The passholder preview was great- i just did a quick review on my blog if anyone is interested. Can't wait for opening weekend, the wait is almost over!!
Good to hear that you enjoyed the preview day. I'll be at the park on Saturday, and it can't come fast enough.
Did you notice any new changes in the park that we weren't already aware of?
Sorry to butt in but I noticed the park got dyson air blade dryers, and new ground speaker systems from what I observed.

The pass holder event helped some of the employees practice in a more relaxed environment. I saw some of you guys today, I wish I could have participated but it was fun practicing!

I was able to test the new slides today. Let me just say they are AMAZING!!! Breakers Plunge was by far my favorite, and don't worry, the slides are smooth. You
'll love it. Tip: when you go on them, plug your nose. Sorry for the double post

I purchased all season dining and I did not receive an email either. I do know someone who was invited and they have a regular gold pass.

Would Valleyfair consider open a week before Mother's Day and the fishing opener? I'd like Valleyfair to change there opening day. They always have open on Mother's Day weekend crowds are usually light to because of the fishing opener to.
It would be very difficult for managers to last minute schedule a couple hundred employees short notice.

I would hope Raging Rapids never leaves. Those are relatively rare, and it's one of my favorite things at the park.
Hurricane Falls, I could personally care less, but I don't think it would leave. It's too much of a waterpark standard, and has one of the longest waits on hot days.
I would really want Raging Rapids stays, the unpredictable nature of the ride is what makes it unique. I wouldn't mind them taking out the old speed slides either. Raging Rapids was closed for a majority of last year though.

Totally forgot about a potential slingshot! Wouldn't be a surprise if we got one rather quickly.
I'm 99.99% sure the rumor was false, I have been at the park a couple of times in this past offseason and I have seen no pieces that would suggest a slingshot will be built.

The first phase was the wave pool, the second is the new slides. Not smoking dip and dots, that is the current plan, it's not written in stone but it comes from someone in the know in the physical plant.
But really, why would they tear down a coaster, to make a parking lot the park doesn't even need? And they won't put in another wave pool, no water park needs two.

I will be going on the 16th! I'm so excited! Anyone else venturing off to any other Cedar Fair parks this summer? I'm most likely going to CP and KI!
I'm going everyday of opening weekend I'll also be going to Cedar Point and Kings Island for a few days.
-
^ I was planning the same thing for my blog
-
Valleyfair seems to be placing a lot of emphasis on chef Luis. Anyone else find that interesting?
2016 medium rare top sirloin steak coaster confirmed!
-
^ I'm assuming so, although I've never heard stuff like that from working at vf. I wouldn't know why he or she is releasing that much info (assuming it is true) because wouldn't you get in trouble for releasing company secrets? Another issue, why the heck would they tear down a coaster for a redundant parking lot to be built? Keep in mind that according to garyman that GM Frazier does not want to tear down any coasters at this time.
-
If we do get an invert, it will be a while. VF is landlocked right now with the floodplain bordering the main areas where attractions could have gone, and it looks like the roller coasters we have now won't be going anywhere any time soon. The coaster craze esque event I don't think will happen this year because they have published the events on their website.
-
Looks like Power Tower is testing today.
And Riptide. And Xtreme Swing. The park is starting to come alive again
By 2020, I think that we can definitely expect a new inverted coaster, dark ride, major new flat and a much nicer waterpark!
Since Valleyfair floods so frequently, I could see the dark ride being themed to a river monster or something along those lines...
I had job training today and I saw quite a few rides testing today. It gets me excited for this season!
-
I thought we were on the subject of 2016 because it is usually the subject. My apologies!
-
For the CF dark ride situation where could one go at VF? Matt Ouitmet said there are available buildings at all 11 CF parks. I would guess on using the building they use for the Zombie High School, though they could relocate the bumper cars to Route 76 and use that building.
Mr.Ouitmet also stated it is unlikely there will be any other dark ride additions until after 2016.

Based on the work they've done in this area, I'm predicting that there will a new waterpark entrance at that corner because I can't understand why you'd design the path like that and then fence it off.
There was a gate there that allowed employees to get into soak city quicker, It could be that.
-
Does anyone know what the front gate ticket price was last year? I know its $47 this year but I want to know if there was an increase from last year. I never really pay attention because I always have a gold pass
I believe general admission last year was $44.99. On another note, any updates on the potential event garyman?
-
It's good they're getting a lot of general improvements done this year, so maybe next year they won't have to do a 100% general improvement year.
-
I would buy a few bolts from the sign for a keepsake. I don't think they would sell parts of it to enthusiasts though.
-
-
I actually really like the new sign. It gives the park a more modern look.
-
Honestly a flat and a new coaster would really make valleyfair's line up "up-to-par." I'm guessing they'll add a small flat, or a larger flat to increase the general public's interest in the park, and then in 2017 add a new coaster.

It's a bit early to classify the slides as "not thrilling" if you haven't been on them yet. I tested them last Saturday and let me tell you, they are VERY thrilling. I wouldn't really classify the water park additions separate from every other addition in the past because they are still in the same park being Valleyfair. I think as long as we got something thrilling in the so called "wet" or"dry" park, we should be happy for the meantime. Coasters aren't everything to a park, and there are a lot of things Valleyfair needs before a new coaster IMO
