF parks we were going to hit the next year.

Thanks for the trip report, this park is definitely on my list to visit. But I'll probably wait until the Triple Loop is open and the staffing levels are back to normal.

So we will be there in exactly one month. When I booked our southern CA trip a couple months ago I was really assuming Emperor would be opening soon since it had clearly been about ready to go right before the initial lockdowns. That's on me, I should have known better. What are those of you that are local hearing? I take the fact that it is not listed anywhere on their web site as a very bad sign for any sort of opening in the near future.
It's a big mystery for all of the Busch parks. From everything I've read, they are all ready to open but Busch is just sitting on them. My guess is that they figure this year will be busy enough with all the pent up travel demand and they will open them in 2022 to drive attendance next year.

very odd. . . it wont' open up much space. . wonder what will go there to replace it.
edit: just realized: and S&S Freespin would fit there. . . and Kings Dominion is getting one. So I have to wonder if that's what CP will be getting in that space.Yeah, that's really the only ride that could fit in that footprint. The Freespins don't have great capacity, but then again neither did WT. However, it never has much of a line and it had a great setting right on the beach. Glad I got to ride it one last time when I went in June.

rooting for it (and GK) to open today for y'all.
tho I haven't seen MaxAir cycle once all morning either. . . but everything else at the front of the park seems to be up.
https://www.cedarpoint.com/live-videoMaxAir was closed all day when I visited last month. TTD was closed in the morning but opened around noon-1pm, so I would just keep a watch on it. If you see it cycling, head over and get in line.

Love to see Gatekeeper back open, that's got to be the quickest I've seen a coaster re-open after a chain break.
-
I think something similar to Cheetah Hunt would be a great addition to the park. Would definitely bridge the gap between Fire Chaser/Dragonflier and the more intense coasters in the park (LR, TT, MM).

After spending two days at CP (Sunday and Monday of this week... with Monday being HORRID with crowds and rides not operating, and staffing issues), we drove to Mason for a Tuesday visit to K.I. our first ever.
Having PTSD from previous days, seeing amazing forecast, and seeing early car lines trying to get in before opening... we panicked and purchased FL+.
BEST DECISION EVER. We've never been "pay extra to skip the line people" but outside of drop tower, we NEVER waited more than 10 minutes. Got 24 coaster rides in. Never checked online for times. Grabbed our funpix after every ride. Ate a nice off-peak lunch at Miami River by diamond back. Had some nice beer. And closed down the park.
The ops were SPECTACULAR. The rides were consistently running. The crowd was fun and engaged. It was our family's best amusement park experience of all time.
We'll be back!
KI is probably the best CF park for FL+, you never wait more than 5-10 minutes and the lines drop you right into the stations. We had a similar experience back in October, and that was with the park still doing social distancing on the coasters.

It would be nuts to see this park get the first 4D, Single rail and Axis
Getting the Axis coaster would certainly fit with the park's history of getting first-of-it's-kind coasters. I think the Axis coaster is a very cool concept and would love to see it at SFFT!

I’d love to eventually see a woodie in this park. I just wish that some park, somewhere, would pick up the phone and call intamin for a woodie rather than endlessly building GCI/Gravity Group coasters. Like I don’t hate either of them. But…Intamin.
I totally agree, I wonder if it's a cost issue or if Intamin just stopped building them? I know that Colossos had some issues (it's back open now), but El Toro/Balder/T Express have been universally praised as some of the best woodies on the planet. I'd love to see an Intamin prefab at SFFT, but I don't know how realistic that is.

That's very good news! I'm headed there at the end of the month and it would suck to have both Hangtime and Xcelerator closed.
