Woah! At this rate, what, membership preview next Friday then?
-
Yep, it can close that early. It closed at 12:30PM on Sunday due to the weather.
I was actually joking about the noon thing. I thought I was being a little extreme, but apparently not!
To be fair, there were maybe fewer than 15 cars in the parking lot by that point (based on photos). I think it would've been wiser to just not open outright, but the park did that the previous weekend already, and, in the interest of not doing that on consecutive weekends, may have been a bit too optimistic that the weather would clear up.

If the forecast continues to look shaky come Friday, best thing you can do is follow the park on Twitter. They're pretty good about publishing any early closing times on there.

Is Philadelphia's downtown car friendly? I figured that taking public transit during my city day(s) would be preferable due to traffic and parking irritations.
It's not that bad, nowhere near the headache of driving in Manhattan. Make sure you don't block the box (keep the intersections clear) and you're all set.
The real headache is parking. Yes, there are lots generally all over, but parking in the city is in general super expensive. The safest bet for you is, if you find a parking lot with a really friendly rate, dump the car there and take public transit / car shares around.
Also, forgot to mention - as a big fan of U.S. history and civics, I personally LOVE the National Constitution Center on the other end of Independence Mall. I'd highly recommend checking it out if you end up visiting Independence Hall / the Liberty Bell.

Why did this park remove all the water rides???
Because they were old and not cost effective, a trend you'd see across the whole industry. Besides, they practically doubled the size of its water park only a couple of years ago.

This may be a bit sacrilegious, too, but roast pork sandwich > cheesesteak. If you really want to do the Philly experience, get the superior sandwich.
Looking at your list, I don't feel as if you've properly factored in travel time between your stops. For example, you want to to the Mummers Museum AND drive to Great Adventure in the same day, THEN drive the three hours to Knoebels? Are you only planning on doing a couple hours at Great Adventure and driving through the night, or driving out the next day and losing some time at Knoebels?
If you've factored the time already and are okay with the distances, fine, but want to make sure you're considering it. It's the Northeast - make sure you factor in traffic time as well, especially if you do any driving around rush hour.

Before we know it, it'll be rolling off of our tongues like any other name. I'm not worried.

Looks like the world got another credit!!

^ Shhh, don't ruin the fun!

Me too, looks awesome!

When did the land clearing on Fury start?
Earlier on in the 2014 season. I visited the park in late July on a business trip and the clearing had started several weeks before that.

The only model I've been on so far has been Tempesto, but I remember it being a lot of fun. Sure, these models are probably not going to crack anyone's top 10 lists, but I personally love how these can deliver a fun, thrilling ride for people while taking up barely any real estate. Colors pop, too!

due in part of me losing thirty pounds
Congrats!

Wow really, they would close early on a weekend? That's crazy. Guess I'll just play it by ear and check the forecast Friday night and see what's what. Thanks for the advice, what do you guys find is the best site for forecast in this area?
My default has become the National Weather Service website. No ads, no distractions, just straight-up weather.
Also, everything Boldikus and Bill have mentioned is 100% accurate, at least based off of trends from the last couple years' operations.

Man, it sure looks like there's going to be a lot of airtime on this thing!
-
Wow, it already looks so different from what we're used to. Can't wait to see the finished product next year!

This word, "prevailing," you keep using it. I do not think it means what you think it means.
One of the acceptable definitions of prevailing is "current". So technically, he's using it correctly.

In the end, you just gotta choose what's important to you. For me, I save up for FastLane+ because it's expensive enough just to get there that I might as well get my money's worth. Everyone has priorities, and whatever you choose to prioritize is okay.
This is the best advice. Though I feel I'd agree with your political sentiments and feel a lot needs to be done to address the growing inequality, at the end of it, you have to control what you're able to and learn to let go what you can't. I've cut back in areas of my budget that aren't that important to me (various subscription services, cable, movies / other entertainment, etc) in order to budget for trips that I want to take and for splurge things like fast passes.
Companies aren't going to stop offering these upselling opportunities - they'd be terrible businessmen if they did.

^ Anyone who knows Bill knows that was a VERY legitimate response.

It extends to other interstates as well. I'm exit 10 off of 295 and/or exit 2 off of the Turnpike!
Also, unpopular opinion: Turnpike > Parkway.

Didn't get a chance to go today as planned, but I've been seeing all the photos from opening day highlighting all of the refurbishment projects going on around the park. Really glad to see so much TLC being done!

Who is having a grated venture this weekend?
We're going to try have have our venture grated for a few hours tomorrow, but we have family obligations that evening.

Yea I like it, just took me by surprise. I forgot that the other coasters got repainted that way as well.

Hmmm, going straight red instead of leaving the yellow rails. Interesting choice.
