I realize it is in the far out burbs but frankly so are most parks.
Was staffing an issue pre-covid? I never heard of staffing issues until the last few years, so I doubt the location is the issue.
SFSTL is stale, run down, blah.... no excitement. That doesn't seem like a great place to work, does it? The park need a generous amount of capital for a well deserved Facelift.
It gets no media attention (radio or TV), no commercials, no billboards. The park is just there, like it has been for 50 plus years. ...yawn...
It's like watching your favorite Movie over and over and over, it's your favorite but eventually you have had enough.

I have my doubts that SFSTL would be owned Premier Parks but who knows. ....Maybe you do

They need to cough up the money and fix the lights on the Ferris wheel so that the pumpkin is back. And of course the clock program for the normal season
SFStL needs to set up a 'Go Fund Me' drive - Please help SFSTL fix all the broken stuff in our Park! This includes Broken Lightning, Vacant Restaurant and Waterslide Removal, and Empty/Dry Water Features and more! If we exceed our goal, our MIA Carousel will return for 2023 as a new Addition!!

Trying to understand the reasoning behind anything from the current CEO or what's left of corporate is pointless. Once the mentally unstable CEO is removed, hopefully sooner rather than later, we should start seeing a lot of delayed projects continue.
Honestly my outlook for SFSTL is bleak, and for the other smaller SF parks as well.

Well this might be it for us. We have had season passes every year since 2005. I had not been paying attention until Lance posted it over on Screamscape. Next year's gold pass, on sale now for $55, does not include Hurricane Harbor or Frightfest. You need to at least buy the platinum pass to include those. No HH, no FF, no HITP. Sadly looks like it is time for our family to move on from SFSTL. I have not been one of the naysayers, but I do now think our park is dying.

Yup. Removing something which has been Free with paid admission for over the last 20 years is just simply a bad idea.
I am sure you will not be the only family pulling your Membership.

Or perhaps Corporate and the CEO pulled all the money for this project and threaten to fire anyone that works on these "now unapproved" projects.
Pulled the money away for an accessibility ramp? which is half-way complete??

Comparing Disney to SFSTL is like comparing Washington Univ to St Louis Community College. The point here is, Disney completes projects and when they are finished it is spectacular. With SFSTL, there are no guarantees projects will finish, and if they are it is usually a mediocre event. Did the accessibility ramp to the Screamin' Eagle Station ever get finished???

It's sorta goes back to the notion 'Corporate Hates STL'. I think Hate is a strong word and don't agree with that sentiment, I believe 'Ignores' or an 'After Thought' is more appropriate.

My solution...
Rent an ordinary ol' Carousel and place it in it the current footprint, providing a working ride and more importantly removing a dreadful eyesore.
In the meantime they can take their sweet time renovating, painting, restoring our Classic. And when that is done, place it in the courtyard area in front of our Palace Theater with a nice, classy station and queue.
Remove the rented Carousel and replace with a nice Flat, Spin and Puke.
Solved.

I think we all agree Magic Mountain needs another Coaster, actually maybe 3 more.

Justice League has been our biggest investment, and even then, meh. It's always closed, effects aren't working, and they have completely given up on the 3D. It didn't take long for it go become an official member of the Six Flags ride catalogue.
I hear they are working on bringing the VR Goggles back for Justice League.

If the park makes money no reason to close it or sell it
If you been to the park recently, you would think they gave up on it. No atmosphere, no excitement, nothing.
Closed Rides, Unfinished Projects, Empty areas of dirt and weeds, Half of a Go Kart track, the other half piles of Dirt. It's pretty sad

What's the consensus ... will SF close SFSTL or just keep it open in its mediocre state forever ...or sell it?

$40 for parking at SFGAdv, wow. That absolutely blows my mind. When I first started working for the park at those very booths where you pay for parking in 1998, it was $7. That is a 471% increase. For comparison, the inflation rate for those 24 years totals 82%.
$30 bucks to park at SFStL. Insanity ... at least bring back the Trams for that price! Yes, I am old enough to remember the Parking Lot Trams SFStL used to offer.

So how's the Park currently? No President, wondering if that makes a difference at this point. Any more rides SBNO? Have they finally completed the Wheelchair Ramp for SE? Any markers for a Blockbuster Steel Coaster popping up???

I'd like to see Six Flags split up into regions. West, MidAmerica, East ... or something along those lines. Every Park has its own needs and they are having a hard time applying a single strategy across the whole chain.

I can't see the Boss lasting much longer in its current state. Just a matter of time before one and/or many will get hurt, then we will have something like KI's SOB on our hands.

Went to the park today, first visit with American Thunder running. Still a great coaster, best in the park!
On the flipside, it's been a few years since I have ridden the Boss. I decided to give it a ride today. Mistake! This coaster should be sold for kindling wood now. The absolute worst ride ever on a coaster, and I have been on plenty. Nothing remotely enjoyable about it. We left early due to the headache I got from it.
POS!

Lose the Ninja and Redesign that entire area - new Midway with Flats. Incorporate all the existing rides, shops with the new Development (Spinsanity, Tsunami, etc)
It would breath life into that walkway up towards the Mine Train.
My 2 cents.

SFSTL is a legacy park that been around for over 50 years. It should be the gem of the Midwest, and it very well could be if the park got the attention is needs. I think that's what gets under everyone's skin. We all know how great the Park could be, all the potential is there.
