Does VF have a proslide tornado yet?
Is that some type of sick joke?!
Relax dude, valleyfair isn't his home park. I don't know Michigans Adventure's water slides, so he doesn't need to know much about valleyfair either. I'd cut him some slack. As for me, I am going to go on the slides. Im actually kind of nervous for these but I'm making myself go on them because usually ( the same thing happened when i rode dragster) it's not as bad as it seems.

So gary, how did the call go from yesterday?
-
The webcam is covered in slush...wonder if it's on purpose as it looks like they're putting up supporting for the slide tower.
I'm pretty sure valleyfair hasn't made a deal with nature for covering up their new attraction, shakopee had quite the snow storm today.

- A walk back would be awesome!
- some sort of winter event (not saying it has to be this year)
- ERT, maybe have the event be catered (there would be an admission fee of course)
- Q&A with higher ranked park officials
- Behind the scenes tours of the matinence buildings
- A haunt event/ tour would be awesome (I know a few people who would want to do that)
- Giveaways/raffles?
I know those are a lot to ask for but i'm just throwing out ideas.

Valleyfair is also on the cusp of becoming a major park. With the growth of the Twin Cities, demand on the park for bigger and better things is increasing.
We already have had major upgrades in the past few years...an exciting wooden coaster, a great Planet Snoopy--larger than Cedar Point's--the removal of upcharge attractions to make way for more regular no-charge rides and upgraded catering facilities, a waterpark essentially doubling in size this year, a multimillion-dollar educational animatronic walkthrough for the schools to use as an excuse, and the mystery of the parking lot cones to top it off.
The park is poised for extensive and exciting future development, no doubt about it.
Could the cones in the parking lot have been outlining the site of a potential new amphitheater, one further from the noise of loud rollercoasters?
The problem with an amphitheater being along the dinos alive fence is again, the noise. Surprisingly the animatronics are quite loud, and you can hear them quite clearly from outside the gate (I would sweep along that whole fence a lot). I think if they do use that land the cones were outlining it will be for some kind of ride, since it is no coincidence that the cones almost perfectly bordered the flood plain lines. Btw, I have been contacted and will be working another season at valleyfair!

Yeah, Ferris Wheel's look strange when there are no carts on them. Did you happen to take any pictures?
If you look back a few pages I have pictures of the ferris wheel when I toured the soak city expansion construction.

Wait, I thought the trains were blue? I'm surprised they never announced this

Ok everyone, just heard back from Mr. Frazier. He is going to have his marketing director call me to discuss details about restarting a coaster craze event! What sort of things would you like to see? This is not a for sure thing yet but its a possibility. Respond asap cause i don't know when he/she will call.
Tour of a maintenance shop, coaster walkback(s), morning and night ERT, Q&A, general event stuff like that. I would love to be able to walk up a lift hill, but how realistic is that? Is it even a possibility?
You probably need safety harnesses so probably not a possibility but we can dream can't we

Lift hill walks and walk backs!!!!!!

If they hosted another event like coaster craze I would go in a heart beat. Gary, you should purpose the idea to Mr. Frazier since you know him!
-
Some events I would LOVE to see at valleyfair.
1. Coaster Campout
2. Some sort of annual enthusiast event (I know about give kids the world don't worry)
3. Something like the cedar point winter chill out tour

Besides speeding up the drop on power tower how else could they make the cycles more intense? I think trim brakes are there for matinence purposes to preserve the ride. It's a great idea but from a matinence perspective it would wear on the rides. So going back to reading attractions, did they tease at renegade? I don't remember them doing that. It would be awesome if they did kind of a "blackout" at the park where they shut off the lights. In the haunt employee event they shut off a majority of the lights and it really added to the experience. It would be cool to incorporate that into the rides to make a more thrilling experience.
-
Whoops! I stand corrected . In my defense the slides look a lot similar.
-
I'm 90% sure they are the Pro Slide freeFALL and the pro slide SkyBOX models.
-
If we do get a coaster next year, I hope they tease at it during the season. I love it when parks do that, it makes the experience more fun, gets more people interested, and builds hype. By the way, the sign is still standing!
-
They'll be as far back as where hydro blaster used to be. They might be repaving it or tearing it up to put piping in.
-
I LOVE the colors! Will the brown slides be at the end? I never saw colors in the concept art?
-
I wasn't a ride op but I think the ride ops had to count down the launch.
-
I would pick a white coaster with blue supports named Avalanche. Or a purple tracked coaster with black supports named mysterio. Again, we shouldn't count the chicks before they hatch
-
It's very normal. They haven't updated the site from last year in that area yet. Valleyfair closes thunder canyon and excalibur every year when haunt starts. Why they have already announced it now? I don't know. But it's pretty normal for that to happen.
-
Yes. That's at least what I've heard about it from the employee chatter. The funny thing is, the box of cones was slightly smaller then the one in the picture, and it almost perfectly bordered the flood boundary now that I look at where the flood boundaries are! The line of cones never past any of the boundaries listed above, I never noticed that until now!

They might be getting a discount on the dive coaster because the last 3 B&Ms built were all enormous expensive record breakers (Gatekeeper, Banshee, Fury 325). Then they'd have Gatekeeper swooping over the front entrance and Centurion over the marina entrance.
But there's no confirmation it's for CP. The name Centurion feels good for a front entrance to me ("Introducing Centurion, a record breaking dive coaster new at Valleyfair 2016!").
If the dive coaster is indeed for CP, I suspect that they are pushing for a new steel record breaker so fast to try to draw as many guests into the new hotel as soon as possible. They may not be able to get a new woodie or rehab Mean Streak due to the major wood coaster companies already being booked by other parks (I know, unrealistic).
And I agree about the wooden coaster situation at Cedar Point, it's weird for a flagship park. But a dive coaster would be a weird addition to get for us too now that I think about it, before an invert. And how could they work it into the front entrance with Dinos blocking one side and Wild Thing blocking the other side (unless it's going to be taking a chunk of parking lot and the entrance is redone or moved)? It might be going to California's Great America instead, they are the other growth park after all.
After looking at Google Maps, it's clear CGA could do a dive coaster entrance remodel in the vein of Cedar Point and Carowinds easily by removing their amphitheater. But the neighbors may complain about the noise, so I don't know.
I have heard rumors about a chunk of the parking lot being removed and relocated at valleyfair, then the missing area filled with an attraction. thats just what I've heard among the employees last year. I'm not sure if you remember back in october I mentioned the massive cone area blocked off from cars by the dines alive fence. Its an interesting and very plausible thought. I don't think we'll get a dive coaster, but if it's gonna be a coaster, it will most likely be an invert. sorry for the double post

If Valleyfair announces 2016 additions around the same day we should hear an announcement in 234 days! I hope to see some evidence of a coaster coming in 2016! Keep your eyes peeled this year, I will!
if you are working there again this summer keep your eyes wide open and report here what you see. If VF is getting a new coaster you will probably be one of the first to know by seeing construction markings sometime in late July or early August. If a new coaster also involves removing an older one then we will see markings even earlier than that. If a new coaster is coming in 2016 I am sure we will see other signs of it happening before they make the official announcement so be on the lookout for sure.
Or if you work there maybe consider your responsibilities as an employee higher than your allegiance to the enthusiast community. Just a thought
I work in park services, so that means my eyes are constantly on the ground, when you're looking for trash and stuff it isn't hard to miss markings and other stuff while doing your job. If do ever find out the plans for 2016 I probably won't share them, my supervisor last year told me about the expansion around july but didn't go into great detail. Ill keep an eye out but like the person above said, my main focus will be my job. As for being off the clock? Heck yes! I went almost every day after my shift, so if I do find something it will most likely be after my shift. Ill keep you posted this year.
