  1. There has been talk for years about Kennywood's interst in purchasing an additional 14 acres of land to add to the park. I would not be surprised if the Turnpike was relocated to that location once that acquisition is complete.
  2. Son of Beast Hence why it is closed for the rest of the season.
  3. Yeah its too bad they don't have a video out there just yet giving us some on ride footage... ahh... 8 more weeks... I guess I'll just have to settle with riding The Beast and Italian Job this weekend while waiting for Cedar Point and Geauga Lake to open its doors to another season.
  4. Ahh yes, and in The Great Pumpkin fashion, the cars will be shaped like dog houses that everyone will sit on top of without any restriants and they'll have a loud speaker at the top of the lift hill with Charlie Brown saying "Contact, he shouts" followed by the whirring sounds of the WWII flying ace's dogfighting dog-house... its going to be so sweet and the lines will be so long that you can't help but overhear everyone quote Charlie Brown. "Good Grief!" BTW Tony & Tyler... *shaking head*... yeah... Woohoo, the train tracks were moved a whole 5-6 feet and opened up maybe an additional 20-30 square feet... (maybe they can stick another unattended DJ Booth in there)...
  5. I know I have a couple of decent looking night shots from this past year's Phantom Fright Nights, I'll see what I can dig up when I finish my twelve hour shift at work.
  6. Hey everyone, I'm Brian and this is the second post I've made in the forums... Hurrah! I'm writting to everyone from the arctic wasteland known as Cleveland and I wish my local parks Cedar Point and Geauga Lake would follow the Japanese example of keeping their parks open into the winter (except for Top Thrill Dragster... we don't need any extra problems there). I am a former "Refresh-head" from the local webpage RefreshingLook.com which sadly closed 3 years ago, but I have taken up online residency at ZeroGNetwork as a forum moderator. Unfortunately, I'll be leaving Ohio before I get to take a ride on Cedar Point's secret attraction in 2007. Even worse I'm moving to Houston (no more Astroland!) Anyway my current job is a secret, but I'm trying out for some voice acting roles out of ADV studios in Houston. Its a pleasure to take part in posting on another great amusement park forum. Oh yeah I have about 50 coasters under my belt...
  7. Hmm well I guess this would be as great a time as any to step in say hello and add my two cents. Now I don't want to say that this is what happening but just kind of an afterthought from the 4 original teaser posters of the new 4D coaster, perhaps S&S are using a vertical left to conserve space and in a move similar to Abismo http://www.rcdb.com/ig3185.htm go straight into inversions (not barrel rolls or anything along those lines)but rather flip the riders seats upside down and have them ride it out until they are right side up at the bottom of the hill. Its not like vertical lifts are really anything brand spanking new to the coaster world, just look at Deja Vu and the aforementioned Abismo. As for the weight problem/issue mentioned before, I doubt any of us are actual physicists here and we all have our theories about what a launched ride could do to a train with that wing span, but then again why not use a gradually launched lifthill, somewhat similar to Incredible Hulk (hah not really gradual but I think you folks get the drift). The immense strain of a 1-60 mph launch in a couple of seconds on a train that wide is a smaller risk when you increase the speed of a coaster from 1-60 over a longer span of time. But I must go with the nay-sayers, I highly doubt its a launched coaster, but wouldn't it be something if it was?
