  1. I was looking for a good PTR of SFMM....and I found a whole bunch here. I don't really post on any other sites, but I had been visiting this site for a while before I registered.
  2. I wouldn't go as far as to generalize steelies as smooth....there are way to many bad Arrows, Vekomas, Togos, and even some early B&Ms. But, I still pick steel, because there's a lot more you can do with them. I've been on some great woodies though....I've enjoyed every single one i've been on except Predator....Which is horrible.
  3. Intamin is better at non-looping stuff. (S:ROS and S:ROS totally beat out Raging Bull) B&M does really good looping coasters (B:TR is a favorite of mine)....and their coasters generally look better too....B&M's are probably the best looking coasters in the world today. Probably a tie.
  4. How does that Vortex run? It looks like it would be a lot smoother than Iron Wolf because it lacks all of those sudden turns.
  5. SFA in October '04 Batwing was running one train (the thing is designed to run THREE), S:ROS running one train, Mind Eraser running one train, Wild One running two but stacking horribly, Two Face was closed. Joker's Jinx was running two, but then the yellow one rolled back. They ran that train empty the remainder of the day. The Park was very crowded, and the ride op's and vendors almost seemed as if they were trying to make people mad by going extremely slow. Looking back though, I enjoyed it much more than I would have enjoyed being in school that week.
  6. The train did stall on the track. That's what caused most of the minor injuries to the riders on the train, as the train came to a sudden halt. I don't think the guy in the water park got killed either, but i'm not sure on that one. We've seen worse coaster accidents than this one, but since there's really nothing to blame, they have no reason to believe it couldn't happen again.
  7. I remember when S:ROS opened at SFDL, they used shots of Viper at SFMM, leading many people to think the ride would not only have OTSR's, but LOOPS as well. At that point, SF didn't have any hypers in the chain, so that was about as close as they could get. Being 11 years old at the time, I was actually dissapointed that the ride didn't have inversions! That sure changed quickly.
  8. Intamin trains may be a good idea if they fit. Intamins always have the wheels on the outside of the track, with no wheel chucking problems. Morgan is used to putting their wheels on the inside like Arrow and Vekoma (I don't know why), and the one time they tried putting them on the outside, well, one flew off.
  9. Wow it looks like it's incredible. I've only done B:TR and an SLC....as well as a family invert, but inverted coasters are definitely one of the best types. I can't wait to ride Raptor this summer.
  10. Both SFNE and SFA have completely changed since even the late 90's. Both had an SLC and a woodie or two...oh yeah and an old Arrow Launched Loop, removed by both parks. Both parks are in good shape coaster-wise now.
  11. SFDL's Predator. Once, it was one of the best. Now, it's the worst coaster i've ever been on. It feels like you're falling down a flight of stairs the whole way through. Add some major train stacking (one of the trains being empty, usually), and there you have the perfect example of a ride that needs to be torn down. I don't think Mind Eraser has aged that poorly....it was just constructed poorly in the first place....I don't remember it ever being better.
  12. Mine is going to be something at SFDL, probably Viper or S:ROS, sometime in May, most likely.
  13. There's one called "Orphan Rocker" in Australia. It was built back in the 80's but hasn't opened yet.
  14. Eh, they're not really that good, or that bad. Mind Eraser @ SFDL is the only one i've done multiple times, and it sure does beat your ears up. The restraints are huge as well. I have, however, been on rougher coasters in my life, and when running two trains, it can be a near walk-on.
  15. I get nervous whenever i'm riding a coaster/thrill ride for the first time. Not like nervous in a bad way, in an exciting way. The first time I rode S:ROS at SFDL I was mortified though. That first drop changed my life. Even after the first time, I get nervous on launched coasters still. I rode MGM's RRC a couple of times and each time before the launch was horrifying.
  16. Wow I wish they would do that when I went to Disney.... Too bad there's no Jasmine in the picture....ooh that would be even better.
  17. If RCDB.com says it's a coaster, then I say it's a coaster.
  18. Oh no....I think SFDL's Mind Eraser is the closest one that I know of. Makes me want to move to some town on the other side of the park.
  19. Mine would be by a large lake and mountains. Schwartzkopf Looping Star- (SFAW's Viper) Located on the lake Arrow Suspended- top speed around 60mph, runs three trains thanks to double brake-run at the end (like Cedar Point's Corkscrew). Lots of swinging over water and around trees. B&M Floorless- eight inversions, including a dive loop coming off of the mcbr (instead of a drop). Maybe some cool near misses with rocks or branches. Intamin Hyper- basically out & back but with a really cool terrain turnaround in the woods. Also, a helix over water with a ton of mist at the end. GCI Woodie-Very Twisted, 2 tunnels, Millenium Flyers. Runs through the woods with some terrain action on the mountains. Premier Launched Shuttle-Similar to Robin, but with a Batwing instead of a Cobra Roll. Also, most of the ride would be inside a mountain.
  20. I really enjoy most corkscrews. I prefer the ones on Arrow coasters (SFDL Viper, SFGam Shockwave and Demon), for some reason. Probably because I like that feeling when they're consecutive. (B&M's are usually separated)
  21. S:ROS (SFA/SFDL)-Ride in the front or back. Definitely worth the wait. The feeling of flying over the lift hill in the back is crazy, and the front seat has awesome views, of course. I rode in the middle of both Roar and Wild One, and had a great ride both coasters. I couldn't really say if other seats would be better or not. Predator just sucks. It's the worst coaster i've ever been on. Seriously, I wouldn't even bother riding it. If you must, try the front. You're in for an extremely long wait due to the amazing four minute dispatch intervals, but it's the only semi-tolerable seat. You won't want to re-ride.
  22. S:ROS @ SFDL's wins it for me. SFDL's has great scenery, while SFA's is over a very ugly field. There's not even grass in some spots. Both Rides beat Raging Bull however. It was a great ride, but lacked the forces of the Supermans.
  23. The only inverts i've been on are SFGam's Batman, and SFDL's Mind Eraser. Batman takes it by a long shot. This summer I will get to ride Raptor though.
  24. I guess when I started going to SFDL more often at about 13 is when I got hooked. Riding Viper over and over turned coaster riding from something I felt dared to do (peer pressure) into something I enjoy to do. S:ROS quickly became my favorite. I began going to other parks more often, and always making sure to get whatever credits were possible at that park. To this day, S:ROS is still my favorite. Viper also holds a special place to me.
