  1. Good Gravy https://www.owensborotimes.com/features/2023/08/holiday-world-announces-10m-gravy-themed-coaster/
  2. The new DollyWood coaster looks amazing. That quad-down is insane.
  3. Wow, 10 years ago who would have thought that Holiday World would be compared against Six Flags, Kings Island, Cedar Point, etc...? It's amazing how much growth has occurred in the past 10 years. I can't wait to see what growth comes in the next 10. I think there were some excellent points made in that Holiday World is experiencing some growing pains. Growing Pains are great if you address them well. History shows that Holiday World will come out of these pains fantastically. I do have to second some of the comments though about the caliber of some of the park patrons though. There do seem to be many more rude and boorish people attending the park than in the past. I guess that comes with growing as park. The park space is tight and you seem to encounter a lot more of those people than you do at a larger park where things are a little more spread out. With that said. I'm excited to see what the Park has in store for future growth plans. I would really love to see a 5 or 10 year plan which I am sure they have around there somewhere.
  4. Please post some pics of Thunderbird and Thunderbird Plaza when you all get back from the park. I likely won't make it this year since we moved out of the area to Montana.
  5. The new Park Map was uploaded onto the Holiday World website. http://www.holidayworld.com/park-tickets/park-map/
  6. Since today is Easter, I will say that a themed Easter section in the park could be alot of fun for the kids and have some fun coaster themeing too.
  7. The law has been amended and if I understand it correctly, explicitly protects the public from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
  8. Nice to see Holiday World get recognized as one of the 10 best amusement parks this summer. But, no love for The Legend? http://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/tripideas/10-best-amusement-parks-for-2015/ss-AAah75p#image=8
  9. Video on Holiday World Facebook page has some POV video from the launch thru the loop. Must see! Looks quick, near misses look great, especially the Will power building.
  10. I've got to throw a vote out there for the food at Holiday World. The prices are much more reasonable than at any other park I have been to. The free drinks are great too. But the food quality is top notch. The Thanksgiving meals you can get at the Plymouth Rock Cafe are hard to top in my opinion.
  11. When I was a kid I always wanted to ride King Cobra at Kings Island. I was just never tall enough. By the time I finally made it back to Kings Island and was tall enough, the ride was gone. What was the ride like on King Cobra? Someone on here has had to have ridden it.
  12. I know they aren't rapids or log flumes, but Holiday World has the 2 water coasters that are the best water rides I have ridden. Wildebeest and Mammoth are both fantastic. I prefer Wildebeest as I think you get a few more negative g's than Mammoth. But with Mammoth you turn the full 360 so you are forward and backward going up and down the hills. Both are excellent.
  13. I agree 100% the Voyage triple down is without a doubt the best coaster tunnel.
  14. Just moved from Chicago (home park SFGA) and prior to that Indiana (home park Holiday World) to the Missoula area. I will miss Holiday World and the ability to take a ride on Thunderbird this year. However, I was pleased to find a new home park. Looks like Silverwood is my new home park. I had never heard of it until today actually. Looking forward to checking it out this summer. Did I miss the big announcement about what is coming in 2015?
  15. Ok, here it goes... Goliath +300 Magnum XL-200 +250 El Toro +500 Big Thunder Mountain +200 Outlaw Run +500 Total = 1750
  16. I know a few schools in the Indy area went back on July 28. They are doing a more year round calendar to try to help with retention. They take 2 weeks off in October (11th-26th), December (20th - January 5) and March (21st - April 5th) and then have 8 weeks off during the summer (June 1 - July 27). So longer fall and spring breaks, but shorter summer break.
  17. Got to be The Voyage for me. Everytime I ride it I need a good 10-15 minutes to recuperate. I get off feeling a little woozy and need some dippin dots (well placed dippin dots location Holiday World) to get my bearings again. The back half is just crazy intense with speed and then the spaghetti bowl is icing on the cake. Love it, but I definitely think it is the most intense ride I have ever ridden. Oh, and I have learned to never enter the Plymouth Rock Cafe right after getting off Voyage. The smell is just too much after getting off the ride. Need at least 30 minutes off the ride before I can go in the Cafe.
  18. Hmmm, not sure all your facts are right about the coasters. Think you may have gotten Raven and Legend mixed up in your description. Regardless, nice trip report. Sound like you had a good time and got a lot of rides in. The Voyage is 6,442 feet long with a ride time of about 2:45 with 154 foot drop The Legend is 4,042 feet long with a ride time of about 2:00 with 113 foot drop (I wouldn't call this really really short) The raven is 2,800 feet long with a ride time of about 1:30 with 85 foot drop (I wouldn't call this really long)
  19. Yeah, pieces were received at Holiday World today. Check out their twitter for a couple pics.
