  1. Did I break any rules by posting a link to the new ride? I just saw robbalvey's post. Apologies if I did. Feel free to delete it, though I didn't quite understand why regular forum members can't leak information as we get it.
  2. A Larson loop would be the 4th best coaster? The Super manege and Boomerang are so much better than a super loop, even though it's my personal opinion. I think the general public would agree with me on that. Even the unrideable mess Ednor is better. Six Flags has some strong justifications to add a Larson loop and a 4d coaster to a park like La Ronde in the future: limited space and cheap. 4d coaster will be promoted as the best thing since Goliath (or Ednor if you consider it to be decent coaster), and we won't get at least a half decent coaster for another decade. That's what I fear is going to happen.
  3. Can someone explain to me why Six Flags has been buying so many Super Loops and adding them to its parks? I've been on El Diablo at Six Flags Great Adv. Personally for me, it's nothing special. It feels like a super cheap version of a coaster, carnival style. It adds nothing to their list of awesome coasters. I also fear that they will be adding this ride to my home park, La Ronde. I know they promote them as a "coaster," but are they buying them because they're cheaper and take less space? Maybe trying to reduce spending, especially considering the financial difficulties they've had in the past? How popular are these rides with the general public? Do they even care if people like them or not? Also, where did the idea of adding 4d coasters come from and how did they get so popular? This, too, feels like a low end version of a modern coaster, even though it's something new. I'm assuming innovative and big coasters are too expensive and take too much space, so they want to entertain their audience with these types of rides. Of course, this is my personal opinion, but I have a strong feeling that they'll be eventually adding these two rides at La Ronde, considering the limited space, which is really dreadful for a theme park / coaster fanatic!
  4. 4-D, free-fly coaster confirmed: http://njtoday.net/2015/09/03/total-mayhem-expected-in-2016/
  5. I'm suprised that Goliath is down. That thing is usually always up and running. We have one of the best Batman clone, and yes, it's pretty intense. Sit at the last row on Goliath if you get the chance to go on it! Also, go on the single rider line to get on the first row. ArgoZ, Monster was somewhat less violent with the older train and better, now it's almost unpleasant. They should convert it into RMC for the 50th anniversary (I really hope so...) Ednor and Cobra are the unrideable coasters, just there for decoration. Goliath, Vampire and maybe Monster (especially if they convert it into RMC) are the highlights of this park.
  6. If on the website it is stated that the park opens at 11am, then yes, it means both the front gate and rides open at 11am. However, if you really want to be the first to go on rides, I suggest you to be there at the front gate at 10am (an hour early) and stay in line. This year, they added tons of fences and the agents at the gate take their time searching each bag (we don't have metal detectors), so sometimes there's a long line up in the morning.
  7. It's not supposed to be any different than visiting other non-English speaking countries. I visited different European countries this summer. I did not speak a single word of their native language and I was treated with respect. But yes, in Quebec, occasionally, you might get a negative reaction if you speak in English to someone. I wouldn't worry too much about it. La Ronde is a touristic attraction and many employees there would be glad to speak to you in English. Just stay in the downtown area and you'll be fine. If you encounter someone who doesn't want to speak to you in English, don't take it personally, just find someone else.
  8. At the entrance of Monster, Parcours 1 = Track 1 (walk straight) and Parcours 2 = Track 2 (on your right). And I disagree, I like track 1 better!
  9. Both sides were open last Sunday night, so your plan might work. Then again, they might also be open during the weekday. Just a little note though, the Monster isn't as good as before. Ever since they introduced the new trains or whatever they did to the structure, it has become much more rough to the point of being uncomfortable and painful. It will soon enter my list of unrideable rides. I wouldn't have said this, say, 5 years ago. You might still like it, but I really hope they convert it into a RMC soon (which I know they won't do)!
  10. There you go. If the main parking lot is full, they will redirect to the second parking lot at the back of the park near Goliath. That's where the second entrance is, and it's not difficult to find it.
  11. It's not hard to find the main entrance. While you're driving on the bridge and coming from downtown Montreal, stay on the right lane and follow the road signs, you'll have to turn to get on Jean Drapeau park. Then, you just follow the signs with the word "La Ronde" to get to the main parking lot (though some people find the signs confusing). You park your car and walk all the way to the main entrance (not difficult to find at all). If the main parking lot is full, they will direct you to the parking lot at the back of the park near Goliath and then you'll have to enter La Ronde through the second entrance. This is how it works unless if things have changed. Going by metro is much easier and better and you won't have to pay for parking (unless if you have the pass).
  12. You could also try the middle eastern restaurant Amir located near both Subways. If you want a sandwich, try the chicken pita, my favorite. In my opinion, a better choice and possibly one of the healthiest food choices at La Ronde. The Monster is not all that great. It's an old rough ride. I like Goliath better. People complain it's not tall enough, but compared to other B&M coasters, our Goliath is pure enjoyment with lots of airtime! Hope you enjoy it! Yes, the last week of August tends to attract a lot of people if the weather is nice. So you might want to get a flash pass.
  13. Every time I've been to La Ronde it has been working and I don't think it should be removed because this Condor is known for being fast. People at Great Escape are even jealous of our Condor because it goes faster and besides they have plenty of space like the old Twister's space, le Mont-blancs's ols space, le moulin de la sorcière and right next to the old cue for the old Bob l'éponge 3D ride. Condor isn't likely to be removed. They replaced the light bulbs of the gondolas a few years ago, but they didn't bother replacing all the other bulbs on the structure (maybe around 1/4 of them don't work). Interesting that Maison Rouge isn't a permanent ride, which is what I suspected. It sounds like they wanted an attraction like the Mummy in 2009. So the way I see it, La Ronde didn't really get a ride in 2015. They shouldn't have removed restaurants. BTW, I remember back in 2008 or 2009, the president of La Ronde, Marc Tremblay, said in an interview that there would be two big rides at La Ronde in the future. One of them would be a major one. I'm assuming one of them was Ednor, but I don't think we got the major one yet.
  14. La Ronde isn't the greatest park and was built as part of Expo 67, but it is a profitable one. No need to shut it down. Cobra was open yesterday with no line up, even though the park was packed. I scanned the whole park and didn't see any cut trees or anything unusual. It wasn't worth going on Cobra and banging my heard just to have a better view because I know there's nothing. No one really cares about Cobra and I see it as a coaster that is just there for "decoration," but I don't find La Ronde ambitious enough to remove it and install a decent coaster. I really hope I'm wrong!
  15. La Ronde is my homepark. I go there all the time, especially for the fireworks competition. I'm going there tonight, so I can take pictures of any location you would like to prove or disprove LaRondeQC's claims. Personally, I wouldn't put my hopes too high on La Ronde. I kinda doubt they will remove the unridable mess Cobra to install a new coaster. Six Flags has done a lot for the park over the past decade, but I don't think they would want to invest a lot. From I know, Goliath didn't do much to increase the park's attendance. If we get anything, it would likely be a lousy coaster like Ednor. I'd love to see the Monster get a RMC treatment for the 50th anniversary. The last time I rode it, it felt too rough. BTW, does anyone know if Maison Rouge is actually a permanent "ride"? Great attraction, but it just doesn't look like permanent attraction with the way they've built it.
  16. Check out this page: http://www.laronde.com/larondeen/seasonpass.asp I don't know about the Gold pass, but I went to SFA and SFadv with my regular La Ronde pass a few weeks ago, and they all recognized it. SFadv is an amazing park and so much better than La Ronde!
