  1. Just a small update about Batman. It ran smoothly the rest of the night with efficient operations and both trains running. I was skeptical at first thinking this was a "test dummy" opening, but the ride seems to be good to go for the rest of the season. And it completely kicks a$$, might I add!
  2. Ouimet's statement that he isn't a fan of ride relocations leads me to believe that Dorney's next coaster will not be a relocation. A large GCI woodie would be perfect, but that may be a few years down the road.
  3. An enclosed drop tower doesn't appeal to me much. One of my favorite things about a drop tower, besides the drop of course, is the views it gives. But I guess it could work if executed/themed well.
  4. I'm down! We went today but the lines were awful as expected. Also, this may not be news to anyone here, but we found out something interesting today. Even if you have the basic Dining Pass which cuts off at 3pm for lunch, if you are already in the line and get up to the counter at say... 3:09p they will still honor it. I thought we were screwed after a 25 minute wait in line at Wascal's; I can't even explain how slow the staff and line were moving, and I was about to raise hell if denied but he simply scanned it and off we went. There must be some kind of a grace period.... anyone else had this experience? The opposite happened to me at Six Flags New England. I was less than 5 minutes late for dinner (it was about 7:34pm) and they denied me.
  5. Properly executed single rider lines as well as general employee motivation/friendliness/operations.
  6. Stinger at Dorney Park. The Invertigo at KI was fine, but the one at Dorney was awful--probably worse than a regular Boomerang. But at least it was open! Also, the SLCs at SFNE and SFA.
  7. Just a tip for anyone visiting... Yes, the line for Superman is bad, but it really isn't THAT bad. I went on a weekday (Thursday) and the line was 55 minutes. Only about half of the train was using VR at a time; I think people are realizing that the coaster does not need it. It's a great ride without.
  8. A drop tower would be absolutely perfect for Hershey. I really enjoyed the park when I visited this week, but a drop ride is definitely lacking. Considering the relationship the park has with Intamin, I would love to see something like Falcon's Fury.
  9. I just rode Skyrush for the first time today, and it easily takes the cake for the most intense ride I've ridden. It kicked my a$$ like no other coaster has done before. I don't have exact numbers, but it pulled all sorts of crazy Gs in both directions.
  10. Hopefully this "recall" doesn't last too long. I'll be at Six Flags New England this week for the first time; it would stink if Wicked Cyclone is closed.
  11. Currently it is Top Thrill Dragster, however I will be riding Kingda Ka in the coming weeks.
  12. I'll chime in as well. I rode GhostRider yesterday and it was awesome. Once in the back, once in row 2, and once in the very front. The front was my favorite. It was nice being able to throw my hands up and have fun without getting a spine adjustment. I really do like RMC, but something has to be said for a thorough GCI renovation that still keeps the rough, classic wooden coaster feel.
  13. Maybe they simply don't want one. Their attendance certainly isn't calling for it. Moves like a re invigorated Ghost Town and family attractions seem to be more successful at this park. At least so far they've made a conscious choice to leave the big coasters to SFMM, and it's worked for them. I think your absolutely right. In the future I could really see them trying to become more of a family park. Better flat rides, better theming, more dark rides. Disney is so expensive these days, if Knotts added more family/dark rides, they could take all the people that can't afford Disney. I really like the direction their headed, and I think we will see them adding a lot more family coasters and dark ride. As much as I would like to see a hyper like Mako @ SWO, I don't think that its ever going to happen. It will only happen if they expand south into the parking lot. Otherwise where would the station go? Like I said, space will never be an issue. They will find a way if they really want it. The question is if they really want it.
  14. Nice little report. How is Nitro running these days? I hear everything from "it's rattly and forceless" to "just as good as El Toro." I really enjoyed Diamondback at KI, if that's anything to compare it to.
  15. It will be busy, however you should easily be able to ride everything in a full day. I just wouldn't expect multiple re-rides unless you get Fast Lane. Although you'll be able to ride Monty as much as you'd like. That coaster is the hidden gem of the park and almost never has a line over 10 minutes, even on the busiest of days.
  16. I don't want to bash on your opinion or idea, but here are my thoughts on that. 1. Knott's already has 3 launch coasters. 2. Knott's already has 2 shuttle coasters (unless they were to remove Boomerang for this). 3. Knott's has enough low-capacity coasters. Realistically, something like Gale Force still wouldn't compare with Xcelerator, and it would just bring another low-capacity ride to the table. In my opinion, if Knott's gets a new coaster sometime soon, it should be a people-eating B&M Hyper along the lines of Goliath at La Ronde, Hollywood Dream at USJ, or even Mako at SWO. It is something that the park (as well as the SoCal area) could really, really use.
  17. Interesting to hear. Are you allowed to choose your seat when you have Flash Pass?
  18. Yes, finally another Goliath worshiper! I'm not sure what to expect for Goliath when I visit this month. Most people in this thread seem to hate it. I thought it was pretty bumpy back when it was at SFMM but overall fairly tolerable. Apparently these new trains completely ruined the ride? Is it at least somewhat reliable?
  19. ^Space is hardly an issue at Knott's. It has been said before, but look at places like Grona Lund or Blackpool. The issue is that Rob Decker puts such an emphasis on place-making for new coasters at Cedar Fair parks, and since Knott's would have to take some extreme measures if they choose to add an 11th coaster, it would feel very out of place and turn into another Silver Bullet. My guess is that if Knott's is going to add a new coaster at any point in the future, they will replace it with another. The Boomerang/Riptide area could definitely be a solid opportunity for that. Like everybody else, I'd love to see a new coaster at the park, but I think them beefing up their flat ride line-up is equally important as well after the removal of Windseeker, Screamin' Swing, and Riptide.
  20. I am definitely a big fan of the VR experience, just not the painfully slow lines it creates. But if any park could still have kick-a$$ operations on a VR coaster, it would be Cedar Point. It's all about execution.
  21. Nice photos! I'm excited to try Superman with VR in a few weeks (also my first time on the coaster). I really enjoyed it on Revolution at SFMM, so having it on an awesome Intamin hyper should be even better! The line will likely be terrible, but at least I'll be getting Flash Pass!
  22. I can't wait to ride this "new" GhostRider. As much as I love RMC, it is kinda nice to see a major re-profiling with new trains while still keeping it a classic wooden coaster. I have a feeling we will see a lot of this in the Cedar Fair chain.
