  1. From my experience, HWN is definitely more than worth it. I would check the official webpage, but usually tickets are on sale all the way up to check-in at the park (if you are willing to pay the dreaded procrastination tax). I'm sure this year will be more crowded than some previous events, due to Thunderbird, but you will get more than enough time to enjoy the coasters (steel, wooden, and water) without much time waiting. Besides that though, HWN was always special to us for the welcoming environment created by the Kochs, Matt, Paula, and the rest of the staff. Their crazy antics, puns, and interactions make it truly special (as if the food like the free fudge wasn't enough already). I know there has been some less-than-flattering talk about some people at the park, which is really sucky to see. I have said a few ignorant & critical things in the past, which I truly regret, so I can personally say that if you just go over and talk to Matt, Lori, Eric, Leah, Lauren, Paula & whoever, they really love talking to people who share the same passion for their park. If you see them standing around (usually enjoying some refreshing Pepsi beverages), just go up and introduce yourself. Once you get to know the people behind the park and they get to know you, the whole event and park itself just takes on a completely different feeling. If you go to HWN, ride the rides, eat the food, and make some new professional & enthusiast friends, but in the end you don't think that it was worth it or just another regular "enthusiast" event, I will personally reimburse your ticket price. Thanks! I need a couple of weeks to figure this out and plan to do KI as well, so I was wondering if tickets may sell out, but seems this shouldn't be an issue. I personally haven't seen any of this unflattering talk, perhaps I've just missed it, but fear not none of that plays into my thoughts anyway. Seems like a friendly and welcoming park to me. Also, guess I'm hoping to get an idea how many TPRers will be there, since I'd be hauling my self to Indiana and know no one out there, I'd need some park buddies "I will personally reimburse your ticket price. " I am a poor grad student who's had to move back home for the time being and sell my soul to the bank, I'd seriously take you up on that offer
  2. Excellent post this really makes me happy to read! Awesome you were able to implement some changes at your park, and it really is wonderful to see parks that truly care like HW. Quick survey I guess: How many people are going/will be to Holiwood Nights, is it worth it and how long are tickets usually on sale for?
  3. Oh! How did I forget? Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. OK, I was 11 but that was a really fun, and of course classic, ride!
  4. Unpredictable, but generally always fifteen minutes or more for pretty much all major attractions. I believe I waited about thirty to forty minutes for Impulse both times that I rode, which seems like it was kind of short for the opening day of a new attraction. There was not a shortage of people - I just think that the crew was really good. Wow, for an opening day ride that is pretty impressive!
  5. Awesome! What were wait times like?
  6. Smooth and forceful! Sounds and looks great. Seems like a perfect fit for the park, balanced the "small time/family" feel with an impressive new ride. Gotta get here asap!
  7. Well, exciting news! Can't wait to hear the reports, and also what crowds are like at first, I'd prefer to get here sooner rather than later.
  8. Yikes! I can't imagine her being in danger, like falling out or anything but certainly that's not "right" and as someone just pointed out, a smaller rider with that much space could indeed be unsafe. I guess just be glad all that happened was one crazy experience! And hope an oversight like that doesn't happen again!
  9. Well, they already have gone to crap so probably not The site is 80% spam "You wont believe what THIS person discovered! And dermatologists hate him" with a picture of someone peeling their face off, or "Mom is 57, looks like 27!" and clearly a model in the picture. Almost as a terrible as the fact, while all these other Six Flags parks are getting RMCs and innovative coasters and new rides, mine gets a Larson Loop
  10. Yeah, by my book (which means nothing I guess except for me) it's not a coaster. RCDB doesn't seem to consider it one either. Shame my home parks last new ride was 4 years ago, and our next is just a carnival ride
  11. All these pictures being posted are just superb! Sounds like an amazing day, and a great opening to a great ride. I really was caught off guard by how big TB is! It's quite a sight,
  12. Viper, GASM, Rolling Thunder, B&R the Chiller all at Great Adventure. Disaster Transport at Cedar Point Also: Geauga Lake I'd need to check my list but I'm pretty I rode every coaster there. Oh and the Jet Star at Sandy Hook, NJ. My first ever coaster has long been gone
  13. Wow those are some awesome pictures, and that is helluva speed it'll carry through it. This is opening this year right? Potential darkhorse for best new coaster of the year!? Well maybe a stretch but that really looks amazing.
  14. Coming out here this year, I am meeting a friend of mine who lives just over the border in Kentucky, he is wondering when to take off. Any suggestions on when, both time of year and days, are best for this park?
  15. I've never ridden before which is the only reason I was hoping for an unrestrained ride, but I am still greatly looking forward to it and I appreciate all the info! It's great you interact with us on such a real level! And thanks to the community in general. Yall are a treasure trove of info and makes my travels easier. How long are tickets usually on sale for the Holiwood Nights event? I still need a week or two to figure out my finances! I'll try my hardest to get there though
  16. Indeed, though I may try to go to this Holiwood Nights event, seems like an awesome time! Just need to decide if joining club TPR is worth it overall. That's awesome with Santa. This sounds like one of those classic enthusiast parks that are smaller and have that "nostalgic" warm and fun feel, BUT with some amazing coasters and now the big steel B&M one! Seems like a great park.
  17. Wow! Those pictures look amazing! Sounds like a great day Makes me really want to go to that holiwood nights event. Official begging begins to have someone let me be there guest, or guess I should join club TPR!
  18. I was just about to ask, does anyone know when the official opening for Impulse is? (If there is one yet) Looks a like a fun ride and great addition to this great lil park. I had a great time last year, absolutely going again! Well seems like it'll be soon! Its a 2ish hour drive for me. If anyone wants to ever go, PM me!
  19. D'oh! Can't believe I forgot: Europa Park Heide Park Holiday Park (yeah OK...Exp GeForce)
  20. Great pics! Those really show you how big this thing is.
  21. The annual coaster enthusiast event that goes on at Holiday World in late May. Having been twice to it (making this year a third!), I can say that it's definitely the most fun I've ever had in the park! The late-night rides on all of their major rides make it all worth the price alone! It's open to coaster club card carrying members only (including ClubTPR), unless you're a guest of one in which case you can go. More details here Awesome! And I hear untrimmed Voyage hmmmm sadly I'm not a member of any of those, and being a poor ass grad student guess I need to kiss up to someone to have me be a guest ha Thanks for the info!
  22. Yeah I am over my initial shock, still disappointed but whatever. I was super bummed about I305 and still loved it so it's cool. Outside its famous coaster collection I know nothing of this park, what is this holiwood nights? Looking at my schedule, August may actually be the best time for me
  23. Dude...what in the name of sweet crispy Jesus is going on here? Whatever it is I LIKE IT! You need to sell this idea to a manufacturer
  24. OK I've been bad enough, I'm done. I've not ridden any but just from layout, and now POV and original reactions from people, this looks like it may be the best wing rider yet. The launch adds something to it I think, it feels a little more like you're flying!
