  1. When it comes to the 20 coasters/Colossus refurb thing, my take is this: They will announce another coaster will open just as Colossus is shut down, so that keeps the count at 19, when Colossus reopens it is 20. Big celebration...until they shut down Revolution for refurbishment just in time for its big anniversary. Then they get to do the 20th coaster celebration again along with the anniversary celebration...
  2. That is interesting to know. I was surprised they hadn't torn it down to use for the YOLO station. Somewhere a SFMM top brass is reading this, slapping his forehead and saying, "Why didn't we think of this?!?!?" As for your ride on Yolo, you should have opted for the back. Back couple rows = More airtime. I wasn't as impressed with the front rows after doing the back rows. Oh and my experience on GL wasn't bad...until the last filp. My "man parts" hurt just thinking about it...
  3. For those bitching about the bitching: stop and think about what was there before Yolocoaster. Log Jammer had a pretty cool queue back in the day. The landscaping around the ride and Gold Rusher was awesome. The themeing in the whole area around LJ, Mooseburger, the entrance to Bugs Bunny Land and everything else there was great when they kept it up. SFMM management ran all that into the ground, ripped it all out and put something bland. So maybe cut those bitching some slack, mkay?
  4. I'd make Yolocoaster at SFMM longer. Since it is technically like Revolution 2.0, why not give it a version of that ending spiral before the break run? Really all that would change is instead of hitting the break run after the Top Hat, have the track bank right into a sideways loop sort of thing over the big empty area between the ride and that entrance structure for Yolo's queue then come back around to the break run.
  5. Apocalypse isn't as rough as GhostRider at all. However, I have found Apocalypse to be much rougher than what it used to be, and during my ride a few weeks ago, I chose not to re-ride it even with a 5-minute wait. Kind of strange since Apocalypse was running fine earlier this year. This was my experience with Apocalypse as well. The first time I rode it earlier this year it was smooth as glass. Reminded me of my first experience on Psyclone when it first opened. Every time I've ridden Apocalypse since then, there is a noticeable difference. Strange how much the ride has deteriorated in just a handful of months...
  6. For those that are stating that YOLO is "broken down" because it is "stuck in the tunnel" (I really haven't seen any confirmation of this for one...), the tunnel is a stop point part of the safety features on the ride. It stopped running on the Midnight Riders thing as well and the lead mechanic explained to me that if the train going though the tunnel doesn't hit the trip points just right when going through, the whole ride automatically shuts down as a safety precaution. This makes it so they whole system has to reset and that takes time. The train doesn't just "get stuck" in the tunnel. I think it might be something else if the ride isn't running. That being said, I haven't heard much about the ride doing roll backs since the midnight riders event (When I rode it rolled back right before my train was to come around, followed by my train rolling back). I heard of a few times since then that had to do with it over heating, but it sounds like they might have solved it.
  7. Exactly. Seat belts are 1000x better than OTSR's. I'd love to see Revolution without them one day...possibly Ninja. Just think how much more fun Ninja would be without OTSR's...
  8. Pretty sure you're SUPPOSED to come out of your seat like that. I figured that was supposed to happen. I wasn't complaining about it. But I am sure some safety nazi would, that is why I wouldn't be surprised if it got belts. I liked the ride. That is why I rode it twice when I had the chance.
  9. Just a note on YOLOcoaster: I rode it twice for the Midnight Riders thing (I haven't been back to the park since), and the lap bar was useless. I came completely out of my seat and was only held in by the restrains on my shins/calves. It wouldn't surprise me if it got seat belts.
  10. The memories that video brings back. 91 or 92 was probably the last visit I made to the park before my parents moved the family to Arizona in 93. I still remember going with my friend Todd when his dad got tickets from his work (he worked at the Lockheed plant just over the hill). Those were some awesome nights. The park just isn't the same now. Oh and this video was probably taken right around the time of my first visit to the park:
  11. Riddler's Revenge at SFMM. The restraints are uncomfortable and aren't very forgiving if you are a bigger guy like me. I came off of that ride in a ton of pain. Also I'd have to say Green Lantern: First Flight also at SFMM was pretty boring to me. That last little flip ejected me out of my seat and I landed on that little part of the seat between your legs on a not so comfortable spot... Both of those happened in the same day. It wasn't fun.
