  1. If you’re really looking for a place for beers and good food, you could always give the Plumsted Grill a try. It’s a little under ten minutes from the park in the opposite direction from 195 (back where 537 turns into a two-lane road). Food and drinks are good and reasonably priced. That said, there isn’t anything else around it, so it’ll also depend on where you guys ended up choosing to stay. If you’re closer to Hamilton or Freehold, it’s better to try and find something more closer to there.

Just don’t go to Tommy’s next to the KFC, no matter how desperate you are for a drink. It sucks. Hard.

  2. Hey man, if after all of that during the last three weeks you're only up less than one pound, I'd consider that a HUGE win and is still something to be proud of.

I got down to about 305 recently, but I haven't been following keto protocol the last couple of days as I'm on vacation. Trying to not go crazy (and so far I think I've achieved that), and tomorrow morning we're flying out to see my sister in San Francisco for a week, during which we're going to be doing a LOT of walking / hiking, plus I still plan on doing my yoga workouts in the hotel room while I'm out there. I've put a couple pounds back on since I've relaxed my eating, but I mean it when I say only a couple. Still fitting into some clothes a lot better than I was in the recent past.

Once we get back next Wednesday, I'm going to really dial the discipline back up to 11 and see if I can get past this 300lb plateau and break back into the 200s.

  3. ^ That's excellent news! So happy for you!

And to answer your previous question - yes, a fan of wrestling. Jericho's podcast helped steer me towards DDPY.

I'm down a little bit more, down to about 310. I had a bunch of events last weekend that caused me to slip a bit, so I needed to use the last couple of days to reset, but I'm back on track. Hopefully the scale shows another positive result next time!

  4. I’m going to great adventure in late July during a weekend. Any tips?

Get a cheesesteak at Johns Roast Pork.

In all seriousness, Rayj, you'll have to provide more detail as to what you like / don't like and what your musts are. Without that, some standards:

    - Get Flash Pass

    - El Toro in the morning (same goes with Kingda Ka if it's running)

    - Safari right after riding El Toro

    - If you're interested in Green Lantern, just punch yourself in the head a few times and walk away. Same experience without wasting time in line.

    - Earn the "Coasterbill Trifecta" Badge by riding Sky Ride, Log Flume, and Skull Mountain (but only in the back row)

  5. But if you go there also get a roast pork sandwich with long hots and provolone. Sweet lord.

    My man.

I like onions, but only in small amounts. I end up finding most places put far too much onion in their cheesesteaks for my taste, so I'm a "wiz witout" guy (notice the "h" is missing, in case you go this route). I, too, am a ketchup man myself, but I'm finding myself putting less and less on recently.

  6. We're going to be in Philadelphia prior to going to SFGadv. Where's the best place to grab a cheesesteak?

I'm more partial to a great roast pork sandwich than a cheesesteak, but you can get some really good ones at the non-touristy places without needing to wait 30 minutes as well. Try John's Roast Pork for the best of both worlds. If you make your way over to Reading Terminal Market, DiNic's is good, too, but that one is straight up just roast pork sandwiches.

  7. Thanks for the report! It made me look forward to next month.

I didn't realize you'd be out to Great Adventure so soon! Hope you enjoy it!

Something new to me is that apparently re-rides are not only allowed at this park, but strongly encouraged by the ride operators as well.

Yep, this is one of those things that helps Great Adventure stand out. Growing up going there, I was so used to it. It wasn't until I started to visit many other parks in my late 20s that I realized just how uncommon that practice is.

  8. Is it in the old Freefall spot?

    Yes.

Flyin Phil recently did a flyover of the area around the park and took a lot of great photos of all the recent updates, including the land clearing for the upcoming hotel / sports complex off of Rte 537 as well as the park's "boneyard" of defunct rides. Here are a couple highlights. The rest can be found on his site here.

  9. I started seriously sticking to the Keto diet approach and my workout regimen (DDPYoga) for about two weeks now. I started at 332 and am down to 315 as of this morning. It’s still tough - every couple of days or so I need to seriously fight some type of temptation (bread at a restaurant, I’ve cream for something sweet), but I’ve fortunately really kept up the discipline this time. We’re visiting my sister in a San Francisco in mid-July and am hoping I can at least lose an additional 20 pounds before the trip.

  10. Anyone have any insight into how restrictive the restraints on these Giant Discoveries are? I've been doing well since switching to keto a couple weeks ago, down nearly 20lbs and exercising regularly, but I'm still weary that I need to lose more before I'll fit. I know there's a test seat, but I'm trying to save the hour trip both ways if I know I'll probably need to drop additional weight before I get close.

For context: at current weight, I can fit on Nitro, B&M big boy seats, Hershey Drop Towers, etc. Can't fit on non-big-boy seats, Cyborg, El Toro.
