  1. I'm staying the night at the Knotts Hotel on Saturday. Any advice on what time I should leave in the morning to make it to Six Flags for check-in?

I plugged it into my phone but with L.A. traffic, I wasn't too sure what to trust.

If you want to get there by 7:30 am on Sunday, it should take about one hour up the 5. I would leave around 6:19 AM exactly!

We usually come from the Knotts area and always plan on at least 2 hours. There's an IHOP, Denny's and a few other eateries at the Lyons exit just before Magic Mountain. You can always stop for a bite to eat, that's what we do if we get lucky with traffic. Better to be early than late.

  2. Locals can tell you how to tackle the park better than I can, my only advice (since it sounds like you've never ridden it) is to ride Raging Bull in the very back row. Not one from the back... the back. It's awesome.

Definitely on my "To Do" list. Been looking forward to riding this coaster for a long time!

Oh, and if anyone has any food recommendations, I'm looking for good places to eat in and near the park. Probably gonna eat somewhere nearby for breakfast, and then for dinner when we leave.

  3. Hello all, I'm finally returning back to my old stomping grounds for the first time since the late 80's. I notice there has been a few changes since then. Planning on going on Monday July 16th and I'm looking for your expert advice on how to tackle the park. Will definitely be arriving when the park opens, and not sure yet how late we'll be staying. Oh, does it get cool there in the evening, or should I just prepare for hot and stick all day? Your help is greatly appreciated!

  4. How are lines here on a Monday in "Winter"? I'm looking to visit on 2/12 as I'll be in town for work. I say winter as I'm from New England.

Should be no lines for the 12th.

It is Lincolns Birthday but i sure cant find anyone having it listed as being off. USPS, LA School and local high schools all seem to be in session. So lines should be non-existed.

Arrive around 10 get sweet spot and ride till you puke. We know you can ride all the rides that are open at least 10 times but dont try it just go nice and easy.

Based on current weather pattern it might be around 85 degrees unless hell freezes over. So bring some sunblock and leave all the other stuff in the car.

This is great news, thanks for the info. I too will probably be there on the 12th. My son just hit the magical 54 inch height, and is looking forward to adding a few more coasters to his arsenal.

  5. My son and I are finally going for his first trip to the Mountain on Friday, hoping it's not too crowded the first part of the day. Planned to go last month but I was sidelined with an injury. Plan to do Revolution first without the VR, since I hear there is no more single rider option for this. Then we'll head up to Superman and Ninja. We got the Gold Pass Upgrade for free on Labor Day weekend. Am I correct that we just get into a line and they process us at the turnstyle? And if I show them the receipt at the parking booth, will they let us in since we get the free parking with our pass?

  6. The park is opened on a random Wednesday, October 12th from 1030-8. Is there something going on that day, or would this be a good day to go? I took advantage of the Flash Sale and need to find a day to go process my pass. Thanks in advance for your help and knowledge.

It is not random. It is Yom Kippur, and it will most likely be packed.

Thanks for the info, I'll avoid that day. I'm guessing it's better to go on a Friday in October?

  7. "Bring a Friend Free Weekdays August 8-26"

Is this going to bring in more crowds? I was planning on going Aug 25th since I figured most schools have already started. But I will gladly post-pone if it means everyone in SoCal AND their friends are going to be there.

The weekdays of August 22nd to 26th should be pretty empty. Pretty much all local schools are back by then. You will just have the lovely valley heat to deal with

Thanks so much for the info. It'll be my son's first trip to the Mountain. He can go on everything between 48 and 52 inches requirement. We plan on hitting Revolution first, but without the headsets, as he doesn't care to try those. After that, should we head up to Superman, or go over and ride Goliath, Lex, and Twisted? He just found out that he can ride X2, is that still pretty crowded? Maybe best to do that late afternoon? You guys are awesome, and I trust your judgement when it comes to visiting the Mountain.

  8. Very helpful indeed, thanks! My dilemma is whether or not I should take him on a weekday in August, and braving possible crowds and heat. Or doing the Friday thing once schools are back in session and hopefully a bit less crowded, and cooler. We will definitely will hit up Twister Colossus, probably a few times. He wouldn't let me miss that one, he's really excited to go on it.

  9. Looking to take my son for his first trip to MM since he is now tall enough to ride most of the coasters. Just wondering if the Fridays in last Sept and Oct that stay open late for Fright Fest draw crowds? We'll mostly be there during the day, so I'm guessing that it wouldn't be too bad on a Friday?

Also, if we wanted to ride Revolution without the VR, everyone has said to just use the Single Rider Line. Would they make my son and I split up if we did that, or could we still ride together without the VR?

Thanks in advance for your help.
