This coaster is going to be great. I still love that color scheme.

^Love the drainage pipe! Will surely turn my beautiful little park into a dump

Edge panning has already been implemented (due to demand, the devs worked it in earlier today). They're working on adding a few more features before pushing out the update- so keep your eyes peeled.

^Ha I forgot that was n7. But yes he's part of the team and he's released most of the screenshots since then.

A couple of new screenshots were shared on steam today,
Our first look at rainy weather. Looks awesome

Can't wait to hear the GP go on about how this isn't safe
I heard six people died on this last week during testing! Just look how unsafe it is, they didn't even bother to finish the supports!
Seriously that looks NUTS. I can't wait to get back to SFGAm this summer.

For me, it's because the NL community has spent so many years trying to nail the realism in "train movement," the precision and everything else associated with it, that honestly anything that isn't 100% accurate is hard to enjoy. Its part of the reason the community has gone through great lengths to develop tools that allow users to create rides through force vector design so they can achieve that look and feel. I think by all counts, Theme Park Studio look great! A HUGE step up from the likes of its predecessors. I was merely expressing my disappointment, more in myself, that I don't think I would be able to allow myself to enjoy it like I would like to for the aforementioned reasons.
But like I said, the program looks really solid, and I think it will have more mass appeal then NL. And most importantly, its great that the 2 programs that are available are so distinguished from one another that the consumer has options.
Remember that the editor is not finished (hence why it isn't included yet). It is currently a bezier curve system very similar to NL1. However, they've stated that they are looking to other options (spline and vector design included). They are open to improvements, and they're keeping up with the forums trying to gauge what we want... Regardless of the fact that the game will, no matter what, include simple design tools, a lot of folks on the TPS forum complain about the advanced tools available to NL. If those people would take some time to learn the advanced tools, they would see that they aid immensely in the designing of rollercoasters.
The more people who express interest in improved building tools the better, IMO. I really haven't seen a whole lot of rude negativity towards TPS. But is cheerleading Pantera on every little thing going to lead to improvements? I put up my money for the game almost a year ago when the kickstarter campaign started, I support Pantera 100%. But I can see where there is room for improvement.

Can someone site some examples as to why the new style track is superior? Just because it is new doesn't necessarily make it better.
Also curious.
Plenty of rides with a similar track design run perfectly smooth and comfortable. Gemini, Tennessee Tornado, Magnum, etc. etc. Just because most arrow loopers are terrible doesn't mean that you can't make a good ride with that track style.
I see what you mean about it being weird they aren't using their newer design, but I really doubt it will affect the ride quality.

Purdy. I hope this thing turns out as awesome as it looks.

I've only been on the 1st gens, 2nd gens, and gyros. Out of the three, 1st gen takes it. Maybe it's just the fond memories getting to me, but those things were just too much fun.
I prefer the 2nd gen to the gyros, better free fall feeling IMO. I really want to get on a stand up, Falcons Fury will be nuts too.

That actually looks a whole lot better, I didn't think there was any saving that color scheme. I actually like Anaconda, it's one of the smoother arrows around and the hangtime in the corkscrews is a lot of fun.

No more Push? Too bad my children wont be able to experience the talking trashcan like I did as a kid. He will be missed
Seven dwarfs is looking great. I'm looking forward to getting back to Disney this spring.

I think Im the only one that sees the potential in this layout..
Probably. I just don't think retracking one turn is going to change the fact that this ride isn't fun. I'll certainly report back if it's any good, just don't get your hopes up.

So is Beta February 10th? Or is that the release date for the final product?
The first release is pre-beta, the feature set isn't complete. They're doing it this way to get as much feedback as possible.. Maybe try reading the announcement? First paragraph...

What the developers say:
“Theme Park Studio is still in development and is being released in stages. Please only purchase if you are interested in being involved in the ongoing development of this exciting project. This includes testing, debugging, and supplying new feature requests! We listen to our backers! We have been, and continue to be, a community based project!!!
The development of this game has come a LONG way since the kickstarter, but there is still much to do!

Official date is Feb. 10. Can't wait!

Looks like a fun ride. Depending on which side you're on, looks like you can get some good hangtime on some of those inversions. The theming of this park is awesome, that view from the first drop was great. If you can zone out those sweet beats you'll realize this thing crawls through the course, as expected.
-
I've been playing around with the editor trying to get used to it. Really wish there was a video tutorial showing a basic coaster with some curves and inversions to help us get a feel for the new UI and track designer. Evaluating the built in tracks helped but there's still a few things I haven't figured out yet. I decided to wait on the purchase due to the download time.
EDIT: Just found the text tutorials ... hopefully they can help

Alright I have one more question. I plan on purchasing the program when it becomes available and downloading it into my old computer. Will I be able to redownload the program onto a new computer without having to repurchase the program?
Save the installer and product key on a thumb drive, they remind you to do this when you purchase. However, if you do need to ask for another download, just give them your info and the email address you used when purchasing and they will confirm everything and send it again. It might take a couple days, and it's kind of annoying on both ends (I've done it)... so just back it up the first time around

A frozen themed ride would be really cool... but at the expense of the Maelstrom...
Kind of hoping there's nothing behind this rumor.

Does everyone agree that Magnum's changed that much? I loved it when I rode it last spring, enough to make it pretty much my favorite coaster. Hard for me to imagine it's been neutered particularly.
They still run it with the trims off on occasion. It's still ok with them, but it's a whole other beast without them. It's my #1 at CP. Ejector airtime... over and over... it REALLY tries to throw you off the ride
-
Afterburn is looking good! Glad to see they didn't use the rumored red white and blue color scheme. I'm happy they're sprucing up the place. Thanks for the update.

New avatar here. Found it somewhere on the net.
Liked the "tranquility" of it, and kept it on file.
Eherm. Well uh, this is awkward. Just reverted back to my pre-christmas avatar to find this
It's a Brazilian Raintree, my favorite species. Maybe I need to change it

The trims on Magnum ruin the ending IMO.
This one didn't ruin the ride, but the removal of this was a good "neuter" nonetheless...

Ghost Rider is my favorite woodie, I first rode it in 2005, last rode it in 2010. Went to hell pretty quick, I could imagine how bad it is now. I wouldn't want to a see a makeover, just fresh track.
Mean Streak has so much potential for a RMC makeover...

Not very long... not sure I could say at this point with all the time I've spent contemplating things or just taking screenshots... A couple evening's worth of gameplay would get you there. I've done and redone a few things. Learned a lot about the program during this construction. This was the first park I committed to. I had a pretty good handle on the program before I started, though.
